Chapter 3 - chapter 3: The saints

Scene 1

Lilith walked down the dark corridor leading to the great hall. Her heels echoed with each step, but something about the air felt heavy—oppressive. Fear crawled up her spine for no apparent reason. She turned to her servant. "Who's here?"

The servant lowered his head. "It's the King."

Lilith's eyes widened. She quickened her pace.

When she arrived, there he was—the Demon King, Lucifer—sitting on her throne as though it had always belonged to him. His eyes glinted like twin fires.

"Welcome… you failure," he said coldly.

Lilith dropped to her knees, trembling. "My lord, I seek forgiveness."

Lucifer's tone turned venomously calm. "Out of all the generals I have, you should know very well—I do not do forgiveness. I even sent one of your brave warriors to get the job done, and he was reduced to ashes!"

"Give me a second chance," she begged.

Silence filled the hall like smoke. Then Lucifer smirked. "Bruh, isn't that the same as forgiveness? Isn't it?"

"Is it?" she echoed hesitantly.

"Mmm… I don't think so," he replied with mocking drama. Then his voice turned serious. "Get up and go again. Be committed this time. Look at this from a different angle. Find the weak spot—and strike it."

And with that, he vanished in a blink of lightless flame.

Scene 2

Lilith returned to the body she possessed—Lutia. On the way to school, her mind echoed with Lucifer's words.

What is his weak spot? she pondered.

Suddenly, her driver slammed on the brakes. She was thrown forward into the front seat.

"Fool!" she screamed, her eyes glowing crimson. Her nails elongated like daggers, her teeth sharpened. In a flash of rage, she leapt at the driver and drained his soul.

A shadow emerged beside her—a servant from the underworld.

"Take this body," she commanded.

The creature obeyed.

"Hope you won't make sudden stops too," she said coldly.

"No, my queen," the new driver replied.

Scene 3

After Psal was released from the hospital, he, MJ, and his mother returned home. They skipped school that day. Meanwhile, Lutia felt uneasy and out of place at school, so she left during break and went to Psal's home.

She rang the bell. MJ opened the door.

"You again?" MJ raised an eyebrow. "How do you keep knowing where we are?"

"I have my ways," Lutia said with a sweet but empty smile, brushing past her.

"Don't you think it's fishy, Psal? How does she even know your apartment number?"

"Chill, MJ. Maybe I told her," Psal joked.

His mom called from the kitchen. "Come eat, lunch is ready."

Before anyone took a bite, she said, "Let's pray."

They closed their eyes. "Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this food. Thank you for your love and faithfulness. May your presence always protect us. Amen."

"Amen," they all echoed.

They opened their eyes.

"Where's Lutia?" MJ asked.

"She was just here," Psal said, puzzled.

"She disappeared without a trace," MJ said suspiciously.

Suddenly, Lutia reappeared, stepping into the dining room.

"You guys aren't eating yet? Aww, were you waiting for me?"

"Where were you?" MJ pressed.

"In the bathroom," Lutia replied smoothly.

"When did you go there?"

"Let's just eat," Psal said, brushing it off. "I'm starving."

Scene 4

When Lutia returned to her place, she got comfortable in her room—but then, a sudden wave of fear and pain washed over her.

"What was that?!" she screamed.

She mentally replayed the moment at the dining table—the moment Psal's mother started praying. As the words of the prayer rang out, it was like white noise that exploded into her mind. Her ears rang, her vision blurred. Her brain felt like it was melting.

She had to escape—to the bathroom, away from the burning purity in those words.

"That's why they didn't see me when they opened their eyes," she whispered. "It's her… all this time… How could I have been so blind?" Lilith burst into laughter, sharp and echoing. "AHAHAHAHA! I need a plan."

She stormed into the bathroom, her eyes glowing, her energy boiling. Stepping into the bathtub, she sank beneath the water—and vanished into the underworld.

"Emergency meeting!" she thundered as she emerged before her demons. The chamber filled instantly with her generals and spirit operatives.

For hours they plotted, ran simulations with all their infernal tech and magic. Each attempt to destroy Psal's mother ended in failure.

"USELESS! ALL OF YOU ARE USELESS!" Lilith screamed, hurling a globe of fire that exploded against the chamber walls. With that, she stormed out of the spirit realm and returned to the human world.

Back in Lutia's house, Lilith—still in her true demonic form—descended from her room. At the dining table sat Lutia's parents, calmly eating dinner. The maid, spotting Lilith, screamed and dropped a tray of plates.

The parents fell face down in terror.

Lilith grabbed the maid by the neck and drained her soul in one breath.

"What troubles you, my queen?" Lutia's father asked, his voice quivering.

"I gave you humans everything," Lilith hissed. "Riches, power, luxury. I possessed your daughter, made her a queen of my darkness. But still—it's not enough! I AM NOT SATISFIED!"

"What do you want? Anything—we'll do it," Lutia's mother stammered, shaking.

Lilith's eyes burned like twin suns. "Answers."

She grabbed Lutia's father by the throat and lifted him.

"Tell me, humans—what is the most destructive thing in this world?"

"TELL ME!"

Suddenly, a narrow beam of light pierced the window from the street outside. Lilith snarled.

"Love… Trust…" Lutia's mother whispered.

"Love. Trust," Lilith repeated, narrowing her eyes. Then… "Damage…"

She let go of the man's throat and began to laugh again. Her form shimmered, and she returned to her host's appearance—Lutia.

"Thank you, Mom," she said with a soft, sinister smile, and walked calmly back to her room.

Outside, on the street…

A figure in all white stood beneath the glow of a streetlamp. She wore a sleek, angelic variation of ninja garb—lightweight fabric that flowed like silk, laced with golden symbols of light. Her face was hidden behind a white veil. A golden belt wrapped her waist, and a luminous harp was slung across her back.

She stared intently at Lutia's house.

Another figure landed silently behind her, cloaked similarly but armed with twin gold daggers.

"Milkha… was that necessary?" the second one asked.

"The woman is innocent," Milkha replied. "It was her husband's greed that brought them here. I had to intervene. I used a Hymn of Wisdom. It was enough."

"Alright, let's go back to PL," said the second. "This dark presence makes me sick."

They vanished.

Back in Lutia's room…

Lutia stared into the mirror, excitement dancing in her eyes. Her true demonic reflection grinned back at her.

"I finally got the answer," she whispered. "Even my demons failed, but I figured it out…"

She kept reliving the scene in her head—over and over again—until something stood out.

"A light. There was a tiny laser… What was that?"

Her smile dropped.

"Wait… don't tell me…"

She stepped back from the mirror, eyes wide.

"It's the… No. No way…"

She whispered the name like a curse.

"The Saints."
