Chapter 6 - 6. School Life

The morning sun, a gentle ball of light over the shimmering waters surrounding Mosdeep City, cast long shadows across Leo's room. He stirred in his bed, the soft chirping of a nearby Wingull filtering through the open window he saw ralts still sleeping beside him.

leo was still reeling about the discoveries he did and all the pokemon knowledge that was very different from the anime ,he had learn many things and all the precautions he has to take.

Leo woke up and finished his morning routine with the jogging and then he came back to the house to take a bath and have breakfast. Their home, nestled on one of the quieter edges of the city, was a haven for various Pokémon in different stages of growth. The air often hummed with the soft cooing of newly hatched Pokémon, the playful yips of younger ones, and the contented sighs of those under Lily's care.

Leo's days were now filled with the fascinating mysteries of Pokémon breeding. Lily, with the patience of a Chansey tending to its egg, began her education. This morning, after a breakfast of fluffy pancakes made with Moomoo Milk and locally sourced berries, their lesson focused on Egg Groups.

"See this Skitty, Leo?" Lily said, gesturing to the playful feline Pokémon batting at a sunbeam on the floor. "And this Wailmer in the tank?" She pointed to the large, gentle Pokémon swimming lazily in a custom-built aquarium that dominated one corner of their living room. "They seem completely different, don't they?"

Leo nodded, observing the tiny Skitty and the enormous Wailmer. "They don't look like they could… you know…"

Lily chuckled. "Exactly! But through the magic of Pokémon breeding, they actually share an Egg Group – the Field Group. This means a male Skitty can breed with a female Wailmer, or vice versa, and their offspring will be of the mother's species."

Leo's brow furrowed in concentration. It was a concept far more complex than anything he'd encountered in the anime. There, breeding often seemed like a simple matter of placing two compatible Pokémon together. Here, it was a science, an art, requiring a deep understanding of Pokémon physiology and genetics.

Over the next few hours, Lily patiently explained the various Egg Groups – from the Water Group encompassing Pokémon like Squirtle and Magikarp, to the Dragon Group containing powerful creatures like Bagon and Dratini. She showed him charts and diagrams, meticulously detailing which Pokémon belonged to which group and the fascinating, sometimes surprising, connections between them.

She also taught him about Abilities, both Hidden and Standard, and how they could be passed down through breeding. "A Pokémon might inherit a Hidden Ability from either parent," Lily explained, showing him the difference between a Torchic with Blaze and one with Speed Boost. "Understanding these probabilities is crucial for trainers looking to breed Pokémon with specific competitive advantages."

The afternoon brought lessons on Natures and how they influenced a Pokémon's growth in different stats. Lily showed him various Everstones and their role in ensuring a Pokémon's offspring inherited its Nature. She emphasized the importance of understanding a Pokémon's individual personality and how its Nature could be nurtured through proper care and training.

Leo found himself engrossed in these lessons while he was learning he saw ralts was playing with a skitty. It was a world of intricate details and fascinating possibilities. He bombarded Lily with questions, his initial confusion giving way to genuine curiosity. He realized that being a successful trainer wasn't just about battling; it was also about understanding the very essence of Pokémon and their life cycles.

As dusk began to paint the sky in hues of purple and orange, the aroma of Lily's cooking filled the house. She was preparing a hearty stew, the scent of simmered root vegetables and locally caught fish mingling with the familiar fragrance of Pokémon food. Leo helped her set the table, his mind still buzzing with the day's lessons.

Just as they were about to sit down, the front door clicked open, and a familiar, slightly weary voice called out, "Lily? Leo? I'm home."

August, Leo's father, stood in the doorway, his tall frame silhouetted against the fading light. He carried a worn leather briefcase and had the distant, thoughtful look that often accompanied him after a long day at the Mossdeep Space Center. His work was a world away from Lily's nurturing environment, focused on the vast expanse beyond their planet, researching the mysteries of space and the potential for interstellar travel.

"August! You're back," Lily exclaimed, a warm smile spreading across her face. She rushed to greet him, offering a comforting hug.

"Hey, Dad!" Leo chimed in, a wave of affection washing over him.

After a quick wash, August joined them at the table, his gaze immediately softening as he looked at his son. "How was your day, Leo?"

"It was great, Dad! Mom taught me all about Egg Groups and Abilities and Natures. Did you know a Skitty and a Wailmer can have babies?" Leo recounted excitedly.

August chuckled, ruffling Leo's hair. "That's the fascinating world your mother lives in. Always full of surprises. My day was a little less… biological. Mostly staring at data from distant galaxies."

As they ate, the conversation flowed easily between them. Lily shared anecdotes about the Pokémon she was currently tending to, a particularly stubborn Pichu and a newly hatched Budew. August spoke of his team's progress on their latest project, something involving the detection of unusual energy signatures from beyond the Hoenn region. Leo listened intently, fascinated by both his parents' worlds.

Once dinner was finished and the dishes were cleared, August settled into his favorite armchair, a thoughtful expression on his face. "So, Leo," he began, his tone shifting slightly, "your mother and I have been discussing your schooling."

Leo's ears perked up. This was a topic that had been brewing for a while before his transmigration. He knew he couldn't stay at home learning about Pokémon breeding forever, even though he found it incredibly interesting.

"We know you're keen on becoming a trainer," August continued, his eyes meeting Leo's. "And we fully support that. But we want to make sure you have a solid foundation first."

Lily nodded in agreement. "There are several options here in Hoenn. There's the Trainer's School in Rustboro City, which has a very good reputation. It provides a comprehensive curriculum covering everything from battling basics to Pokémon care and etiquette."

"Or," August interjected, "we could consider a more personalized approach. Perhaps a tutor who specializes in preparing young trainers for their journey. There are even some correspondence courses available online, though I think a more hands-on approach would be better for you."

Leo listened carefully, weighing the options. The idea of going to a dedicated Trainer's School sounded exciting, the prospect of meeting other aspiring trainers and learning from experienced instructors appealing. However, the thought of a personal tutor, someone who could tailor their lessons to his specific interests and learning style, also held a certain charm.

"What do you think, Leo?" Lily asked gently, sensing his contemplation.

Leo took a deep breath. "I… I think I'd really like to go to the Trainer's School in Rustboro City. It sounds like a good way to learn everything I need to know.

August and Lily exchanged a look, a silent conversation passing between them. Then, August smiled. "Rustboro it is then. We can start looking into the application process and the logistics of getting you there. It's a bit of a journey, but it'll be a great experience for you."
