Chapter 3 - The irritating interruption

Just as I thought our lips were about to meet, just when I started to enjoy the intense moment, just when I got my hopes up...

Cyborg barges in with a loud-

"PIZZA'S HERE!"

He yells holding up the box of pizza in his left hand, and a soda liter in his right, then his excited face turns to one of shock as he sees the scene in front of him. "Uhh... was i interrupting something?"

My face heats up instantly.

"DUDE!" I hear, then i see Beast boy shift out of nowhere from a small fly on the wall, to a green little gremlin who looks like his favorite toy was taken. "It was just starting to get good! I have been craving for this sort of drama for so long... AND YOU HAD TO BARGE IN HERE AND RUIN I-" he pauses when he sees the pizza in Cyborgs hand, then with a stubborn frown and a huff, he swipes it out of his grasp. "I guess I'll forgive you since there's pizza involved." He says, walking out of the room with it in tow, Cyborg immediately running after him, yelling to get it back.

With all the commotion, I almost forget the position I'm in...

But I don't.

I look at how close we are and my face goes crimson once more, but before I could get a word in, Starfire backs up, clasping her hands in front of her with an excited smile. "Ooh! I must retrieve a slice of the pizza before Friend Beast Boy consumes it all!" And just like that, the girl of my dreams zooms off... all because of the pizza.

I stand stunned, then with a groan, I lean back against the wall, crossing my arms, and pouting.

I don't ever pout.

But in this case, I allowed myself to be bummed for at least a little while.

But a little while turned to a long while. The longer Starfire was gone, the more that aching, needing feeling grew in my chest like a parasite with the intention to eat me from the inside. And the metaphorical parasite was winning. I sigh as I walk down the hall towards my room, and I mumble "damn it... why did I let her go?" But even as I walk into my room and change out of my super suit, even as I lay in bed looking up at the ceiling with that same disappointed pout, even as I thought real hard about the recent events of the night, I still couldn't find the answer. And as I lay there, sulking, with sleep not finding it's way to me, the same thought swirls in my mind over and over...

You should've locked the door.
