Arthur stood atop the newly constructed command platform—a raised obsidian ridge surrounded by silver banners fluttering in the wind. From here, his eyes swept across the battlefield below. The clash between soldiers had erupted like a tide of iron, blood, and fury, but Arthur's forces—elite, disciplined, and empowered by legendary talents—were steadily dismantling the monstrous horde.
His gaze followed streaks of dark movement cutting through the far west flank. It was there that Diana, commander of the **Ghost Walker Unit, moved like a phantom through the shadows.
Her eyes glowed faintly beneath her black-hooded cloak, and with a flick of her fingers, the Veil of Death descended. A dome of darkness blanketed the battlefield—silent, cold, and utterly unnerving. Inside, light dimmed until torches flickered uselessly, and even the sound of goblin screeches faded into whispers.
Her assassins vanished into that dome like smoke.
The goblins didn't even know they were already dying.
One silver-ranked goblin captain, clad in jagged bone armor, let out a confused grunt. "What… Where—?!" His voice cut short as Diana's twin daggers pierced his throat from the back, blood misting out like a whisper.
Before his body hit the ground, three more goblins screamed—but their cries were stifled into silence. Diana moved between them like a wraith, her form flickering from one enemy to the next. No footsteps. No warning. Just death.
Every member of her assassin squad was empowered inside the Veil. They phased in and out of shadows, blades flashing with precision, landing instant kills before slipping away again. The goblins thrashed wildly in fear, slashing at empty air.
Arthur narrowed his eyes. "She's made the entire battlefield her hunting ground," he murmured.
A lieutenant beside him nodded. "Reports say her unit hasn't suffered a single casualty. The enemy can't even touch them."
Diana emerged briefly from the veil, her face calm, her hands bloodied. She gave a subtle nod to Arthur in the distance, then disappeared again.
At the same time, a soft golden light bloomed from the east side of the battlefield.
It was*Lily, the silver-haired mage with sapphire-blue robes embroidered with runes of blessing and healing. She raised her staff high, her voice calm and melodic.
"*Sanctuary of Light.*"
The domain unfolded like a rising sun—an enormous, radiant dome made of golden filigree patterns that shimmered with divine energy. Soldiers inside it stood taller, breath steadied, wounds closing even mid-swing. Severed arms began to reattach. Burned flesh regrew in seconds. Pain turned into resolve.
Goblins who rushed toward her domain found themselves unable to break through. Their spells fizzled into sparks. Their curses vanished like mist.
Lily's staff pulsed once, and a golden beam arced across the sky. Wherever it touched, Arthur's soldiers were healed and empowered. Inside her domain, their mana surged and fatigue vanished. Archers fired without pause. Warriors swung with unrelenting strength.
A goblin leader—a grotesque thing with purple veins and three tusks—charged at her with a jagged cleaver. "Witch! I'll rip your heart out!"
Lily didn't flinch.
With one graceful motion, she extended her hand, summoning a radiant barrier. The cleaver bounced off with a deafening clang. Then she whispered, "*Explosion.*"
A magic circle beneath the goblin erupted in blinding light, sending the creature flying backward—burned, stunned, and broken. The surrounding goblins hesitated, fear worming into their bloodlust.
Then came the real terror.
The Arcane Circle Unit—her elite mages—stepped forward behind her. Empowered by the *Sanctuary of Light*, they launched a barrage of spells—flame spears, ice chains, and compressed air blades. It was devastation made elegant.
Arthur watched, expression unreadable but satisfied. "She's not just protecting them. She's *arming* them with divine fury."
Diana and Lily—shadow and light—were fighting side by side on different ends of the battlefield, but the result was the same.
Crushing victory.
The goblins began to break formation, their confidence shattered by invisible death and radiant salvation. In both directions, Arthur's forces advanced steadily, routing the enemy with minimal losses.
Suddenly, a loud magical pulse rang through the battlefield.
Diana emerged from the veil's edge, dragging a goblin captain's corpse by the foot. "East is clear," she said flatly, her voice as cool as ever. "Captain eliminated. Leader executed."
She tossed the body aside without ceremony.
Lily joined her moments later, flanked by her soldiers. "Healers on full deployment. We're moving to reinforce the southern flank."
Diana glanced at her. "We've already handled the west."
They exchanged a nod, no words needed.
From his vantage point, Arthur gave a small smile. "Two pillars—one in shadow, one in light. And both unshakable."
He turned to his adjutants. "Begin preparations. We move to reinforce Ava and Voloric next."
