Chapter 44 - CHAPTER FORTY-THREE

Manuel must not know the truth. Felicia thought deeply to herself.

She looked in Leah's direction. She only just clenched her hand, and she simply smiled at her.

How much does Leah know? Felicia found herself questioning in her mind. I need to find a way; I need to get out of here.

Carmela Geraldine, a name that she mentioned in her mind. There was news back when she was still alive about two bodies being thrown away, as if they were a couple; sometimes she would pass by there on her way home.

Felicia should not interfere; she should not help a soul without payment.

Everything in the world has a price. She could only think to herself. This was also her very first client, but she didn't help them because they had nothing to offer her.

Moreover, she was struggling to make a living back then to provide for her family, especially since her kind-hearted child had taken in an orphaned child and was pregnant. Felicia avoided letting it indicate that she could see them.

At times, it was solely the woman named Carmela who persistently returned to the empty lot where her body lay. She keeps going back to the same spot, searching for something she left behind.

Felicia hears every sob from Carmela whenever she passes by that place. She can only sigh. Its gaze is always distant, and its face clearly shows that it endured severe torture before losing its life.

Her life still goes on as usual when she passes by, but she didn't expect their gazes to meet; it was too late to avoid it.

"You see me, don't you?" Carmela asked her.

Felicia only sighed, realizing she couldn't avoid it anymore, so she just nodded.

"Help me." All she heard from her was a voice clearly pleading to achieve peace.

"What kind of help do you want?" Felicia asked Carmela.

"Imprison Santiago." She heard the voice of the man accompanying her; he suddenly appeared in front of her. "Can you do it?" The man asked her.

Santiago? Felicia wondered in her mind— one of the wealthy families of San Mateo.

"Do you have any proof to give me?" Felicia asked the man.

"Donald, no, the child— they have our baby." That's all she heard from the woman.

The man didn't say anything. "Can you find our child?" Donald simply asked Felicia.

"I'll come back tomorrow; we'll talk about it then. I need to go home." Felicia just said it.

The two could only nod. Occasionally, a soul searching for something in their passing can't go anywhere; it keeps returning to the place where they died.

 She just sighed.

Is their child missing? Or is it also in the hands of the Santiago family? Felicia couldn't help but wonder in her mind.

As per their conversation, he visited the vacant lot again. There, she discovered the history of the two and the manner of their murder. Undoubtedly, a child became entangled in the tragedy. The hood obscured the child's face, leaving Felicia only able to see the bracelet the child wore. The father of the woman in front of her brought it.

"What will you give me in return for my help?" She asked the two. "My service is not free." Felicia just reminded the two of them.

The two exchanged glances. The two are hesitant to answer.

"We can't give you anything, but if you talk to my brother in Gonzalez, I know they will believe you." The man named Donald hesitated to answer her.

"What if your brother doesn't believe you?" Felicia asked.

Donald didn't respond to her question, while Felicia just sighed; she organized her things.

"If you don't have any payment to give me, let's end the negotiation while we still can." Felicia could only say to them,.

"W—We just want to know if our child is okay, i—if we will still see him, p—please, we won't be at peace if—if we don't know the child's situation." Carmela was begging her; she was crying now.

She only looked at her. "Sorry, I can't help you. I'm just an ordinary person who needs money to survive. I would rather not get involved in any trouble." After saying that, she walked away from the two souls.

The child's bracelet troubled her, but she couldn't pinpoint where he had seen it. Felicia wrote in her notebook about her first client, but it didn't continue due to personal reasons.

When he met Manuel and Angely, she glimpsed Manuel's past. But she didn't say that his sister Carmela had asked for help back then; besides, she tried to save Carmela's child, but it still followed what Manuel's father ordered his son.

It was only then that she realized who the child Carmela was looking for, and that's when she understood why the bracelet looked familiar to her. Felicia hid the child's identity and name because she knew she could use it. When she learned the truth, she was pleased, so she promised herself that no one would know about it.

Felicia kept it a secret, so no one else should know, only her. Now, that secret is in danger because of a vengeful soul; it just looks at her with a smile.

"Don't worry, Felicia, I will keep my mouth shut, but it depends if I get too chatty." She just smiled at her.

She was counting on her ace; if not for Sharlene, she wouldn't have been able to visit that woman, and she didn't know who was blocking her from talking to her. So she is now relying on his two grandchildren.

I would rather not stay in this place; I would rather not be trapped here for eternity; I will never allow it. I will bury you again, Leah; I will bury you. She thought to herself back then.

Leah just shook her head at Felicia and laughed. Leah suddenly approached Felicia.

"I don't know how you're going to hide the truth, Felicia; no matter how much you hide it, it will still be found out." Leah whispered in her ear.

"Well, let's play again; you all love to play, don't you?" Leah said, staring at them. Leah asked them and stared at them.

"Ah, so boring, let's not." Leah only sighed.

"Leah, finish your game." Felicia could only say,

"Our game is infinite; we have no time to chase in this world, Felicia." Leah replied to her.

Felicia didn't say a word and just sighed.

"Don't engage with it anymore, Felicia." That's all she heard from Angely.

"Be quiet, both of you," Manuel scolded them.

Angely just shook her head; she was still thinking.

I know there's a way to escape from here.

She looked again at where she was now.
