Ingrid's eyes snapped open, revealing a pair of crescent-shaped moons with golden irises that sparkled under the faint moonlight filtering through the floor-to-ceiling window in her quarters. Wait... she opened her eyes? Didn't she die when Magus Agustus struck her down with the golden orb of the Dred Sect? What was happening here? Was... she reborn?! Impossible! Such things didn't exist in her world.
As she struggled to make sense of her surroundings, she heard hurried footsteps approaching from the fourteen-foot wooden door adorned with intricate carvings. She turned her body to face towards the door.
The door creaked open, and hushed voices filtered in. Ingrid's expression froze as she slowly looked around the room. The luxurious space was filled with opulent furnishings, including a massive four-poster bed draped with purple silk curtains and a floor-to-ceiling window that offered a breathtaking view.Just then, a shy voice called out, shaking Ingrid from her thoughts. "Young miss!"
A young girl, probably around sixteen or seventeen years old, stood before her. The girl's long, slender legs were accentuated by curvaceous thighs, and her slender waist was visible beneath the green frock with a long slit in both legs. The open neckline revealed smooth, porcelain-white skin.
Ingrid's gaze lingered on the girl's face, which was a smooth oval shape with thin lips slightly parted and straight nose accentuating her green, half-moon-shaped eyes. "Young miss," the girl repeated, her voice lower and her head hung down, a faint pink lining the corners of her ears.
"Oh... Are you talking to me?" Ingrid questioned slowly, receiving a shy nod from the girl. "What's my name?" she asked, figuring that if she was reborn, she wouldn't be using her previous name. Plus, she hadn't received any memories from the previous owner of the body like all those people had in the books she used to read.
Lilian looked at the young miss with an incredulous expression. 'Why is this ugly woman asking such a strange question?' she thought to herself but never dared to say the words out loud. 'Thump' she knelt down immediately, shaking in fear. "I dare not say your name, young miss. I'm unworthy!" Lilian exclaimed in fear and trepidation.
"Hey, what are you doing? I simply wanted to know my name. I can't seem to remember it," the young miss spoke, her tone of voice slightly increasing yet maintaining a coldness and indifference that seemed innate to her.
Just then, the slightly opened door was kicked open, and a tall, handsome man burst inside, causing Lilian to shrink into a corner. "Ingrid Michaelson, the moment you open your eyes, you start bullying your sister?" Ingrid stared at the man in front of her with knitted brows.
Oh it seems only her last name had changed but her name was still Ingrid. Why was this handsome guy so aggressive to her and he just mentioned the little servant girl isn't a servant but her sister. Then why did she call her young miss?
"Isn't this girl a servant?" Ingrid asked slowly, a hint of confusion flashing through her big, bright golden eyes. She looked at the delicate mound of flesh huddled in the corner deeply. The young girl didn't seem like a servant from the way she dressed. Usually silk shouldn't be worn by commoners right or at least a servant.
"A servant?!" the man bellowed, his face ashen with anger. Ingrid raised an eyebrow, 'This man is too aggressive, who is he?'. The little girl muffled a scream and Ingrid turned to look and her cooly. "Why are you looking at Lilly like that? You always bully her. Don't be scared Lilly, elder brother is here." the man scolded and cooed at the same time.
"Young miss....she didn't do anything. I....I was the one who angered her" Lillian said softly, each word soothing and innocent yet completely nailing Ingrid to a crucifix. Ingrid narrowed her gaze, her golden eyes flashing with a hint of understanding as her luscious lips curled into an amused smile.
"This cutie isn't as innocent as she looks, seems my stay here is gonna be interesting.' she thought to herself
