It's strong aura rushed out, impacting Ravena and Reign. Ravena wouldn't be affected by it and Rein had felt much more powerful auras, this was nothing.
Reign watched as the fire lizard approached, could he really fight it? He was excited to find out. Ravena too seemed a bit concerned, and stepped out to deal with it.
They were deep in the cavern anyway, that drake couldn't get out even it tried. Reign reached out and said, "Let me try it. I still have the buffs anyway."
Ravena considered for a while and nodded.
Reign stepped out and shot towards the third rank fire lizard, his body a blur. His body arrived before the lizard, relying on his tried and tested technique, his sword slashed out, aiming to decapitate the fire lizard.
This time though he was facing a far stronger foe. A huge tail was waiting for him, it hit him like a speeding truck and his body shot out and collided against the cavern walls.
The magic shield Ravena had placed on his body shook violently, and Reign felt his body ache from the impact. He coughed out stiffly, feeling that something or another must have shifted in his body.
He pushed himself from the wall, surprised to see the cavern's wall's hadn't moved at all despite the impact. He didn't forget to pay attention to the fire lizard. As expected, it had its mouth open, a huge fireball ready to shoot out.
Reign hurriedly dodged the fireball only to see another one following that one, it was aimed directly at where he had landed.
Reign was once again shot into the wall by the fierce explosion, luckily the fireball was a bit hastily shout. It didn't manage to pierce the magic barrier.
He heard Mirage's voice in his head, "that was why I told you need to learn skills and techniques. You also need to fight more battles, your battle experience needs to increase, otherwise you wouldn't have fallen for the lizards basic tricks. It had extremely rich battle experience if it got to the third rank."
Reign could feel that what she said was right, he had been able to bully the previous fire lizards because they were completely crushed by his attributes.
Facing a beast with battle experience and same strength he was getting his ass handed to him.
Ravena had help up the lizard when it tried to finish him off, and she was trampling the beast. A barrage of spells denied the beast any chance of retaliating.
A fireball would be detonated as it left its mouth and she refused it any chance of approaching her.
Rein was stunned, "weren't they both at the third rank, why was Ravena able to curbs stomp this beast when they should have equal strength.
Mirage once again took the chance to explain, "There can be extreme differences in strength in the same tier. It depends on Tier, skills, profession, experience, weapons, innate abilities and other factors.
Ravena outclasses the fire lizard in almost all aspects, that was why she was able to suppress it. In fact if you had some good skills and enough experience, you would have been able to slay it within a couple of moves. "
Rein once again felt the importance of skills and experience. Skills he couldn't increase now but experience he could definitely improve.
There was a big opportunity here. He would fight the third tier fire lizard. He might get his ass handed to him, but with Ravena here, he most likely wouldn't die. He should take this rare chance.
Reign knew that a chance to fight a beast of this caliber was rare, so he approached Ravena. "Could you let me fight it?. I want to increase my battle experience, and it would be a waste to kill it like this."
Ravena looked at him strangely, probably wondering if he was a masochist, but then agreed. She stopped bombarding the poor lizard, which earned a break.
Reign immediately shot out, still aiming to decapitate it. This time though, he kept all his senses alert.
He spotted the tail as it whipped at him with amazing speed. Reign was ready for it, he leapt up, aiming to avoid it and then drop on it's head.
If it wasn't for the fact that Mirage only existed in his mind, he might have thought she had met Ravena. They both let out a resounding 'No, don't do that." And reign found out why an instant later.
As he had leapt up, the lizard had immediately spotted him. It also seemed surprised for a while, and actually paused for a second. It seemed that it was wondering whether to smack Reign with it's tail or open it's mouth to swallow him.
It seemed to settle for both. It's wide mouth opened up below Reign, ready to swallow him whole.
It was at that moment that he knew, he had fucked up. Perhaps jumping into the air in combat wasn't a bright idea, not unless he had a way to leverage force in the air.
At the moment he didn't. he could only stare helplessly as he dropped towards the waiting fire lizard's maw.
At the critical moment, a breezy wind swept against him, carrying him away from certain death. He dropped on the ground, rolling gracefully to offset the force.
He glanced gratefully at Ravena who had an amused expression that seemed to laugh at his stupidity.
He pretended not to see it, but his cheeks heated up. He knew it had been a pretty stupid rookie mistake. He grew angry from embarrassment, and looked at the fire lizard resentfully. Seeing it still waiting there cluelessly, he attacked mercilessly.
The lizard was surprised to feel no crunchy human dropping into its mouth. It wondered what had happened. Suddenly it felt a sharp pain on its ass, someone had actually cut its tail.
It roared in rage at the shameless scoundrel, Rein quickly retreated as the Fire lizard's maw snapped at him.
He had been surprised to feel some resistance when he cut the lizard's tail. It was the first time he had felt any resistance when he cut anything. He looked at the sword, wondering.
