Chapter 20 - caves, caverns, a secret part2

—words from the creator of this novel: Here I have decided to change my writing style a bit, using more technical words and other things. —

The dry sound of a brutal impact shook the ground.

¡Track!

The hammer descended, shattering the floor and leaving a huge crack. The blow had eliminated one of the students, caught in the middle of the explosion.

—What the hell?! How is it possible?!

shouted one of the students, jumping back, breathless.

But the hunter chased him again, charging at him, swinging his hammer back and forth, almost catching him.

—Damn it!

In a clamor, the student ducked to dodge the hammer, quickly rising and lunging with a thrust.

¡crash!

The enemy elemental reacted instantly, raising a wall of rock that emerged from the ground, blocking the student's advance.

—Agh!

The clash of the sword against the wall resonated, fracturing his wrist, while from behind a whip unfurled, binding the student around the torso and dragging him to its core.

Gathered with his teammates, he collapsed, sitting on the rough floor, groaning in pain, while holding his fractured wrist.

The archers who helped him wore dark clothing, covering their faces except for their eyes. Their situation was complex and chaotic; as soon as they lost focus for a moment, they found themselves at a total disadvantage, but a ray of light appeared.

Daren and I were waiting behind, tense, waiting for the right moment to attack. We positioned ourselves 40 meters away from them.

… It doesn't seem like the students are doing well —I whispered. It doesn't seem like the students are doing well —I whispered.

—You're right.

Daren looked around, assessing the situation. If we took any longer, the monsters would show up. So we had to act quickly.

—Can you do something?…

Behind a column were the sisters.

Daren whispered to Liria, pointing at the hunters with his eyes. While she looked at Elia, nodding her head. She pulled the string of her bow, causing the particles to gather and form a dark arrow.

While Liria touched him with the tip of her wand, she immediately cast a spell, imbuing him with a dense layer of radiant purple mana.

—3…2…1…

The count of the words is over. Shooting the arrow, at an impressive speed and illuminating with its light from the beginning to its final impact.

Approaching with an intimidating presence, the elementalist managed to catch him in time and with a few arm movements, displaced several walls, one after another...

Track, track, track!

Destroying the walls, the reinforced arrow pierced layer by layer, getting closer to its target. With surprise, positioning his hands as if holding a baseball bat, the compacted rocks from the ground lifted and formed a mace.

In fractions of a second after his arrival, the elementalist sharpened his eyes, and when the last wall shattered, he delivered an upward strike, hitting and deflecting the arrow like a baseball.

How strong do you have to be not to worry about something like that? — I thought

Raising several walls of rocks, on top of one, a turquoise mana ball shot out violently, illuminating the battlefield.

—Liria! —shouted Daren.

Liria, with a quick reaction, conjured a magical plaque, condensing a dense energy that neutralized the impact of the ball. An expansive wave swept through the area, kicking up dust.

—Gracias...

—do something before this gets complicated —ordered Liria in a firm voice.

We tensed at Liria's words. Getting closer wouldn't be easy, the other team was alert, ready to intercept us.

When we tried to advance, the enemy wizard shouted.

—They're coming!

—I will stop them!

The alchemist replied, throwing several jars that shattered upon hitting the floor, releasing a dense gas with a penetrating smell.

—Noah, we need to get away! —shouted Daren, but it was already too late.

The gas had been inhaled. A sudden weakness would appear. Daren's legs trembled, and he fell to his knees, propping himself up with his sword. While, thanks to my pulse skill, I managed to drag myself away.

"What... is this...?" murmured Daren, feeling as if his muscles were no longer responding.

—Liria! —he shouted.

—I know —Liria replied, raising her wand. She conjured a blinding explosion of light that disoriented the enemy team.

Taking advantage of the distraction, Liria recited a long, powerful prayer: (Immunity) releases a protective wave that nullifies most defects.

The forces returned to his body. Daren, with his anger visible, launched himself back into the attack.

…Daren, wait, don't be an idiot! —I shouted, but it was too late.

Daren unleashed a downward slash, shaking the ground, but the elementalist's wall blocked his strike again.

—Crash!

Clenching his fist, veins bulging, Daren destroyed the barrier with a second horizontal slash. However, the elemental mage reacted quickly and with the same rock mace, blocked the attack.

Clank!

The sword clashed against the mace, and the force of the blow disoriented Daren, creating several unprotected gaps in his body. With a spinning counterattack, the mace struck his abdomen, pushing him against an invisible wall created by the wizard.

—Argh!

Even Liría's protective magic couldn't withstand the damage, shattering instantly. The elemental mage took the opportunity to launch himself at him. Daren barely had time to close his eyes.

(Ice bullet!)

A chilling shot cut through the air, striking the mace and sending it flying from the enemy's hands.

Why didn't I shoot him directly? —I thought, but I don't want to risk the enemy having a magical defense.

Taking advantage of the confusion, I ran and in an attempt to stop, I scraped the ground with my feet, until I stood in front of the elemental. Raising my palm.

(pulse)

The brutal impact launched the enemy into the air as if he had been hit by a truck.

… Get up! —I shouted

Daren stood up, exhaling with a trembling smile and holding back a heart-wrenching pain, ready to continue the fight.

