~Ahvia~
I had barely gotten any sleep at night, I was exhausted from following Damien the whole damn campus and what did he do? He didn't even talk, just remained silent!.
my brain was constantly replaying the scene and the images from earlier, it felt like my mind wouldn't shut up.
Around 3 a.m., I heard the grunts, and harsh sounds followed by a soft thud. My heart pounded in my chest, what was happening? and like every time instead of minding my own business again, I got up to check, whatever was happening.
Damien was sitting on the edge of his bed, his head in his hands. The faint light from the moon penetrated in, revealing something unusual. His back was shining. I squinted, trying to see some of it. Maybe it was a shirt or some kind of new fabric he was wearing?but why was it shining?
"Damien?" I called, my voice came out as a whisper.
He tensed, his body stiffened, then quickly turned, his golden eyes were shining with a sharp warning.
But it wasn't just his gaze that caught my attention. Are those scales!? sparkling lowly on his skin.
No. That couldn't be right, I guess I was still asleep.
"Are you okay?" I asked, still not sure what I was looking at.
He didn't answer, but his breathing became even faster, like he was in some pain. I took a step forward, cautiously wanting to help. "Damien, what's going on?"
Before I could get any closer, he stood up abruptly, a low grunt escaping his lips. "Don't touch me!" he growled, then shoved me away, more forcefully than I expected. I stumbled back, barely catching myself.
He moved so fast,I couldn't help but wonder. One second, he was standing near the bed, and the next, he was out the door, gone in the blink of an eye.
What The Hell!? I was just trying to make sure he was alright!
I stood there, confused, my heart was still racing from the sudden turn of events. My hand was still on the spot where he had pushed me, and the shock of it all kept me rooted to the floor.
After a moment of stunned silence, I made my way back to my bed, trying to make sense of what had just happened. It didn't take long for sleep to overtake me.
When morning came, I found myself sitting at the breakfast table with Iris, trying to act normal, though my mind was still in a mess trying to make sense of whatever had happened last night with Damien.
"Hey, I gotta ask," I said casually, trying to hide the curiosity that I had in my chest. "What do you know about Damien's family?"
Iris froze her fork hovering near her mouth. Then she lowered it slowly, as though considering how much to share.
How bad was it?! I wondered.
"No one really knows much about his family," she said quietly. "They're... mysterious. People think they're involved in something; something no one talks about."
A chill ran down my spine. That was... not comforting at all.
And why did I have this feeling... like I was about to uncover something I couldn't handle?
A monster?
