Lena stood at the wide kitchen window, drying a mug and pretending not to watch the small knot of pack members gathered outside. Sienna and Evan lounged on the back porch, laughing softly, their heads tilted together in easy conversation. A few younger wolves tossed a ball back and forth on the lawn, their movements loose and unguarded.
Life around the pack house moved on like she wasn't even there.
Lena set the mug down with a little more force than necessary. She knew it wasn't personal. Or at least, that's what she told herself. She was an outsider—a complication they hadn't asked for. A human in the middle of a wolf's world.
And lately, Dom was making sure she remembered it.
