"Sam, what are you doing?" Alyssa yelled nervously, but Sam remained in his position.
She looked at Marissa who was surprised by the turn of events.
Anna watched the entire scene play off, and she had to admit, she found it refreshing to see Sam falling to his knees just to apologize, even if it wasn't to her.
As if Marissa knew what was on Anna's mind, she said to Sam, "I'm not the one you hurt, I think you are apologising to the wrong person."
Sam turned to Anna, maintaining his position, and he bowed several times.
"Please forgive me Anna, I was wrong," Sam apologized, tears escaping from his eyes.
But Anna could not tell if his apology was genuine, or if he was just scared by the punishment he had to face for lying.
Anyways, Anna has resolved to cut ties with him. She didn't wish to be with a man who found it easy to cheat on her. She would rather the Moon Goddess not give her any mate again.
"Sam, what the hell are you doing? I thought I was the one you loved," Alyssa could not hold back, and she lashed out at him.
"You were the one who seduced me, and you made me lose my mate, I can never forgive you for that," Sam snarled in return.
He then turned to look at Anna who had an indifferent expression, "Anna, please forgive me, I was blind."
"Didn't you say you wanted three pups? We could work hard, I'll build a big house just for both of us, nobody will come in between us again, please, just say you forgive me," Sam begged.
Alyssa scoffed at Sam's pathetic attempt to win over Anna. Anna, on the other hand, scoffed.
She turned to look at Marissa who nodded, giving her a silent support.
"I'm sorry Sam, but let's end it here, I cannot be with someone who cheated on me, perhaps, the Moon Goddess decided to use you to teach me a lesson," Anna smiled, but the smile didn't reach her eyes.
Sam felt a sense of foreboding while listening to her words. And her next words confirmed that he needed to be scared.
"I, Anna Watson reject you."
"Don't do it Anna, it will hurt us both," Sam's face changed drastically while he tried to stop her.
"My wolf will understand, we are not meant to be, the Moon Goddess made a big mistake," Anna stared, droplets of tears fell from her eyes.
It hurt her immensely. She had thought she would spend her entire life with Sam, but life showed her that not everything one wished for would come to pass.
"I, Anna Watson, reject you, Sam Dale as my mate, from this moment, we have nothing to do with each other."
Alyssa had a smug smirk on her face while watching the entire situation unfold.
As soon as Anna was done with her statement, both parties felt a searing pain in their chests.
Anna fell to the floor, clutching her chest in pain. Her eyebrows were drawn together while she breathed heavily.
The pain spread, and she let out a gut-wrenching scream with her entire face filled with sweat.
'The physical pain is nothing compared to the mental torture I went through the past week, you can do this Anna,' she thought to herself, closing her eyes deeply due to the intense pain.
Marissa could not stand seeing her in pain, and therefore was about to help her, but Leah held her back while shaking her head. This was the consequence of breaking the mate bond. They both had to bear it.
Sam wasn't having it easy as well. His face was extremely red, and he found it difficult to breathe. His hands were wrapped around his throat, and it felt like he wanted to speak, but he couldn't due to the pain he felt.
This ordeal only lasted a few minutes, before the two returned to normal, but this time, they were without the mate bond which bound them together.
Sam glared breathlessly at Anna who didn't bother to pay attention to him.
"Let's go," he ordered, he was referring to Alyssa.
Alyssa scoffed, before walking out. She was annoyed by the act which he played today. Sam sighed, bowed to Marissa, before running after her.
Meanwhile, Anna bowed to Marissa genuinely.
"Thank you Luna, you helped me regain justice, and also encouraged me to sever the bond with him, I will face the same thing if I accepted him again," Anna breathed out through her mouth while having a lost expression on her face.
Marissa chuckled softly, holding her hands.
"I'm glad you took a stand, always remember that you can never be with a man who doesn't respect you, if you sense that he wouldn't respect you, you always have the right to step away," Marissa said, and Anna nodded, agreeing to her words.
"I pray you find a second chance mate," Marissa wished genuinely.
Anna chuckled, "I don't think that would happen, I have never seen rejected mates get second chance mates, I guess I'm stuck alone, and it isn't that bad."
Marissa patted her palms, "I believe you will find a second chance mate, and yes, I've seen it happen before, you don't need to be worried about that."
Marissa's words sparked a renewed hope in Anna's heart. She truly wished that she would be able to get a second chance mate, just as Marissa had said.
"Alright, you can always come to me if you ever face any issue, I promise to always have your back," Marissa promised sincerely.
Anna nodded, accepting Marissa's goodwill. And just like that, she got a new friend.
"Thank you Luna," Anna thanked her sincerely, and walked away.
_____________
"You did well Luna," Leah praised Marissa once they returned to the office.
Marissa had a grin on her face while accepting the compliment.
"You think so?" Marissa asked.
"Of course, what you did for her today was noteworthy, and you gained a new friend, not bad," Leah replied while pulling another document out.
"I only did what I thought was right, I just have the feeling that Sam and Alyssa could cause trouble for her again, so it is best that she knows she has someone to run to when faced with such issues," Marissa explained, while sighing.
"It is good, building up your relationship with the masses is a great way for them to accept you," Leah beamed.
"What's that with you?" Marissa questioned cheekily.
"Your other case to take care of," Leah smiled, and Marissa groaned in response.
"Haven't I done enough?" Marissa pouted while rubbing her arms tiredly.
"You have to be done with all that before the end of the week," Leah pointed to the stack of untouched documents.
Marissa let out a gasp in shock, and she sighed before collecting the document which Leah had stretched to her.
The day turned into night with the moon taking its place while the sun returned to its resting place.
Currently, Marissa and Bryce were in the room while Marissa informed him about how her day went.
Bryce suddenly turned to look out the window, and a strange smile appeared on his lips.
"I'll be right back," Bryce stated as he got up to leave the bed, which worried Marissa.
"Where are you headed to?" Marissa asked curiously.
"I'm going to catch a snake," Bryce gave her a kiss on her forehead, and left the room, without giving Marissa a chance to speak.
"What is he talking about?" Marissa muttered to herself, feeling a sense of foreboding.
