Chapter 41 - CHAPTER FORTY

Justine accompanied Sheila to her mansion today; Justine had no choice but to take care of the woman in front of him.

"Hey, I need to rest for a while." That was all he heard from the woman accompanying him.

"Okay, the day is still long." He whispered to Sheila.

Justine even made Sheila laugh, and he helped her go upstairs to rest in the room.

"Get some rest," Justine said tersely at that time.

 "Yeah," Sheila agrees with him.

They were the only two in the large mansion now; the surroundings were quiet, the darkness was creeping in, and Sheila told him that the mansion was privately inherited from her older sister. He only scanned his surroundings.

Welcome back!. How many decades has it been since I last visited here? He found himself asking, holding a drink. Suddenly, his phone vibrated.

He just looked at it; it was from his client. He didn't answer it for now. Justine's body is still tired right now.

Well, let's do this, Justine; you're already here, right? Let's see what I can discover in this town. He just mentioned it to himself.

He needs to return to the town of San Mateo because he has something important to do there; he needs to find the missing child of his father's sibling, who suddenly disappeared after marrying a Santiago child, and the entire family vanished without a trace.

His father thought they had gone far away to live a quiet life, taking the wife and children with them. His wife had just given birth, but the couple immediately moved away from the town of San Mateo.

According to the documents left by his father, he began to suspect that they were almost unable to write or even call home because his father's brother was not secretive and they were always inseparable.

Doubt and anxiety were already present; it had been quiet for a long time, and they didn't know the reason. Therefore, his parents insisted on investigating, but they couldn't find anything that could explain why the couple and their only child had disappeared without a trace.

In just one day, two bodies were found in San Mateo; they were thrown into the grass where they wouldn't be easily seen. The one who found them was a garbage collector; he immediately called the police, a couple, a man and a woman, and the incident was tragic. They suspected it was a married couple.

The couple, who had been missing for four years, returned, albeit in the form of a cold corpse. Her father couldn't believe it back then; he almost cursed whoever committed such a heinous crime against the couple.

They thought the child was with them, but they couldn't find them or know if they were dead or taken in. Until his father decided to search for the missing child, unsure of where to begin, he firmly believed that the child was still alive and that he would save it.

Until the very end, he did not stop searching for his brother's child. Justine just sighed at that moment.

He returned to his room, where the documents he had brought were; he needed to be careful—only one person knew his entire identity now.

He reviewed the other documents that related to what happened decades ago. The report mentioned that the Santiago family was involved in the disappearance of the two couples; it was silent about the only woman in their family being implicated as well.

He observed that there are influential clans in the town of San Mateo.

Martinez, Francisco, and Gonzalez, Santiago. Mention it in his mind. Justine discovered that the four clans had a feud that might have involved his father's brother.

Martinez-Santiago replaced his betrayed wife, Harlene Leah Martinez Santiago, with a woman named Angely Atienza. Justine chuckled softly now.

Santiago Gonzalez had a quarrel because of what happened back then, which was connected to the death of my father's brother. He thought to himself.

He stared at one clan, the Francisco. This clan was the one that intervened in the conflict of three clans; it was also neutral to all the clans he knew, which was passed down to Martin Chris Francisco, who secretly sought the truth.

Maybe I'll find something here. Justine thought to himself back then.

He only sat down, lost in deep thought.

That was a long time ago, but I also don't want to disappoint my father. I'm searching for that missing cousin. He could only think about it and let out a sigh.

He needed someone to rely on for the investigation; he had been watching the Atienza family for a long time.

I need to wade through the dirty yet easy way to find out the truth. Justine just said he was thinking.

He was startled from his thoughts when he noticed someone looking at him; he immediately turned around, but there was no one there. He just shook his head.

Aside from looking for his cousin, he also has a client he needs to help.

The sudden disappearance of Leah Martinez, huh? He thought to himself back then.

How many decades has it been? Do they still have a lead on Leah Martinez's disappearance? Justine couldn't help but wonder in his mind.

He has already formed many speculations in his mind, but Justine thinks critically about serious matters.

He needs to hide behind a dirty mask; he does that to gather more information.

I'm sorry, Martin, but I have to take this action for the benefit of a few people. I hope Martin understands my situation. I hope Martin doesn't curse me. He just thought it in his mind.

I used only our carnal desires, without any involved feelings. He could only say it in his mind, and he let out a sigh.

He admits that he is really good with women; he needs to use this to get closer.

As they say, you need to get close to your target, so I did that.

The surroundings were getting darker; he fumbled for the switch in his room when something suddenly passed in front of him. He couldn't catch it with his eyes because it moved like lightning; he rubbed his eyes. Maybe he's just seeing something else now.

He simply shrugged, surprised to find someone inside. He instinctively reached for the switch, only to exhale in relief when his partner's maid arrived.

"Sorry, sir, we forgot to turn on the light there." Apologizing to him.

He didn't respond anymore; he went straight to the room of the woman he is currently with; she might be awake by now.

The night had already become busy for them, and they had company in the large mansion where they were now.

He turned the doorknob; it was indeed unlocked.

Take a deep breath, Justine. He thought to himself.

 Sheila even smiled at him.

"Did you sleep well?" she asked him.

"Yeah."

Justine only sat beside Sheila and even helped her.
