Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Appraisal.

A day off.

Karl called a carriage to go to the manor outside the city.

Regarding meditation and witchcraft, he has accumulated many questions during this period, and he urgently needs an experienced person to answer them. After all, knowledge does not only come from books.

Unlike the previous two times, there were groups of carriages and people in front of Adolf's manor today, and it was very lively.

"You came at the wrong time."

Siebel came out to greet him and explained: "A gathering of wizards is being held in the Black Swamp. The mentor rushed there yesterday."

She pointed to the busy crowd and said: "They will bring goods to go there in the next few days."

"Black Swamp?" Karl had seen this area on the map of the kingdom, about 500 miles north of Sino City, and couldn't help wondering: "Is there anyone living there?"

The Black Swamp is as its name suggests, an area as large as a city-state, full of various dangerous swamps.

There is also miasma that corrodes flesh and blood.

Not to mention people, even animals and plants are very rare, it is a veritable forbidden zone for living things.

"Naturally, ordinary people can't survive in that environment, but wizards can." Siebel said: "Gray-robed wizard Addison lives in the Black Swamp. He is a formal wizard."

"Every once in a while, wizard apprentices from all parts of the Kingdom of Gondor will gather there to exchange knowledge and materials."

"Exchange." Karl's heart moved: "Can I learn witchcraft?"

"Of course, the premise is that you have enough magic stones." Siebel turned around, her face serious: "Also, if you can come back alive."

"Huh?" Karl frowned: "It's dangerous there?"

"Of course." Siebel nodded: "The wizard world has always been full of various risks."

"Not only various dangerous creatures, but also companions who are also wizard apprentices. For a witchcraft or a magic item, it is not uncommon for fathers and sons to kill each other, not to mention strangers who have no friendship."

Karl's face changed slightly.

If people knew that he had mastered witchcraft in a short period of time, would it also attract others' covetousness?

How can he explain to others that he can construct a complex spell model even though he haven't even started meditation?

No! He definitely can't say it!

What if Adolf has evil thoughts and he has no ability to resist.

'I originally planned to reveal a little about my talent to attract other people's attention, but now it seems that it is better to be careful. It is always right to be cautious. '

"But you are really patient."

Siebel sat down in the living room and waved the servants to leave, saying: "People who have just come into contact with the wizard world are often curious about this world and have all kinds of questions."

"You have learned the meditation method. It has been so long, and this is your second time coming."

"I am afraid of disturbing the teacher." Karl smiled awkwardly: "In addition..."

"I also need to raise money. I am just a declining nobleman. The teacher's tuition is a bit expensive for me."

Asking questions also costs money.

Adolf has a corresponding witchcraft class. Each class lasts half an hour and charges a gold coin.

In class, witchcraft will be explained and doubts will be answered.

In the wizard world, any knowledge has a price, and the price is not low.

"That's right."

Siebel nodded and smiled and said: "Otherwise, come and ask me. My tuition fee is only half of the mentor, and I can get answers to basic questions."

"Is it okay?" Karl's eyes lit up.

Most of what he wanted to ask were basic knowledge and common sense about the wizarding world, and it didn't matter who he asked.

"No problem." Siebel said, "I believe the mentor won't have any objections."

She was Adolf's adopted child, so she wasn't an outsider, but Karl still had a question: "Are wizards short of money?"

"Of course."

Siebel sighed.

"Especially for those of us who do potion research, all kinds of witchcraft materials and knowledge require money. After all, not every wizard apprentice is like Robert."

"Robert?" Karl said: "Doctor Robert?"

The doctor who can make a man's little man grow a few centimeters.

He is actually a wizard apprentice?

But on second thought, this is actually normal, after all, only witchcraft can have that kind of magical power.

"It's him." Siebel held her chin with her hand.

"Although Robert is only an intermediate wizard apprentice, he has mastered a unique witchcraft, which is said to be related to flesh and blood."

"This makes his wealth even greater than that of the mentor, which is really enviable."

Uh...

Karl smiled awkwardly, wondering if Siebel knew what Robert's witchcraft specifically referred to.

So he immediately changed the subject.

"Let's go to class."

In class.

Siebel looked at Karl with some surprise.

"You have a deep understanding of meditation and secondary magic force field. It's hard to imagine that you have just been exposed to witchcraft for a short time."

"What a pity!"

She sighed, with a look of regret: "I originally wanted to earn more tuition fees from you, but now it seems that this plan won't work. I'm afraid you won't need to come to me after a few more classes."

"When the Lord of Dawn closes a door, he will also open a window." Karl said: "Maybe it is because I don't have enough talent for cultivation that I understand witchcraft so quickly."

"That's interesting." Siebel smiled: "Unfortunately, in fact, if the Lord of Dawn closes your door, he will also seal the windows at will."

"Hmm..."

"You don't have to be surprised. Most wizards are pan-believers, so I joked about the Lord of Dawn."

Karl put away his expression and expressed his understanding.

For wizards who pursue knowledge and truth, it is undoubtedly impossible to believe in a god wholeheartedly. The fact that the church allows these "heretics" to exist also shows the strength of wizards.

"Senior sister."

He said: "This time, in addition to wanting to listen to the teacher's explanation of witchcraft, I also want him to see some things."

"The teacher is not here, can you help identify it?"

"Of course." Siebel straightened her chest: "As a pharmacist, identifying unknown items is a basic skill, but you also know..."

She made a universal gesture.

Karl expressed his understanding: "Knowledge needs to be paid."

"That's right!"

"How much?"

"Since you are my junior brother and this is your first identification, I will charge you two class hours this time." Siebel said: "Is it okay?"

Two class hours, that is, one gold coin.

Karl breathed a sigh of relief: "No problem."

He can still afford this money.

Then he opened the package he brought with him, took out the things inside and placed them on the table.

"Huh?"

Siebel subconsciously picked up a piece of black stone, and then showed regret: "I thought it was a magic stone..."

"Where did you get this ore? It has some Yin properties. It can be used to refine weapons and armor. It is a good ore material."

"My grandfather went to the battlefield and got some spoils. Some things were piled up in the warehouse without knowing what they were." Karl explained: "So I took it to have a look."

"Yeah."

Siebel just asked casually, put down the black stone and picked up a tail of an unknown animal.

"This is the tail of the ash rat. It tastes like grass roots. It is one of the materials for making anger potions. If you collect 100 of them, you can exchange it for a magic stone."

"The spider silk of the dark spider is said to be able to make an invisible cloak, but this amount is too small and not worth much."

"..."

"Huh!"

Siebel picked up some powder and put it in front of her eyes to take a closer look. Her expression gradually became excited.

"Dead dust, this is a good thing!"
