Under the ghost-faced mask, Hyuga Kagami's Tenseigan shimmered with a brilliant light, as if he was trying to fully perceive the essence of the Dragon Vein.
Whoooosh...
The howling wind grew increasingly violent!
Stones around them were swept up by the wind, spinning around the altar like a tornado, crashing into everything with thunderous booms.
Even the ground began to tremble.
Cracks formed on the stone floor, spreading rapidly in all directions. Within moments, the ground looked like a shattered tortoiseshell.
The Queen of Loran staggered a few steps before collapsing.
The violent wind nearly blinded her, and shielding her face with her arms, she struggled to speak. "The Dragon Vein is growing more unstable... I... I can't control it at all!"
Hyuga Kagami quickly moved to shield her. His voice was calm. "Don't panic. It's breaking free of the seal. A little agitation is expected."
Protected by him, the Queen of Loran slowly climbed to her feet, confused and shaken. "Why aren't you afraid at all?"
To her, it felt like the end of the world.
In such a setting, she believed no one could stay calm—but Hyuga Kagami stood like a rock, unmoved.
She couldn't help but question his identity. In her view, only someone bearing the title of a Kage might face the Dragon Vein with such composure.
By now, only a few sealing scripts from the Fourth Hokage's Dragon Vein seal remained.
ROAR—
As the last of the scripts shattered, a soul-stirring dragon's roar echoed from the depths beneath the altar!
Hyuga Kagami's eyes narrowed. "It's nearly free."
Clinging to his cloak amidst the storm, the Queen of Loran cried out, "I... I can feel it!"
Clang—
With the final seal breaking, the Flying Thunder God kunai embedded in the altar—the key to the seal—was flung away.
In an instant, an enormous wave of chakra burst from the abyss, shattering the altar's ceiling and rising into the sky in a pillar of energy, illuminating the entire night.
Hyuga Kagami frowned.
Through his Tenseigan, he saw not just immense chakra, but an unfamiliar, eerie force woven within it—something that gave him pause.
Moreover, the sheer magnitude of the unsealing had far exceeded his expectations.
Gazing at the massive chakra column piercing the heavens, he knew it wouldn't take long before Sunagakure sent a team to investigate. Time was short.
Suppressing his suspicions, Hyuga Kagami began the final phase of his Artificial Tailed Beast Plan.
Quickly, through a rapid series of hand seals, the purple clay husk began to swell, growing ever larger.
"Open!"
As he funneled chakra into the artificial body, a glow flickered at the seal on its mouth, which then began to open like a massive maw.
"What is that...?"
The Queen of Loran stared in shock.
Hyuga Kagami formed more hand seals, then pressed one hand to the ground.
Instantly, sealing symbols spread out like a spiderweb across the entire altar.
This was the Chakra Sealing Technique recorded in the Artificial Tailed Beast Scroll. Orochimaru had speculated that it was developed by the Second Hokage specifically for this project.
Taking a deep breath, Hyuga Kagami activated the sealing technique and shouted over his shoulder, "Now! Help me suppress the Dragon Vein!"
The Queen of Loran looked up and saw the purple clay husk lunging toward the pillar of chakra like a gaping mouth.
"It's devouring the Dragon Vein's chakra!"
Stunned, she was torn inside.
The Dragon Vein was a symbol of Loran, a treasure passed down through generations of queens. Watching it get taken away before her eyes was unbearable.
Yet thinking of her people—those who had followed her loyally—rekindled her resolve.
"The true treasure of Loran... is its people!"
Her eyes firmed. No more hesitation.
Meanwhile, Hyuga Kagami was visibly strained. The sheer volume of chakra far surpassed his estimates.
In just a moment, the purple husk had expanded tenfold, its size bursting through the walls of the altar tower and collapsing the entire upper structure.
Without the tower's barrier, the swirling winds kicked up a sandstorm that engulfed the ruins of the ancient city.
"Why are you still standing there?! Hurry up!" Hyuga Kagami urged.
Resolute now, the Queen of Loran shouted, "By my name as Queen, I command you—restrain your power!"
With her voice, the winds subsided significantly, and the chakra pillar shrank. The situation appeared to stabilize.
"It's working!" Hyuga Kagami exclaimed in relief. "Can you suppress it further?"
She shook her head. "This is as far as I can go."
"Then keep an eye on it—don't let anything else go wrong."
With a quick word of instruction, Hyuga Kagami focused entirely on the sealing technique.
Thanks to her efforts, the Dragon Vein had calmed, making the chakra extraction much easier.
The purple husk continued gulping down the Dragon Vein's chakra, swelling larger and larger—soon so massive that it nearly blocked out the sky.
Minutes passed.
"The husk is reaching its limit..."
Hyuga Kagami's face grew more serious as he watched the construct bloat to its edge.
Fortunately, the chakra pillar had weakened dramatically, and the winds had stopped. The Dragon Vein, it seemed, was running dry.
The Queen of Loran looked sorrowful, sensing the fading connection between herself and the Dragon Vein.
Whoosh...
With a final gust of wind, the chakra pillar dissipated entirely.
Seeing the operation complete, Hyuga Kagami quickly formed a hand seal and shouted, "Seal!"
All the sealing formulas on the purple clay husk lit up. Under layer upon layer of sealing power, the massive construct began to shrink...
