Chapter 31 - Chapter XIV: Inheritance (Pt.2)

"Very well," Raina smiled. Not long after, a klevonian entered the room with the spendil boxes.

I split the 700 billion into eight parts of 87.5 billion each and gave four of the spendil boxes to the group with me.

When I handed one to Avarice, he raised an eyebrow and said, "I didn't expect you to share it with me as well."

"You're also one of Viraa's descendants, so you have equal rights to this inheritance like the rest of us," I told him flatly. "This doesn't mean that I trust you."

"Of course not," he flashed a charming smile.

Raina then led us out of her office and to a smaller room.

"I'll be leaving soon, but before I go, there's one last thing I must give you," Raina said, addressing me. She pulled out a tiny case with two thin rings floating in a clear liquid. I realized they were contacts.

"These are biolenses," Raina stated. "They're special contacts with technology linked to the same database of bio cards. They allow whoever wears them to view someone's bio card even when it's hidden. Every Crest Head and important figure on the planet uses them to stay aware of who they're surrounded by. It helps to know who to pick a fight with and who not to," Raina laughed. "Also, you never know if someone tries to assassinate you. Speaking of which, it would be wise to assign bodyguards."

"I basically already have two immortal bodyguards," I grinned proudly, Tymon standing to my right and Michael to my left.

There was an unexpected knock at the door.

"Ah, come in," Raina said aloud. When the door opened, a buff man with a kind aura entered while holding the hand of a young boy who was creating trails of sand from his energy.

"Tuka, no elements in the office," the man said to the boy as he willed the sand from the floor, walked past us, and then landed a wholesome kiss on Raina.

"Sorry, papa," the boy responded sheepishly, then perked up as Raina winked at him and used the wind to raise him up for a hug.

"This is my family: Tuka, my son, and Titen, my eternal half," Raina introduced us. "He'll be standing outside if you need anything. It's been a pleasure to acquaint myself with you all, but there's still much of the day and many matters that demand my attention. I leave you in the trusted hands of my family."

Raina and her family then left the room, leaving us to ourselves. To no one's surprise, Avarice had already taken some money from his spendilsphere to study the currency. There were copper, silver, and gold coins with the numbers 1, 10, and 50 on them, respectively. And he also held paper bills with 100 on them. Huh, it's not too different from Earth.

Za'Fia and Michael were discussing what we'd learned. I saw Tymon standing next to them, staring out an open window as he was in deep thought.

"What's up?" I asked him as I approached them.

"Something's not making sense," he said thoughtfully. "The Pneumarian Forces should easily outpower the Klevonian Army, considering they don't have ascension marks, yet Raina and past Ryfi Theos have been worried about going to war with them."

"She did say the First Great War proved how formidable they are," I thought aloud.

"How were they formidable, though? If klevonians are naturally weaker and those of Forgeton don't have ascension marks, how'd they stand up to a nation of pneumarians and klevonians who do?" he pushed on. "An army of underpowered klevonians should be easy for them to kill, so the solution seems obvious, yet no one's done anything to the Klevonian Army all this time, even when they were kidnapping pneumarian kids. After the First Great War, they only came close to war but never went through. From a klevonian's point of view, I can understand why they'd be afraid to go to war with the pneumarians, but not the other way around...unless the Klevonian Army has a way to defend themselves against pneumarians..."
