Chapter 24 - Chapter 024: Kamuro, What Are You Hiding?

You've got the wrong person.

You're in my way.

The girl named Kamuro Masumi didn't hold back at all.

"..." Nagumo.

From the moment he entered the classroom until now, Nagumo Miyabi had been in a bad mood.

What was up with this class? What was up with these students?

As he was thinking this—

"Sakayanagi is here."

Someone called out, and Nagumo turned to see a group of students entering through the classroom door.

Leading them was a frail-looking girl holding a cane in her left hand. Three students followed her—one in front, as if clearing the way, and two behind, like bodyguards.

It was as if Sakayanagi Arisu was royalty, surrounded by attendants.

Despite her small size, she looked incredibly cute, probably the cutest girl Nagumo had ever seen.

But—

Why did she carry herself with more authority than him, the student council vice president?

She was just a first-year student from Class A, wasn't she?

"Oh my, oh my, it seems we have a visitor in class today," Sakayanagi Arisu said.

Her voice was pleasant to the ears.

Oh.

Nagumo, whose mood had been getting worse and worse, suddenly felt a little better.

"Excuse me, but you're standing in my seat. Could you please move?" Sakayanagi said.

So, she only spoke up because Nagumo was in her spot?

And she also found him annoying.

Wow.

The first-year Class A students watched as the once confident and elegant student council vice president left, his presence now replaced by a cold, almost icy atmosphere.

But—

"Kamuro, did the student council vice president mistake you for someone else just now?"

Sakayanagi sat down, but she seemed quite interested in the girl behind her.

Kamuro Masumi—tall, physically strong, and seemingly well-trained.

She tended to keep to herself and didn't really associate with any groups. A bit of a loner.

"I didn't do anything like that," Kamuro said with a stiff expression.

She usually didn't stand out in class, but suddenly, everyone was looking at her. Even after Nagumo had left, the surrounding students still seemed curious.

For someone who disliked attention, this wasn't a good situation.

"Besides, I've never even been to the electronics store," Kamuro added.

Uh-huh.

So, the student council had simply accused the wrong person?

But—

That was obviously a lie.

Sakayanagi had printed out the entire first-year student registry yesterday. The moment Shirogane mentioned a girl with purple hair and two hair clips, she had already confirmed that he was referring to Kamuro.

Which meant Kamuro was deliberately denying it.

And her denial was full of holes.

From what was said earlier, the vice president only mentioned that a student had reported a shop employee for misconduct.

But he never said which shop.

Yet Kamuro immediately claimed she had never been to the electronics store.

So maybe she wasn't that smart after all.

"Well, that's a shame," Sakayanagi concluded. "If you had been the one to report it, Kamuro, our class might have gotten extra points."

Extra points?

Katsuragi had already been sitting in his seat, but after hearing that, he couldn't help but think.

Up until now, freshmen had only ever lost points in their first month. But now, it seemed like gaining points was possible too?

If Kamuro hadn't reported the shop employee, then it had to be another student. That meant another class would get the extra points instead.

But Kamuro's reaction—

Katsuragi turned to look at her, but she didn't seem interested at all in what Sakayanagi had said about earning extra points.

Looking at her attitude, it was clear—this really wasn't her doing.

And Katsuragi wasn't the type to encourage someone to take credit for something they didn't do.

So, he could only sigh.

The next class was math, so he figured he might as well take out his textbook.

...

Meanwhile, in Class 1-C.

Shirogane sat at his desk, a point card placed in front of him.

Some classmates curiously glanced over. They had heard from upperclassman Tachibana Akane that Shirogane had been rewarded by the school for reporting an incident. His reward was an unregistered point card.

The card contained 30,000 private points, which could be transferred to a student ID just by scanning it with a phone.

*Beep!*

"Would you like to deposit or transfer points?"

The point card was unique. Not only could points be withdrawn from it, but it also seemed to allow students to store their ID's points inside.

It was like a portable storage device, similar to a USB drive—but instead of storing files, it stored private points.

Still…

The real question was how something like this even existed in the first place.

Did this mean students sometimes received huge amounts of points and needed a way to store them outside their student ID?

But why would someone need to keep points separate from their ID?

For some reason, Shirogane thought of the expensive voice recorders he had seen in the electronics store.

"Didn't expect you to be such a model student," Ryuen suddenly commented.

Huh.

Hearing Ryuen speak, Shirogane turned to look at him.

There was a hint of mockery on Ryuen's face, which wasn't surprising.

After all, Shirogane had reported a store employee for breaking the rules. But at the same time, he had secretly recorded a video of Ryuen fighting and used it to blackmail him.

So calling him a "good student" didn't really fit, did it?

Ryuen was the first to reject that idea.

"I'm sure the students in Class A have already figured out the truth about this school. They used their points to buy information from the third-years," Shirogane said. "And their class is different from ours. They're naturally more capable."

Ryuen frowned.

Damn.

So that meant he had to take full control of the class within the next few days?

Otherwise, even if they learned the truth about the school early, they wouldn't be able to take advantage of it in the first month.

Still, if a so-called "trash class" like his could break the school's records and rise from the bottom to the top… that sounded like an interesting challenge.

And Ryuen did enjoy a good challenge.
