"Madam, are you sure that you want to do this?" Cassy exasperatedly asked, nearly pulling her hair as she looked at Gloria who sat on the bed looking as cold as she could be.
Gloria nonchalantly looked at this personal assistant who nearly sent her to meet her maker and nodded her head while responding, "Since your master dared to send you with that. It means that he must have taken into account how I might react. Just tell me if it's possible or not. I don't have a lot of time to waste with you!"
Gloria felt like strangling Cassy, to be honest. She was a woman like her and yet she just had to ...…. When she thought about how she nearly died a few days ago and the pain that coursed through her body, piercing and cutting her every vein, she didn't know how she would be able to trust Cassy ever again.
Of course, she understood that Cassy was the most innocent in this whole matter but she couldn't help but try to find someone she could vent this anger and hatred towards. And Cassy happened to be the weakest link and someone easily bullied.
It couldn't be helped.
Fortunately, Gloria's thoughts couldn't be heard otherwise, who knows how the worried Cassy would react towards that?
Cassy inhaled deeply, her mind gearing very hard regarding Gloria's only demand ever since waking up.
'Why should I stress myself? I am just the messenger. Whatever happens, happens!' she sighingly thought as she snapped her eyes open and looked at Gloria with a shallow smile.
"Madam, if that's what you want then I will do it accordingly. Let me inform the higher-ups and come back with a response. Is that good for you?"
A faint smile appeared on Gloria's face when Cassy said that.
"Sure. Go ahead and do that. And the sooner I go, the sooner I can be at ease!"
Cassy could only bow towards Gloria before leaving the room with a solemn expression.
With Cassy gone, Gloria closed her eyes as tears streamed down her cheeks. She had tried very hard to suppress them but with Cassy gone, she just needed to let it out.
"Ha! Aren't I, a joke?" she couldn't help but mockingly laugh at herself.
Never in a million years did she expect to find herself in such a laughable and helpless situation. The man she loved with her every being sold her to another man as if she didn't matter.
He fooled her for years, betrayed her and sold her off.
And what truly hurt was Xander's response. Even though Simon swore that he had never touched her, she had seen how Xander was still reluctant to buy her. Was she that unlikeable?
Was she that useless that these men could just dictate her life and choose her path without even consulting her?
The more she thought, the more her head ached and the more she felt stuffy, she felt as if she was going to faint again.
Gloria couldn't help but take deep breaths. There was no way she wanted to see herself in that precarious state ever again.
While Xander might be to blame, since in the end he still bought her, Simon wasn't someone she was going to let go easily like that. Now that she was diagnosed with epilepsy, an illness she didn't even have previously and yet because of him, she got it. She wasn't going to let him go easily.
People always say that there is a thin line between love and hate. Just how much she loved him, was how much she loathed him.
There was no way she was going to let Simon get away with this without getting what he deserved.
It was now a matter of how much Simon betrayed her and planned to use her from day one. The greater his sins, the greater the punishment.
As for Xander who dared buy another man's wife despite not wanting to marry her but wanted her as a gardener, which she was very grateful for. At least, he was a bit humane. Although it was illegal what these two men did, at least Xander still had manners.
Rather than forcing her into a relationship she would rather die than be in, being a gardener was better. However, her heart ached when she thought that Xander still didn't find her appealing enough to marry her.
Anyway, before doing anything, she wanted to find out for herself if all that was true. That was why she asked Cassy to tell her boss that she wanted to return home. She wanted to face that man in the eye and ask him if this was all true.
When she gets the answers she seeks, she will see what to do next.
Gloria waited for an hour or so, lost in her thoughts before Cassy returned with a smile on her face.
Seeing how the other party was, Gloria heaved a sigh of relief inwardly. She could tell that Cassy had brought good news which was very good for her.
"Madam, the clan leader has agreed. You can take the private plane tomorrow morning. Iris, Ian and myself will follow you. Once you are done clarifying everything, you will have to come back. After all, that's_"
Before she could finish speaking, Gloria who already had an inkling of what Cassy might blurt out cut her midway and said, "I will come back. I know!" gritting her teeth at the reminder that she was sold off to this clan.
Cassy shut her mouth upon realizing that she nearly blurted out something that would have made Gloria feel uncomfortable.
After being given the answer that she wanted, Gloria chased Cassy away and remained in the room in a daze.
Meanwhile, Cassy after leaving Gloria met up with Iris and Ian who were both worried about Gloria's welfare.
"How is she?" Iris asked worriedly.
Cassy sighed as she massaged her throbbing temples.
"Not good though she is smiling. I think that this was a bad idea from the start!" she lamented at how the clan leader exposed that matter.
Ian looked to the ceiling and exhaled a breath before replying while lowering his head. "I still think that it's a good idea though it could have been done in a gentler way. Now that she knows, she won't be thinking of doing anything bad towards the clan."
Before he is Gloria's bodyguard, he belongs to the clan. He couldn't have anyone sabotaging the clan, regardless of whom.
Iris nodded to Ian's remarks and added, "She might be hurt now but she will heal. Moreover, we all know that she was brought here to become our matriarch. If she continues having that bastard in her heart, when will our leader have her heart?" her tone was a bit cold when she said that.
Cassy sighed helplessly as she flicked her fingers nervously.
"I hope that she also awakens very fast. Anyway, tomorrow we will be leaving for Millstone town. Is there anything that can give her a huge blow and make her forget that Simon guy?" Cassy asked with gritted teeth, truly hating a man who could lie, betray and sell his own childhood sweetheart.
As for how her clan leader bought the other, she literally ignored that part.
When the two heard that, they both slyly smiled and Iris mysteriously responded, "It's a good thing we are going tomorrow. I can assure you that she will definitely hate Simon…"
"And our clan leader will surely get what he wants," Ian added to that.
When Cassy heard that, the burden on her shoulders seemed to be shaken off. She looked excitedly at the two and started urging them to tell her what was happening.
Unfortunately, they were very lip-tight and refused to share which only made Cassy more curious, she couldn't sleep well that night.
Meanwhile, on Gloria's side, later that night, having insomnia and not in the mood to close her eyes, looked at her phone.
She clutched it tightly and if it was the fake kind, it might have been damaged.
She was glaring at the chat with Simon.
[How are you? I miss you!]
[Are you busy? I have something to tell you. Please call me?]
Those were the messages she had sent throughout the day plus others and yet they weren't even seen. It was as if he was ignoring her. What was going on with him?
He used her and ditched her?
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. How could he be so ruthless like that?
For a moment, Gloria even felt that she might have misunderstood him and that Xander might be trying to create disputes between her and Simon but the way he was ignoring her, Gloria was starting to think otherwise.
With that thought in mind, she became even more determined to go back to Millstone town and see for herself what was truly happening.
As a result, she could barely sleep.
It was a tragedy.
