The moment Obito was resurrected through Edo Tensei and opened his eyes, he immediately activated Kamui and aimed it at Hyuga Gakuya.
"How dare you interrupt me and Rin—do you have a death wish?!"
Gakuya calmly formed a seal again, instantly regaining control over the furious Obito.
"That corpse in the Kamui dimension… that must be the legendary Nohara Rin, right?"
He smiled faintly. "You wouldn't want me disturbing her soul, would you?"
Just as expected, Obito fell silent. His gaze, however, remained fixed on Gakuya with a burning intensity.
The weight of those words was undeniable. His love for Rin ran deep—deep enough that even the idea of disturbing her after death was intolerable.
"I won't touch her," Gakuya said smoothly, "as long as you play your part obediently."
Obito took a deep breath, visibly forcing down his rage, then nodded.
"Fine. I'll be your puppet. My soul's already tainted anyway… But you must never disturb Rin's rest."
"Of course. Between a Mangekyō wielder and a medic-nin, the choice is obvious, isn't it?"
Obito nodded again, this time more wearily.
From the ground, a coffin slowly rose. Gakuya gestured toward it.
"In you go."
Without another word, Obito stepped inside. The lid slid shut and sank back into the earth, waiting for Gakuya's next summon.
I, Hyuga Gakuya, always conquer with virtue.
"Kabuto," he said, turning away, "start searching for powerful deceased shinobi. Within two years, I want a full-fledged Edo Tensei army."
It was time to move on to the next phase of his plan.
...
The shinobi world, after Gakuya's arrival, had fallen into a rare era of peace. Two years passed in the blink of an eye.
During that time, much had changed.
On Gakuya's side, the Federation continued to grow steadily. Its economy and technology advanced rapidly. Diplomatic ties were established with all nations. Under Gakuya's guidance, the Federation had essentially become the police of the shinobi world—protecting smaller countries, assisting in development, and maintaining balance.
The forbidden technique Heaven's Resurrection had finally been completed. But no one—Gakuya included—had the chakra or life force needed to activate it. Still, he had mastered it. For when the time came.
He had also built up a fearsome Edo Tensei army. The graves of every known Kage-level shinobi the Five Great Villages could still find had already been emptied.
Over in Konoha, the plan to win over Hinata and Hanabi was progressing nicely. Thanks to Gakuya's frequent diplomatic visits and letter exchanges, both sisters had fallen deeply for him.
Naruto had returned from his training with Jiraiya. Alongside Sakura, who had trained under Tsunade, and a former Root member named Sai, the new Team 7 was formed.
Not all Root agents had died in the massacre—some had been away on missions and survived.
In Sunagakure, Gaara, with Chiyo's help, successfully became the Fifth Kazekage.
The other three major villages had remained relatively quiet.
...
Meanwhile, the Akatsuki had begun their plan to hunt the Tailed Beasts. With the Three-Tails resurrected, all nine beasts now existed in the world once more.
In the Land of Rain, the Akatsuki convened for a meeting. Everyone was present—except for Chiba Mokushū. Only Konan and Nagato knew the truth about his identity.
Nagato's thinking was simple: the Federation was a backup plan. If the Ten-Tails project failed, then it would prove his own path was flawed.
And if he were to die—then Chiba Mokushū would take over Akatsuki and continue the mission of unifying the shinobi world.
Tendo Pain sat at the head of the table, assigning targets for the Tailed Beast capture missions.
"One-Tail—Deidara and Sasori."
"Two-Tails—Kakuzu and Hidan."
"Three-Tails—Kisame and Uchiha Itachi."
"Five-Tails—Hyuga Gakuya."
"Six-Tails—Konan and myself."
Pain looked around. "Any objections to the plan?"
Seeing none, he nodded. "Good. This mission must proceed without a single error. True peace is within reach."
"The One-Tail's jinchūriki is now Kazekage and should still be in Sunagakure. Deidara, Sasori—you may begin. I'll notify the rest of you as we locate the other jinchūriki."
Gakuya knew how this mission would go. Deidara would have his arm crushed. Sasori would lose his life. That was the path they'd each chosen.
Still, Gakuya offered, "Need a hand? I've always wanted to see this Kazekage in action."
Deidara scoffed. "What, you think we can't handle it? Just wait for the good news."
Sasori, too, declined. "The two of us are more than enough."
"Suit yourselves," Gakuya said, letting it go.
To a shinobi, death was just another Tuesday. If they died, it only meant he'd add their names to his resurrection list.
Although… he should collect Sasori's body afterward. The man's puppets were masterpieces, far too valuable to leave to that amateur Kankurō.
As the two departed, Gakuya stood as well. Before leaving, he turned to Itachi.
"Konoha recently found Orochimaru's corpse. Confirmed dead. Your brother killed him."
Of course, that was all staged—meant to be seen by Naruto and Itachi.
Just as he'd expected, Itachi visibly relaxed at the news.
Gakuya added with a smirk, "According to intel, he took three of Orochimaru's experiments with him. He's out there now, hunting you down."
Stronger than his canon counterpart, equipped with cutting-edge ninja tech, and accompanied by three former Orochimaru subordinates Gakuya had handpicked to replace the likes of Karin and Suigetsu.
"I see," Itachi replied coldly.
"Oh, I'm very much looking forward to your brotherly reunion."
With that, Gakuya exited the meeting room, anticipation building. Soon, Sasuke would awaken his Mangekyō. And then—another Eternal Mangekyō would be his.
A worthwhile investment, finally paying off.
He activated Kamui and warped back to his Federation office. Inside, his personal secretary, Karin, stood waiting.
"Contact Sunagakure," he instructed. "Tell them the Supreme Leader will be visiting in person to discuss cooperation."
Two years had changed Karin. Now fully grown, she didn't rush off right away. Instead, she rounded the desk, plopped herself into Gakuya's lap, and rubbed herself against him with deliberate intent.
Licking her lips, she murmured, "Let's handle the important matters a little later."