The shot illuminated the opposite side of the cave, drawing everyone's attention, while walls of rock rose like stairs. At the same time, a violent sound shattered wall by wall.

"Let's move on now," one of the students said, carrying a wooden staff with a green sphere in the middle.

One of the archers had a whip at his waist, which he used to distract the hunter with the hammer, who was momentarily distracted.

—Huh?! —the hunter replied.

His hammer was held by the whip's cords, and with a sudden pressure, it was stripped from his hands, falling with a dull thud to the floor. I try to retrieve it, but before his hands reach the handle, an arrow is shot towards his wrist, piercing through and leaving an unpleasant hole.

—ugh—with a muted response, the hunter seemed to withstand the damage.

And I tried to grab the hammer with the other hand, but from the ground, a small crack opened up and a root emerged, grabbing his hand and pulling him with force, knocking him to the floor, while it seemed like the crack was trying to eat him.

"Watch out!" shouted the alchemist.

Throwing several jars, and one with a reddish solution that headed towards the hammer hunter. At that moment, it was intercepted by an arrow shot by the other archer.

Filled with rage, seeing how the jar that was going to help him was diverted from him. With force, I raised my hand, gripping the root, and took a bite, destroying it instantly. Rising immediately, just as a glow appeared behind, becoming a shadow, faded by the intense light.

"Damn, everyone take cover!" exclaimed the student with the fractured wrist, blinded by the white light.

—ack!!

In an instant, the wizard was struck down, his scream filled with pain echoing through the air. His vision was blurry, looking at the last place he remembered the wizard being, and when he slowly regained his sight, he only saw a huge hammer approaching his face.

With three students eliminated, the goalkeepers, who finished last, walked away making huge leaps.

—What the…?!— they were surprised

Crushing a green and sticky substance that prevented them from retreating further, leaving them stuck. They tried to break free, but all they could see was the hunter with the hammer charging at them, watching with their eyes as the steel base approached.

We charged at the elemental, who lay on the floor, affected by the impact, but still had the strength to get up and raise another column of earth.

¡Crash!

The first wall was destroyed by the icy bullet, while Daren stepped ahead of me and took a great leap. Placing my palm right on his foot as he fell, I used the pulse ability, propelling him a great distance, keeping him in the air for a few seconds.

—What?! —said the elementalist, surprised, as he looked up at Daren.

Daren in the air, placed his broadsword at his feet, leaning on the hilt, while crossing his arms, with a serious expression and piercing eyes. Falling like a human spear.

TRACK!

The piercing sound of the broadsword striking the ground was heard. At the same time, the elementalist dodged, jumping backward, panting.

Getting off immediately, Daren grabbed the hilt of his sword and twisted it like a key. Gripping tightly, the distinctive cracks appeared around the greatsword, launching an upward strike with one hand.

Cracking the floor, the elementalist was stunned by such incredible force, while Daren, with the greatsword in the air, charged at him.

—Aaaaahh! —screamed Daren, as he quickly approached.

But I don't expect that several turquoise balls, like last time, would appear. They were small, but they would surely have a big impact.

Daren parried the attacks with his broadsword. As several thin plates surrounded his sword, defending against the magic.

"Thank you!" exclaimed Daren, addressing Liria, who was raising her hand with her thumb up.

Next to her, Elia ran towards us with her stealth ability, and Liria, with her wand, created a magical circle at the tip, unleashing a rain of projectiles, like small meteors, which, with their faint light, made the cave look like it was having a shower of comets.

With the best background, this seemed like war games, filling the sky with projectiles when it was night.

This is exciting—I thought, as I dodged the columns.

I felt a warm and relaxing embrace, making my heart race, I had never felt such a great emotion in my previous world. Staying with a warm smile on my face.

...I'll do my best—thinking, some words slipped out.

Shouldn't I be afraid? Why do I get excited in a situation like this? How much time do I have left in this world? — those questions crossed my mind, doubting myself.

The constant uncertainties made me stop, as I raised and looked at my hands, getting lost in my mind.

…Not a tremor…— I whispered

The hunter with the hammer approached and tried to crush me, but Elia, with a quick movement, placed the bow on his neck, letting the momentum work as a lever, deflecting the hammer.

—Ugh! Let me go! —said the hunter, using his hammer as a support.

The dry and thunderous blow brought my consciousness back to myself, watching as Elia was grabbed by the arm and struck in the ribs. Flying and crashing against the cave wall.

Elia, didn't respond, just the annoying message (a team member is in serious danger, help them now)

…What did you do —I said, as my eyes darkened.

—What? — replied the hunter.

Looking straight ahead, charge at him. The hunter, evasive in a clamor, turned to lift and swing his hammer. I didn't move, but when he got closer, I put my hand up and at the slightest touch.

(pulse)

The contradictory blow destabilized the hunter, who quickly recovered and raised his hammer, delivering a downward strike.

¡Crash!

However, I wasn't in the crack he made. I look around, but he was nowhere, no, but when he looked up.

¡!Slash!!

In a slash, the hunter's vision was cut off instantly. Only the way it split in two could be seen, ending in a blurry pool of blood.
