Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 : First Boss Defeated

"In order to advance to the next floor, you must defeat the Boss Floor Guardian. Head to the boss zone within 10 minutes, or you will receive a penalty of -1 level."

Hearing the sudden announcement, Rei's eyes widened in shock. No one had told him that defeating the boss was a requirement to move forward. He had assumed clearing the mission was enough. But now, with only ten minutes on the clock, there was no time to complain. He could ask questions later—right now, he had to move.

"Damn it… Guess I don't have a choice."

Without hesitation, he dashed toward the boss zone, his footsteps echoing through the dark dungeon corridors. The eerie glow of moss-covered walls provided minimal light, but he didn't need to see clearly—his instincts told him that the real challenge was just ahead.

Of course, the dungeon wouldn't let him through so easily. Along the way, monsters emerged from the shadows—low-level beasts, but numerous enough to slow him down if he engaged them all.

Rei made a quick decision.

"Moon Bunny, handle them!"

At his command, his rare pet, the Moon Bunny, leaped forward, its crescent moon marking glowing faintly. With dazzling speed, it zipped through the enemy forces, cutting them down one by one.

Silver Crescent!

A brilliant arc of moonlight slashed through the air, instantly eliminating a group of attacking monsters. Notifications flooded Rei's vision.

Shadow Rat defeated! +20 EXP gained.Dungeon Bat defeated! +25 EXP gained.Shadow Goblin defeated! +40 EXP gained.

At first, he ignored the notifications, keeping his focus on the path ahead. But then, he noticed something odd.

You have leveled up!You have leveled up!You have leveled up!

Rei nearly stumbled. Wait… I'm gaining experience too?!

It had been a common assumption that when a pet killed a monster, the experience would go to them, not the tamer. Yet here he was, watching his level skyrocket as the Moon Bunny continued wiping out enemies behind him.

Level 6… Level 7… Level 8… Level 9… Level 10?!

Within minutes, Rei had jumped five levels just from his pet's actions alone.

"This… This is broken," he muttered in disbelief. If this mechanic stayed the same, then a powerful beast could essentially power-level him to ridiculous heights. He wasn't complaining, though—this just made things easier.

Pushing the thought aside, Rei continued forward. The closer he got to the boss zone, the heavier the atmosphere became. His instincts screamed danger. The temperature dropped slightly, and the air carried an almost suffocating weight.

Then, at last, he arrived.

A massive iron gate stood before him, ancient and covered in glowing red runes. Beyond it, the sounds of something eerie whispering echoed through the cavernous room.

Boss Room Discovered: Cursed Wraith of the First Floor.

A system prompt appeared.

Would you like to enter?[YES] [NO]

Rei took a deep breath, his grip tightening on his staff. His heart pounded in his chest, but his fear was quickly replaced by excitement.

"Let's do this."

He pressed [YES], and the gates groaned open.

The moment Rei stepped inside, the gates slammed shut behind him.

The boss room was vast, its walls lined with glowing blue crystals that pulsed like fading embers. In the center, floating ominously, was a ghostly figure cloaked in tattered black robes, its hollow eyes burning with a sinister red glow. Wisps of dark mist swirled around its body, and the air felt heavy, oppressive—as if it was trying to drain Rei's very essence.

A system notification appeared.

Cursed Wraith (Boss)Level 15HP: 4,500 / 4,500

The creature raised a spectral hand, and a cold, bone-chilling voice echoed through the chamber.

"Flesh… must perish… The seal shall remain…"

Rei barely had time to react before the wraith stretched out its arm—launching a barrage of black shadow spears straight at him!

"Dodge!" Rei shouted, rolling to the side just in time as the attack shattered the stone where he once stood.

"Moon Bunny, go!"

His companion dashed forward, its speed far surpassing the sluggish movements of the wraith. With a graceful leap, it unleashed Silver Crescent!

A radiant arc of light slashed toward the boss—only for the wraith to phase through it, avoiding damage completely.

Rei cursed. Of course, physical attacks won't work!

The wraith responded by raising both hands. Suddenly, dark tendrils of energy shot from the floor, binding the Moon Bunny in place!

"Damn it!"

Rei had no choice—he needed to rely on magic.

He summoned his mana. "Vine Snare!"

Thick green vines erupted from the ground, wrapping around the wraith's body. Unlike the Moon Bunny's attack, this one actually worked—the wraith shuddered as the magical vines resisted its attempts to phase out.

It's weak to magic!

A grin formed on Rei's face.

"Now, Piercing Iron!"

A jagged iron spike shot up from the floor, piercing the wraith's chest. The monster let out a ghostly shriek, its HP dropping by 600 in a single hit.

"Looks like you can't phase through everything," Rei smirked.

The battle continued, with Rei carefully managing his mana while dodging the wraith's relentless shadow magic. After an intense exchange of spells, the wraith finally began to weaken. Its form flickered, unstable, as it let out one final, chilling wail.

Rei didn't let up. He poured the last of his mana into one final spell.

"Piercing Iron!"

The iron spike shot through the wraith's head, causing its entire body to tremble violently. A second later, it collapsed into a swirling mist of darkness.

A notification flashed.

Another notification appeared.

A swirling portal appeared at the back of the room.

Rei looked at his Moon Bunny, who sat beside him, looking proud of itself. He chuckled.

"We did it, little guy."

He decided to end his journey today and will enetr the second floor tomorrow to be sure that he will be in the best shape to clear the second floor.

Rei othen decided to see how much has he progress compare to his first time awakening the profession.
