Upon completing the transaction, Wu Shaochen hastily returned to the novice village and found the village chief. He handed over the magic core and said, "Chief, here is the magic core of the Silver Wolf King you requested."
The village chief, upon seeing the magic core, exclaimed excitedly, "Wonderful! With this, we can repair the teleportation array to the main city. This novice village has been sealed for far too long. Adventurer, thank you for your contribution to the village. This is your reward."
"System notification: Quest completed. Would you like to equip the title [Hero of the Novice Village]?"
"Equip," Wu Shaochen said, then checked the title's attributes:
[Hero of the Novice Village]: Granted for repairing the teleportation array. Only one player in each novice village can receive this title. Attributes: Luck +10.
Well, is that all? Luck is intangible and difficult to measure; it would have been better to get something more practical, Wu Shaochen mused, though it was still better than nothing. Besides, the Luck attribute was rare. The only other item with Luck he had was the necklace he wore, which added 3 points. As for what effect it would have, that could only be discovered over time.
At that moment, the village chief was fiddling with a circular pattern at the village entrance. After a few minutes, the pattern suddenly glowed with white light, and a smile appeared on the chief's face.
Just then, a system-wide announcement echoed among all 8,365 novice players...
"System Announcement: Player Chen Feng has assisted the novice village chief in repairing the teleportation array. All players in this novice village can now teleport to the main city once they reach level 10."
"Wait, does this mean we need to repair the teleportation array to go to the main city?"
"It seems so. Didn't the system just hint at it? Though, we don't know how troublesome it might be."
"Who cares about the hassle? We've got a powerful player helping us repair it. Once we hit level 10, we can teleport directly to the main city and change our class. Truly, it's nice to have someone like that around."
"Well said!"
As all the players in the 8365 novice village marveled at their fortune, they didn't dwell too much on the specifics, assuming it wouldn't be too difficult. Su Muxue suddenly remembered asking Chen Feng why he didn't head to the main city once he reached level 10. He had mentioned being unable to do so. Now it made sense—it was because the teleportation array needed repair.
Curious, she sent a message: "What exactly is the quest to repair the teleportation array?"
After a while, the reply came: "Kill the Silver Wolf King!"
...
Su Muxue took a moment to process the response, thinking, "So, you wanted to leave the village, but the teleportation array was broken. You needed to kill the Silver Wolf King to fix it, so you went and killed him?"
She wasn't sure how to express her feelings. However, she realized that other novice villages would face the same challenge. Without someone like Chen Feng, the Silver Wolf King would have delayed their progress for quite a while. This was a great boon that Chen Feng had earned for the entire 8365 server.
Her eyes brightened at the thought. Now, with two pieces of Black Iron-grade equipment, she probably had the best gear in the entire novice village, second only to Chen Feng's. This enormous advantage would bring her immense benefits.
"Uncle Liu, tell everyone to stop whatever they're doing and focus on leveling up as quickly as possible. We need to be among the first to reach level 10 and enter the main city," Su Muxue instructed.
"Understood, miss. I'll notify them right away," Uncle Liu replied without hesitation.
"Indeed, adding a friend is incredibly beneficial," Su Muxue silently praised her own foresight. Though she had even used her charm to add him as a friend, the rewards had been tremendous. She no longer worried about the small price she paid, especially since it had only cost her appearance, not much else. However, his attitude... it was unmistakably that of a classic 'alpha male.'
After the village chief repaired the teleportation array, he returned to Wu Shaochen and said, "Adventurer, the teleportation array is repaired. Would you like to teleport to the main city?"
"Yes," Wu Shaochen replied.
"Please stand inside the circle and choose the main city you wish to teleport to. As the hero of this novice village, your teleportation is free," the village chief said.
There are eight Level 2 main cities and four Level 1 main cities in the game. Players can teleport from a novice village to one of the Level 2 main cities. To teleport to a Level 1 main city, they must reach level 100 and then teleport from a Level 2 city.
As Wu Shaochen stepped into the circle, a system prompt appeared:
"Please select the city you wish to teleport to," followed by the list of eight Level 2 main cities: Qiushui City, Baize City, Julu City, Fengyong City, Huangsha City, Mobei City, Jibing City, Jinling City.
Wu Shaochen casually chose Jinling City. It didn't matter which city, as they all had their own unique environments. For instance, Baize City and Qiushui City were coastal, while Huangsha City and Mobei City were desert-bound, and Jibing City was situated near glaciers. However, with teleportation arrays between cities, the choice was largely irrelevant.
A flash of light passed before his eyes, and the scenery blurred momentarily. Soon, the surroundings became clear again, and Wu Shaochen found himself in a vast city. The architecture was ancient and elegant, with wide, interconnected roads and towering city walls, giving the impression that he had traveled back in time.
"This is truly magnificent! The dilapidated novice village doesn't even compare," Wu Shaochen marveled. He noticed a few NPCs walking down the street and the occasional patrol by city guards, but there were no players in sight.
"Time to change my class," Wu Shaochen remembered the purpose of his hasty trip to the main city. He headed towards the center of the city, intending to ask an NPC for directions. However, when he looked up, he immediately spotted a massive building in the city center labeled 'Class Change Hall.' It was clear that this was where he could change his class.
Inside the hall stood six class instructors:
A beautiful mage instructor in a black robe, a muscular shield warrior instructor with a shield, a warrior instructor holding a giant sword, a beautiful archer instructor with a bow and quiver, a masked assassin instructor in tight leather armor, and a white-robed priestess instructor with a graceful figure.
After observing the six instructors, Wu Shaochen finally approached the assassin instructor. Unfortunately, his talent for ranged attacks couldn't be triggered. If it had, he would have gladly chosen to become an archer—simply standing at a distance and shooting arrows. Since that wasn't possible, his only choices for melee classes were warrior, shield warrior, or assassin. As a fan of agility-based playstyles, Wu Shaochen naturally opted for the assassin.
"Hello, Instructor. I would like to change to the assassin class," Wu Shaochen said politely.
"Adventurer, you have excellent taste. The assassin is the fastest and most explosive class, the king of the shadows, feared by all..." the assassin instructor began.
"Don't listen to his nonsense," the warrior instructor interjected. "Assassins only pick on fragile mages and archers. If you face me, I'll cut you down with two strikes. You should become a warrior instead."
"Adventurer, don't listen to him either. An assassin with that frail body wouldn't last against a single beast. Become a shield warrior. Stand your ground, and even beasts won't dare to attack you," the shield warrior instructor added.
As the other instructors tried to persuade him, Wu Shaochen quickly responded, "Thank you for your kind suggestions, but I've already decided to become an assassin."
Hearing this, the other instructors could only sigh. It was rare for an adventurer to show up, and they had gotten a little carried away. Normally, they wouldn't interfere with a player's choice.
