Chapter 2 - System

Before his eyes, the experience points for his skills began to increase. His football skills now had (60/1000) experience, his learning ability was at (310/2000), and his business management skills were at (280/2000).

This piqued his curiosity, so he quickly asked the system.

"System, what's the reason behind the sudden increase in skill experience?"

[Answering the host. Skill experience increases by 10 passively over time.]

Kazuya wasn't entirely satisfied with that answer since there were still things he didn't understand, so he asked another question.

"How long does it take to gain passive experience?"

[That depends on the skill level. While a Level 1 skill takes one hour to gain experience, a Level 2 skill takes two hours.]

This response did satisfy him.

"Then the best approach would be to increase the number of skills I can use."

Having reached a conclusion, Kazuya asked one more question.

"What is the skill level cap?"

[The maximum level for all skills is 10.]

Now that this was clear, Kazuya moved on to what interested him next.

"System, show me all available options."

Some words lit up before his eyes.

[Status] [Quests] [Skills] [Inventory] [Store (Locked)]

"I'll start by checking the quests."

As soon as he said this, a new window titled "Quests" appeared.

[Quests:]

Main Quest: Take control of your life. Don't let the plot dictate your fate.

Reward: Complete mastery over the system and all its functions.

Side Quest: Ready for change. Take the first step toward self-improvement.

Reward: 500 system points.

This caught him off guard. The fact that his initial goal had now become his main quest was unexpected. Seriously? Even his desire to change some aspects of his physique had turned into a side quest.

"System. Is there any other way to earn points besides quests?"

[One way is through the host's daily bonus. Another way is by altering the course of the story in some way.]

"I see. So I'll end up getting involved in the plot, huh? Wait. You said one of the ways is the daily bonus, but I haven't received anything like that yet."

[The host is correct. This is due to the system's incompetence. The system apologizes. Would the host like to receive the daily bonus now?]

"Yes."

[Loading daily bonus… Load complete. The host has received 20 SP. As compensation for the mistake, the system grants an additional 10 SP. Does the host feel satisfied?]

"Thank you. This pleases me. Since there doesn't seem to be any more information here, I'll move on to the next option."

He said this as a new window with multiple slots labeled "Inventory" opened.

[Inventory:]

Occupied slots: (0/24)

Seeing the empty slots before him, Kazuya asked what was on his mind.

"System, how can I store items in the inventory?"

[Please approach an object and make physical contact with it, then use the command

to store it. To retrieve an item, use the command .]

After hearing the explanation, the boy wanted to test it.

Picking up a pencil from his desk, he mentally issued the command Collect, and the pencil disappeared from his hand, appearing in one of the slots in the window before him.

The occupied slots indicator changed from (0/24) to (1/24).

Then, thinking Extract, the pencil reappeared in his hand.

"Alright. That's enough for now. Since the store seems to be locked, I'll have to stop my system inspection for the time being."

He said, standing up from his bed and stretching his body.

"For now, my goal will be to increase the number of modules I have and improve my physical condition."

One month later…

Kazuya was currently sitting in front of a laptop, typing at an astonishing speed.

In this month, Kazuya had improved significantly both physically and mentally, and his skills were something to be proud of.

Finishing his writing, he stood up and began stretching his body.

"With this, I guess I've met the daily quota."

He said while checking one of his skills.

• Writing Skills Lv4 (2350/4000)

While brainstorming ways to achieve his goals, he realized that one of the essential resources he'd need was money. So, he got several part-time jobs to raise some funds for his needs and stop depending on his parents.

The first one was at a karaoke bar, where the original Kazuya would eventually work. There, he acquired a PNL (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) skill, which helped him understand the body language of others. This skill turned out to be useful in his job since many people were indecisive.

Besides this, while browsing the internet, he noticed that this world had things that didn't exist in his original world, while many other things were completely absent.

Kazuya saw this as an opportunity for himself. Thanks to his growing modules, understanding how things worked and the thoughts of the creators behind them became easy for him. He was confident he could use his knowledge from his original world to live a luxurious life in this one.

Starting with the translation of novels and other books, the boy dove deep into every topic he deemed necessary to achieve his long-desired goals.

For anyone, there was nothing better than being their own boss in a business that ran smoothly without the pressure of others.

This led him to acquire over fifty different skills within a month.

Still, what surprised him the most was that the plot hadn't even started yet. It was as if, no matter how much time passed, he was still at the beginning.

So far, he hadn't received any calls from his parents about his grandmother's worsening condition or anything like that. As for university, his friends had noticed the changes in him, but he just responded with jokes, and they didn't give it much thought. His ex-girlfriend's case had also turned strange since, out of nowhere, she started getting closer to him again, but he rejected her every time. There was also no trace of Chizuru Ichinose, despite living right next door to each other.

"If it weren't for my typing skill, I wouldn't be able to finish on time. Even if Siri calls it useless, it's definitely something practical."

He kept thinking about the different uses for each skill he had acquired so far.

"Hmm..."

Kazuya was pulled out of his thoughts when he heard the doorbell.

Approaching the door, he looked through the peephole and was surprised to see who was standing there.

"I know you're in there, Kazuya, so open the door..."

An angry voice sounded.

Kazuya quickly rushed to open the door.

"I'm really sorry."

He apologized, scratching the back of his neck as a cold sweat ran down his face.
