Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE

I'm currently at the court, watching the practice, when my best friend Liam called out to me, "Saori!" I turned around, and immediately noticed the anger and handsome face.

Liam is handsome, with a sharp nose, round eyes, captivating brown eyes, thick eyebrows, soft hair that's curly today, and add to that his tall and lean physique, and fair but not too fair skin.

He's really handsome, so it's no surprise that many of the girls in our school chase him and have a crush on him. In fact, he's currently in the top list in most handsome in our school. If he weren't my friend, I might have fallen for him already.

"Saori!" he shouted again, bringing me back to reality. "H-huh?" I stuttered in response. "Did you see my message?" my best friend Liam shouted at me.

"What?" I asked.

"Did you see my message?" he asked again, annoyed.

"Why? What's up?" I asked while walking towards him.

"Just check it!" he said, raising an eyebrow.

I walked towards my bag, which was on the other side of where I was sitting. My eyes widened when I saw all the messages and missed calls from Liam.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"There's an activity, and I need a partner. I thought of you because you're my only friend," he explained.

It's been eight years since Liam and I met. We were both in fourth grade then.

Flashback

I was in the school garden back then, and I tripped and fell. I quickly looked around to see if anyone saw me, sat down on the edge of a flowerbed, and cried.

A boy suddenly appeared, running towards me. "Are you okay?" he asked, looking worried.

Because of embarrassment, I cried even harder. "Hey, don't cry," he said, trying to calm me down. He stayed with me until I stopped crying.

"Are you okay now?" he asked again.

I nodded slowly. "Liam," he introduced himself, offering his hand. He smiled at me, and I couldn't help but look away.

"Don't you want to shake hands?" he asked, his hand still outstretched. I slowly raised my hand and shook his.

"Liam," he repeated his name. "S-saori," I stuttered in response. He smiled widely. "Let's be friends, okay?" he said.

End of Flashback

"Sorry," I apologized to Liam.

"When is the activity?" I asked.

"Next week," he replied, still looking a bit annoyed.

"Sorry. What do you want?" I asked, trying to make amends.

"Barbecue and Sprite," he replied quickly. Even when he's mad, food can easily win him over.

We were at the barbecue place, eating his favorite food. "Are you okay now? Are we good?" I asked.

He just smiled and nodded. It's as if he's trying to be cute.

"You think you're cute?" I teased him. He made a face and pouted.

We're now at our favorite hangout spot, an empty lot with a great view. It's quiet, and we're just enjoying the scenery. Liam suddenly broke the silence. "If I had a girlfriend, I'd bring her here."

"What? That's so random. And by the way, you're a boy?" I joked, laughing. "I thought you were gay."

"You just thought that," he said seriously, using his naturally deep voice. I looked at Liam, and he was staring at me too, so I quickly looked away.

Why is he acting like this? First, he was mad at me for not responding to his messages, then he was trying to be cute during lunch, and now he's looking at me like that. WHAT IF-
