Chapter 20 - The World Spirit Contract

"Senior, please do tell!" Kai pleaded.

"Haha, kid don't worry I won't go back on my word and will properly explain everything I know."

Kai looked at Lilith and with a small smile slightly nodded.

Lilith took a deep breath and nodded back to Kai.

"Like I said, world spirits form these contacts as means to traverse between worlds as to gain the other party's help."

"But as far as I can tell, your world spirit friend doesn't seem to have formed any kind of contract and hence come to this world the conventional way."

Kai turned to Lilith and asked. "Do you know how you entered this world."

Lilith shook her head and replied. "I have been here ever since I first opened my eyes."

The old man continued seeing Kai frown. "Well… I don't know how she entered this world but since she hasn't formed a contract its only right to assume she hasn't formed an origin core yet too. Hence, why no one can see her because her form is slowly disappearing."

"That does make a lot of sense." Kai muttered.

After a moment of pondering Kai spoke. "Senior, do you know how to form these contracts?" He questioned.

The old man shook his head as he said. "No, these contracts are initiated by the world spirits."

Kai worriedly turned towards Lilith gain. "L-Lilith do you know how to form a contract?"

And his worst fear came to reality seeing her slowly shaking her head with moistened eyes.

"Senior there must be another way, right?" Kai asked.

"Hmm… although I don't know if it would work or not. Contracts are mainly established to create a link between worlds and travel; it has nothing to do with the origin core. You could try to help her form an origin core, although I also don't know how to do something like that but that would be your best option to take this risk considering the situation." The old man explained.

"Senior, if I may ask. You said that information on world spirits is too scarce, I understand that you were the strongest in your era, but where did you get so much vital information from." Kai questioned as he stared at the old man, watching his each and every reaction.

"Hoh~ how perceptive of you."

The mana in the area then suddenly started growing unstable but returned to normal just as quick. "That person was once a friend of mine. He wasn't from our world but another world. He also had a world spirit with him. So, in the entire world unless there are more world spirit user's now only I and him could tell you so much information about world spirits."

Kai took note of how the old man emphasized the word 'once.' Deciding not to pry further he shifted the topic.

"What do you think Lilit-"

Kai was cut short of his words. "Please!!! Kai, please help me form a mana core!" Kai bowed and shouted.

"Lilith you do know that this matter concerns your life. We should investigate a little more, millenniums have passed since senior's era there must be some kind of information now." Kai said.

Lilith shook her head as she replied. "I can't stay like this for much longer. During the span of these 2 days, I have already seen signs of my body disappearing. If I don't form this origin core now, I will definitely die. Besides-"

She then raised her head and with a beautiful smile she said. "I trust you."

Kai opened his mouth to say something but seeing her determined and unwavering look no words came out.

*Sigh* "Do you really want to do this?" Kai asked.

Lilith stood straight and nodded confidentially.

Just then the old man's voice came. "I won't tell you not to worry, but I can somewhat help too. You should let her comprehend the origin and mana herself while you support her at any instance you think you could. I will also guide you if I sense anything abnormal."

"Thank you senior, I will never forget this kindness." Both Kai and Lilith simultaneously spoke with clasped fists.

The old man only waved his hands and with a smile he replied. "Don't worry, you are my successor after all, the best way you could pay me back is by surviving and showing the world what someone chosen by I, The Great Emperor Hanxian is capable of!"

"Alright we will start the origin core forming process tomorrow. I need to make some preparations to raise the chances of success." Then with a single flick of his finger his silhouette disappeared.

Kai noticed another spacial ring floating in front of him.

As he took the ring and saw the contents within, he couldn't help but smile. 'Old Man.'

He then turned to look at Lilith with a complicated gaze.

"Why… Why would you trust me?" He asked.

"Watching and speaking with you for the past 2 days I have a little understanding of your character now. And from my observations you seem trustworthy. Besides, you are the only person who can actually see me anyway." Lilith replied.

'Also, the way my heart starts beating faster when I am around you. It's too strange. Maybe I trust you because… of just who you are.' Lilith thought.

*Sigh* "You shouldn't trust other's so easily but forget that now. You should rest and conserve all your energy for tomorrow. Tomorrow is going to be a big day for you." Kai said as he gently caressed the top of her head, although it just phased through.

Lilith closed her eyes, enjoying the pats. "Un." She nodded and hopped with joy towards the wooden room.

Kai faintly smiled as he inwardly muttered. "Log Out."
