Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 : Cheers

After selecting his Class, Daniel proceeded to the Weapon Room — a place where every student could pick one weapon based on their chosen Class.

But as soon as he entered...

He noticed something strange.

Unlike the other Classes, the section for Assassin-class weapons was almost empty.

There were barely any weapons displayed here.

"Guess not many people choose Assassin Class..." Daniel thought to himself, looking around casually.

Still, the rule was clear — he could only choose one weapon.

His eyes scanned the limited options… daggers, throwing knives, short blades…

And finally, he picked up a simple-looking dagger— a small, sharp dagger, perfect for stealth.

Without wasting much time, Daniel left the room and headed toward the Training Building.

But the moment he reached there —

He stopped.

There was a huge crowd of students gathered outside the training area — everyone excited, hyped up, showing off their newly acquired weapons, swinging swords, trying skills, chatting loudly.

Daniel frowned.

"Tch… this isn't what I came for…"

What he actually wanted to see… was the Training Room itself — rumored to be incredibly advanced with modern facilities.

But seeing the noisy crowd…

"Forget it… I'll come back later."

Without making any noise, Daniel turned around and quietly walked away.

Sometime later…

His steps naturally took him to the outskirts of the academy.

Toward the forest.

Quiet… peaceful… and perfect for training in solitude.

Just the way he liked it.

But contrary to his expectations…

Daniel wasn't alone there.

A little ahead, near the trees… he noticed Petra — completely focused on her training.

She was practicing with her bow and arrows.

She had marked several target points on different trees — and was shooting at them one by one.

Sometimes hitting dead center…

Sometimes missing by an inch.

Daniel quietly walked closer, observing her silently.

His footsteps were soundless.

It was the subtle advantage of being an Assassin-class —

Moving without making even the slightest noise.

Petra… completely unaware of his presence… kept practicing till her last arrow was fired.

She let out a long breath, exhausted.

And just as she turned slightly back—

"Oh! My gosh!"

She gasped in shock.

Her eyes widened seeing Daniel standing right there — barely a few steps away.

Startled… she lost her balance and fell slightly backward, sitting on the ground in surprise.

"W-Where did you come from?!" Petra exclaimed, still catching her breath.

Petra narrowed her eyes and said —

"Why are you standing here like some creep? And since when have you been watching me?"

Daniel casually shrugged and replied —

"I came here for training too... but when I saw you practicing so seriously, I thought I shouldn't disturb your concentration... so I stayed quiet."

Petra rolled her eyes —

"Hmph... You could've at least warned me..."

Daniel gave a slight smirk —

"By the way, thanks for making these targets..."

Saying that, Daniel pulled out his dagger from his waist…

And with sharp focus, he threw it straight at the target on the tree — hitting it dead center.

Seeing that, Petra's mouth fell open in shock.

Daniel casually walked towards the target and pulled out his dagger.

Petra, still surprised, asked —

"How did you do that?"

Daniel looked at her and asked —

"Isn't your class Archery?"

Petra nodded, and Daniel, in his usual calm tone, replied —

"My eyes were just focused on my target."

Saying this, he shrugged casually and started walking deeper into the forest.

Petra, following him quickly, asked —

"Where are you going?"

Daniel stopped for a moment and said —

"To train."

Petra's eyes widened —

"You? And training? Am I dreaming or what?"

Daniel didn't reply to her teasing and simply continued walking into the forest.

Petra stood there silently, just watching Daniel's back slowly disappearing into the depths of the jungle. But soon, she shook her head and focused back on her own training.

She loaded an arrow onto her bow, pulled the string tight, and aimed carefully at her target. This time, her focus was sharp — only on her aim.

She released the string — Thwack! — The arrow hit the bullseye perfectly.

Petra chuckled softly to herself —

"Never thought advice from someone like Daniel — a complete trash — would actually help..."

Saying that, she glanced once again towards the jungle where Daniel had gone.

After traveling for a while, Daniel finally reached the place where he had hidden some mana crystals inside a hollow of a tree. He quietly picked them up and put them into his bag. After that, he started heading back towards the Academy.

While walking towards his dormitory, Daniel suddenly got a notification on his smartwatch.

It was a message from the group chat his friends had created, called Oddjobs Club. The latest message was from Ren —

[Let's go party today]

Immediately, Rex replied —

[Great idea]

Then Ray joined in —

[I'm in]

Soon after, Ren sent another message —

[What about you, Den?]

Daniel started typing —

[How can we go outside of the Academy?]

Ray replied —

[You forgot or what? We made a fraud club, remember? So that we can have fun outside]

Daniel thought to himself — "So these guys actually created a fake club just to get permission to go outside..."

A small laugh escaped his lips at their clever trick. Then he started typing —

[Sure, I'm in]

Around 8 PM, Daniel, Ren, Rey, and Rex finally reached a fancy club in the capital. The rules here were strict — kids below 16 weren't allowed inside, which clearly meant none of them had ever entered a club before... except Daniel.

The club looked just like any typical bar or party place — loud music, crazy lighting effects, girls dancing, and people completely lost in the vibe of the party.

As soon as they entered, all four of them ran straight to the dance floor and started dancing like there was no tomorrow — letting loose, laughing, and enjoying every second.

After a while, tired from all the dancing, they all sat down at a table and ordered a glass of beer each — their very first drink ever. The four glasses were placed on the table.

Ren picked up his glass and said dramatically,

"Guys, this is going to be our first drinking party... and our very first step into adulthood. Will you guys take this step with me?"

Rex, lifting his glass, got a little emotional,

"Never thought this day would come..."

Rey too lifted his glass, smiling,

"For our friendship."

Daniel found the whole situation kinda funny — the way they were treating their first drink like some grand ceremony. But smiling, he raised his glass too,

"Yeah, guys. Let's rock!"

And then, all four of them clinked their glasses together and shouted excitedly in unison —

"Cheers!"

And then, all of them took their very first sip of beer.

The very next second, Ren and Rex instantly spat the beer out like a fountain from their mouths.

Ren stuck out his tongue in disgust, "Yuk! This is so bitter! Why do adults even drink this stuff?"

Rex nodded quickly, "Yeah! I thought it'd be awesome since adults always drink this and seem to enjoy it so much."

Rey too made a gross face, "I'm never touching beer again in my life!"

Meanwhile, Daniel had already finished his entire glass without flinching. Placing the empty glass back on the table, he chuckled, "Exactly... that's why kids should stay away from alcohol."

Saying that, he casually stood up and went back to the dance floor, starting to dance again.

Rex stared at Daniel's empty glass, shocked, "Damn, Den really finished the whole thing!"

Motivated, Ren pinched his nose with one hand, grabbed his glass, and chugged the whole thing in one go. "I'm not backing down either!" he declared proudly and went straight to the dance floor.

Seeing that, Rex too lifted his glass, gulped down all the beer with a determined expression, and stood up, "Alright! I'm coming too!" He ran off to join them on the dance floor.

Feeling the pressure, even Rey sighed, picked up his glass reluctantly, finished it off, and followed them onto the dance floor.

After dancing like crazy for a while, Daniel, while still dancing, subtly raised his little finger — signaling that he was going to the toilet.

Then, casually, he made his way towards the male washroom.
