Chapter 32 - A very expensive weapon

"Starting from Rank C, equipment begins to have important attributes, so the cost is significantly higher in most cases."

"A Rank C weapon is almost like a third arm for an awakened one, after all, so it is vitally important to get one of this rank. From here on, the minimum cost of equipment is $1 million. Weapons start at $2 million. Feel free to take a look."

After the brief introduction, he was given free rein to look at whatever he wanted. Whenever he saw something that caught his interest, the man would give him a brief introduction or take it out for him to see through the system.

But after looking for a long time, he couldn't find anything similar to the one he had, so he took it out and chose to show it to him.

"Do you have anything similar to this?" he asked.

The man grabbed the weapon, slightly surprised, and looked at its attributes. He was also awakened, so he could use the system.

"This is an incredible weapon, although it has several problems. But for an awakened one or even a master, it could be used as a primary weapon without any problems," he said, returning the sword before walking.

"Follow me. Weapons with those attributes normally cost more than $5 million. You won't find them in this area."

After walking for a few minutes, they arrived at the highest-level area of Rank C.

"The best Rank C weapons we have are here. I think you'll be able to find what you're looking for here."

Elliot nodded and began to look at them.

Shortly after, he had the approximate cost of this sword in his mind.

'Between 10 and 15 million... As expected from a sword given by the System. That's a remarkable amount. Although considering that the sword is free to use, the price may increase.'

'The inner helmet, on the other hand, should cost about 8 million for its attributes, but since it's 'internal' and not 'external,' it might go for 10 million, I think.' Elliot smiled.

This time, he had won big without warning. He thought he would remain a poor neighborhood kid for a while longer, but now he had two treasures that could be worth more than 20 million dollars together.

It was a considerable amount.

The man who was serving him looked at him happily, so he decided to speak. It didn't matter if he didn't sell anything right now; if he could gain a friendship worth tens of millions of dollars, it would be a blessing for him.

"Your sword should be worth $20 million, if you ask me. Although it doesn't have any special attributes, its high attack power is valuable. Plus, since it's free to use, it could even reach $30 million, because it's an unrestricted weapon and people tend to look for it a lot."

"Honestly, it's amazing that someone as young as you has it."

Elliot looked at him. '$30 million? Really?' He was surprised.

"I don't see any weapons that expensive here. Are they very rare?"

"Yes, but no. The thing is, our store is new, so we don't have many weapons here. If you go to the headquarters inside the Association building, you might find C-rank weapons worth over $100 million."

"Cough..." Elliot suddenly choked on his own saliva when he heard the price, but he hid it well and looked at him. "Is there a weapons sales office inside the Association building?"

"The main one is there. That way, they can receive protection from the system."

'Oh, I see. Why didn't I think of that before? I walked all this way when I could have gone there... Sigh.'

He wasn't surprised by the price but by the fact that he had known nothing about it.

Still, it didn't matter now, since he had already walked all this way and wouldn't be returning to that place for the time being.

After looking at a few more weapons, he was satisfied. But just as he was about to leave, he was suddenly stopped by someone coming down the stairs.

"Wait a minute, can I see your sword?"

She was a beautiful woman, elegant in her dress and manner. But she wasn't arrogant; she seemed like someone anyone would like.

'A sociable person, and incredibly beautiful.' That was Elliot's first impression of her, even though she spoke suddenly.

When she came up to him, she repeated her question. "Can I see your sword?"

Elliot didn't see why not, so he allowed her to.

She then scrutinized the sword, looking at every detail. 'The design isn't flawless, but what amazing power attack. It would be the perfect support weapon for me...'

After studying it for a moment, she looked at Elliot. "Sorry for the late introduction. My name is Jenna. Would you like to sell it to me? I'll give you 50 million... No, 60 million dollars. I can give it to you right away."

Elliot looked at her, incredibly surprised. 'Sixty million dollars for this weapon? My God... With that, I could buy complete C-rank equipment and a good C-rank weapon right here...'

He couldn't believe it, so he looked at the weapon to see if he had missed something.

'It must be because it's free to use and has such a high attack power...'

He knew it. All the C-Rank weapons he had seen here cost between 5 and 15 million and only had between 25 and 45 attack power. The ones with 45 attack power had no attributes, but they were already so expensive.

While his weapon still had 85 attack power, it was a weapon rich in capability and also had an attribute. This attribute was physical armor penetration. It wasn't very useful, because it only meant that it had a penetrating attribute against the physical armor (visible) of knights or the like, something that can't be taken advantage of much in Loen City.

Well, in general, in the current era, it can't be taken advantage of too much because most people opt for internal physical armor that is only visible in the system and is not visible unless you are participating in some high-level tournament.

But it is still an important attribute alongside a lot of attack power.

'I won't be able to get a weapon like that in such a short time. Maybe getting the money is a good idea, but I'm growing much faster than ordinary people. I have 25 strength points right now, but a week ago, I was a normal person. Who knows where I'll be in six months? And this weapon would be very useful for such explosive growth.'

As he weighed its pros and cons, his heart began to lean toward not selling it. Because he probably wouldn't be able to get another one like it.

'And I still need to join a guild. The stronger I am, the better my chances will be.'

He sighed. He was tempted by so much money he had never seen in his life, but he was rational. He needed power.

Wealth didn't matter; power was everything.

That's why he gritted his teeth and shook his head.

"I'm sorry, miss. I'm not selling it."

Jenna, who had high expectations, suddenly felt her spirits drop, but she didn't get discouraged and offered another price. "80..."

"It's not about the money, Miss Jenna." Elliot interrupted her. "It's for the same reason you want it that I won't sell it to you."

"The same reason?" Jenna was confused.

Elliot smiled.

"I want power too. This weapon gives me the power I lack, so I can't sell it." He was direct in his response, which surprised Jenna.

"You want power, huh..."

Jenna could see in his eyes that he wouldn't back down on his word. Maybe she could still raise the price a little more, because she needed a weapon like that and she wasn't worried about getting the money back, but what was the point? The man in front of her was clear about his goals.

Items like that could be invaluable for a man with clear goals. That was why she finally gave up.

"I hope you get what you want." She handed him the sword, turned around, and left.

Elliot said goodbye to the person who had helped him and also left by the same way, where he finally took a taxi and decided to go to the place he wanted to go.

To the guild where he wanted to register.
