Chapter 2 - A Ship of Problems

Despite his luck in getting onto the ship, he found himself in the midst of turmoil. The first problem the ship encountered was a rabid beast before they even got off the port. A stag of some sort, with lightning upon its horns, ran amuck in the city. Its rampage led it down to the port in which the survival of the ship depended on Casamir's abilities.

Casamir was not a man known for his skills in fighting but nonetheless, he couldn't die there. He had a kingdom to raise and people waiting to be ruled. So he fed his flame and steeled his resolve. He took a fallen soldier's blade and he strode towards the stag. The battle between the two was vicious and Casamir gained an unpleasant scar on his side. The stag gave in first, only a few moments before Casamir would've and the city's soldiers cheered. For them, no more than one had died, and that was victory alone.

Casamir's act on the port allowed him passage on a much nicer ship going south and within a fortnight he was traveling. The waters were calm for most of the way south and east, however when they were making the final turn eastward something came from the depths. Casamir saw it coming and he understood he had no long-range weapon.

Before he could make an action himself, a tendril of darkness and flesh flew from the Lacus Proregis. These tentacles of flesh tore through the vessel and immediately they began to sink. No thought was given to the captain as he immediately moved towards the nearest land. The vessel sank but luckily for the passengers, they were close to shore. Allowing them to swim to safety, however many were not able to swim and so Casamir dragged as many as he could.

The only thing in those few moments, on his mind, was the safety of as many people as possible. There was only the Voice, speaking to him, to complete such a task. He managed to save all but one person who no one had seen drown, but they'd never seen them get out. So Casamir's confusion was high, but there was no more he could do, so he rested.

Note: At this point, we have no more information, the future king did not keep a log of what happened but one can surmise. The party landed in the Bestia Lingum, the place of beasts, monsters, and other strange things. The most infamous of beasts from the forest is the Drakan, any learned man knows. One can assume they faced similar things when they went in.

The young king only exited almost two months after he'd entered the Bestia Lingum. With him was a group of six, and when asked by later sources, they had listened to Casamir. The rest of the people who'd gone in did not and they paid their dues. Casamir himself attributed his great decision-making to the Voice that guided him.

Note: Something within Casamir's notebook was the words, "Vos hix fortic" it's relatively still unknown what that meant but many assume it means, "The voice is strong here". He documented this long after he'd been in the forest, during one of his reflections about the place. Yet not once does the entire book mention what actually took place within the forest and Casamir himself has never been quoted saying another word.

When Casamir arrived to the eastern city in Callyptius the family's of the survivors were surprised at the return of their relatives. Most had already enacted funeral rites and began dividing belongings. Some were happier than others, and Casamir did not care to pay much attention past that.

Indeed he had places to be and the first of those places was south of Callyptius. That great kingdom was that of Remous, the first of the great kingdoms to be founded. Its founder was Ricordros of House Ignora, the first of his name and the son of the one and only Regent to rule the realm. Ricordros left his house, of his name, to that of his son Raenus, a capable man. However, Raenus fell into the madness of his grandfather and burnt a hole so large into the ground the world is still in recovery. His great line of flames was near the kingdom Casarena, and it was a war, but the casualties he caused with his flames were not that of strategy.

His actions were followed by his son, but his son was a much better beast. One capable of controlling his less desirable tendencies, however word of them escaped nonetheless and he is only known as the "Whore King". There was no king for almost three generations as wars between bastards were fought. Eventually, all these rulers would lead to that Rieconus of House Ricordros. So far he'd proven a just king but unknown to Casamir, the great kingdom was experiencing an even greater famine.

Note: The Whore King was not a bad ruler by any standard however his sexual tendencies got the best of him and he fathered so many bastards that he birthed two new houses on his own. It's still unknown what his actual name is and many historians have dedicated entire decades to the study of his name.
