Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: The Simplest Mob Farm—The Water Flow Trap

"Then many thanks."

Fu Zhu naturally agreed with a smile, however, he wasn't a reckless person either.

Even though he could use the sweeping attack to take on a group of Fragmentum creatures head-on, that was limited to the front. If even a few Fragmentum creatures attacked him from the sides, he could find himself in danger.

Therefore, Fu Zhu decided to build something, at least to restrict the attack direction of those Fragmentum creatures, ensuring they could only attack him from the front.

Several plans immediately flashed through Fu Zhu's mind. Calling them plans was perhaps an overstatement; they were essentially just using MC blocks to restrict the pathing of these Fragmentum creatures.

"Gepard, I'm going to modify the terrain here at your city gate slightly, that should be alright, right?"

Gepard looked at Fu Zhu, somewhat bewildered.

"Modify... the terrain?"

.....

About ten minutes later, Gepard and a crowd of Silvermane Guards stood at the city gate, staring dumbfounded as Fu Zhu, holding cobblestone blocks, built a tunnel starting from the city gate, only wide enough for three people to pass through side-by-side. Then, he dug a 2x2 pit inside the city and filled it with water.

"Fu Zhu, what are you doing?"

Gepard pointed at the 2x2 water pit, somewhat confused. If the narrow tunnel was meant to restrict the Fragmentum creatures' attack direction, then what was the purpose of this water pit?

"Infinite water source. I'm using it to add a little slowing zone for these Fragmentum creatures."

Fu Zhu had originally planned to build a water flow mob farm tower directly, but there probably wasn't enough time. Moreover, the monsters in this world seemed to possess some level of intelligence. Without pistons, it might be impossible to forcibly make these monsters move according to his design.

Therefore, using the slowing effect of water flow to farm mobs was the most suitable plan for the current situation.

Despite Fu Zhu's explanation, Gepard still didn't quite understand, especially after seeing Fu Zhu fill the 2x2 pit with water from his own bucket, only to immediately scoop another bucketful out again. This confusing action left him completely baffled.

If he was just going to put it back, why specifically dig a 2x2 pit?

However, the next second, the water Fu Zhu had scooped out suddenly refilled itself. This left Gepard and the surrounding Silvermane Guards watching, completely stunned.

"Heavens, what did I just see? The water refilled itself? Is there a spring underground?"

"How is that possible? Mr. Fu Zhu only dug one meter deep; we didn't see any spring eye at all! Even groundwater couldn't possibly replenish that quickly!"

Gepard looked astonished at Fu Zhu, who was currently using his water bucket to create a water flow trap within the cobblestone tunnel. He finally understood what Fu Zhu meant by "infinite water source" – it was literal!

Gepard frowned, turned his head, and had a subordinate bring a shovel. He then tried laboriously digging a 2x2 pit nearby himself. Scooping the water with a bucket, it didn't exhibit the same continuous replenishment as Fu Zhu's infinite water source.

He then tried taking a bucket of water from Fu Zhu's infinite source. The next second, the pit refilled itself again!

It was true! Only the water pit dug by Mr. Fu Zhu himself had this effect. Is this technology from beyond the sky? Such advanced technology!

Those capable of traveling beyond the sky were truly no ordinary people.

While Gepard was studying the infinite water source, Fu Zhu ran to the end of the water flow trap, dug down two blocks, placed two wooden chests at the bottom, and then placed hoppers on top of the chests.

When he started killing mobs, he wouldn't have time to pick up drops from the ground. It was better to use the water flow to wash the drops onto the hoppers for automatic collection.

After finishing these steps, the simplest and most practical mob farming structure was complete. Fu Zhu placed torches on both sides of the tunnel and stood at the end, waiting for the Fragmentum creatures to appear.

Gepard remained by Fu Zhu's side. Even though he had witnessed Fu Zhu's ability to fight one against a hundred earlier, having an extra person was always extra insurance. Because of the tunnel Fu Zhu built, the Silvermane Guards couldn't exit the city at the moment. If they went out through the water trap to engage the enemy, they would have no path of retreat. Fu Zhu also didn't want them going out to fight.

Suddenly, the alarm bells on the city gate rang loudly. By the moonlight, countless Fragmentum creatures could be seen appearing on the white snowfield, rushing towards them at extreme speed.

The Silvermane Guards quickly formed ranks inside the city gate. Fu Zhu had altered the terrain at the entrance; if he couldn't hold back these Fragmentum creatures, the guards could only prepare to fight within the city.

Gepard, standing beside Fu Zhu, glanced at the Fragmentum creatures, now very close, and reminded Fu Zhu in a low voice.

"They're here!"

"Don't worry, it's totally under control."

Compared to the tense Gepard and Silvermane Guards, Fu Zhu seemed very calm, even having time to place down a crafting table and make a few slabs, further restricting the passage in front of him.

In no time, the Fragmentum creatures discovered that the city gate which previously blocked them now extended into a tunnel, and without the thick gate barring the way, they excitedly rushed straight into the tunnel.

However, when the foremost Fragmentum creatures stepped onto the rushing water flow, they realized something was wrong. Advancing through the water was exceptionally difficult.

The Fragmentum creatures at the front were hindered, while those behind were blocked outside the tunnel by their companions, unable to advance.

Impatient, they directly started trying to destroy the newly built tunnel. But no matter what attacks they used, they couldn't leave the slightest mark on the cobblestone. They were forced to wait for the companions ahead to push through the tunnel before following.

Gepard saw only three or four Fragmentum creatures shoulder-to-shoulder in the tunnel, struggling forward through the water. He couldn't help but feel pleased. Just as Mr. Fu Zhu had predicted, the frontal pressure was greatly reduced!

Fu Zhu also chuckled slyly and took out the Mending-enchanted Broken Blade of the Godfall Sword.

"Gepard, leave the rest to me. You guys don't need to make a move. I'm going to give these Fragmentum creatures who manage to reach the end of the water trap a little reward."

Saying this, Fu Zhu swung his sword at the Fragmentum creatures struggling to reach him. The sweeping sword energy sent them flying back directly.

The Fragmentum creatures cried out慘呼, feeling terrible. But what made them feel worse wasn't the injury, but the fact that the human had just knocked them flying back!

They had to trudge through that rushing water all over again!

And so, Gepard witnessed a truly comical scene.

The Fragmentum creatures would painstakingly cross the water trap to reach Fu Zhu, only to be knocked back by his sword, forcing them to expend great effort to cross the water trap again.

But once they crossed the water trap again, what awaited them was another blast of Fu Zhu's sword energy.

Fu Zhu only needed to stand in place and occasionally swing his sword, but the Fragmentum creatures had much more to consider.

Gepard watched as those Fragmentum creatures, under extreme humiliation, unwillingly collapsed.

He couldn't help but mutter softly.

"So, you can fight wars like this too?"
