Chapter 7 - Top Star

After that, more actresses appeared on the red carpet. Some were beautiful, but none made the impact Cathy did. none stunned the audience the way she had. The viewers quickly lost interest.

As the final moments of the arrivals approached, a stretch Lincoln slowly rolled up.

The first thing to appear was a stiletto heel, followed by a long, slender, porcelain-white leg.

The cameraman, experienced with live broadcasts, instinctively caught the moment. The lens panned upward inch by inch, capturing Bonnie Wesley's silhouette with cinematic precision.

And when her flawless face came into view, the livestream's comment section went silent for a few seconds.

Then it exploded into a frenzy:

[!!!!!!!!]

[The woman who defines fan circle beauty standards has arrived...]

[Bonnie?? I'm losing my mind!!!]

[I just saw people on X calling her ugly and accusing her of photoshopping. Who's laughing now?!]

[Photoshopped? This is the first time I've seen someone who looks better in motion than in edited pics. She's a thousand times more stunning live! Is this even human? She's a goddess!]

[Her bone structure is insane. Did anyone else notice how she's literally glowing?]

[Tiny waist, long legs, perfect shoulders. Bonnie is on another level. Say what you will, but if she's not acting, it's a tragedy for us face-lovers.]

Bonnie had no idea what was happening online. Seeing the camera on her, she gave a soft smile and a quick wave.

The comments erupted again.

Unlike the other celebrities before her, Bonnie didn't head straight into the venue. Instead, she walked toward a private entrance with a few senior figures.

The comment section quieted down for a beat, then someone dropped the ultimate line:

[...I almost forgot. Bonnie isn't just a star anymore. She's one of the investors! She was standing with the real power players just now... that aura?? I'm stunned.]

The comment was quickly screenshotted and posted to X, delivering a heavy blow to the trolls who had mocked her earlier.

[HAHAHAHA the jealous haters just got burned!!LoL!]

[The girl who accused her of photoshopping, where you at? Show yourself!]

[Bonnie: Sorry everyone, I'm just too pretty. I'll try to ugly myself down next time. LOL!]

[Add me to the list of people who got crushed by her boss energy and beauty. That aura? I can't take it.]

[Gorgeous boss lady. CEO vibes. Damn, she's pure fire!]

...

Turns out, she's not just a beauty. She's also a wealthy CEO.

Say what you want, you just can't argue with that.

...

Inside the banquet hall, where media wasn't allowed, Cathy had just entered when she was blocked by Ada and a few others.

Outwardly, they maintained the fake smiles of colleagues from the same company, but their words dripped with sarcasm. "Where did you get that outfit?"

Cathy brushed Ada's hand aside. "What's it to you?"

Ada bit her lip. Cathy was undeniably stunning tonight, completely stealing the spotlight. She had ruined Cathy's dress and even warned off several brand partners the company worked with who would've dared lend her anything?

Looking at Cathy's radiant beauty, Ada's eyes burned with envy.

She sneered, "You're flaunting yourself over some no-name label? How tacky can you get?"

Cathy gave her a once-over and scoffed. "Even in a no-name dress, I look better than you. Feeling salty yet?"

Ada was so furious her scalp tingled. "Say that again, I dare you!"

Cathy couldn't be bothered to listen to that fool ramble. Just then, a well-known director was heading their way, and she planned to make a quick impression. But before she could step forward, Ada swiftly yanked her back and stepped ahead herself, putting on a coy voice, "Director Williams, hello!"

What a shameless tramp!

Cathy felt a surge of irritation but didn't want to stoop to arguing with Ada and make a scene.

Unexpectedly, Director Williams completely ignored Ada's fawning greeting. Instead, he looked around as if searching for someone. His eyes lit up the moment he spotted Cathy.

"Miss Jones!"

Cathy glanced around, confirming she was the only "Miss Jones" nearby, and hesitantly asked, "Director Williams, are you calling me?"

Director Williams beamed as he walked over. "Miss. Wesley asked me to bring you over. She wants to introduce you to a few people. Come with me."

Cathy: "!!!!!"

She sent a director to pick her up in person? Bonnie, you're truly off the charts!

Still, Cathy had to admit, it felt damn good. She straightened her posture and followed Director Williams with a delighted expression, leaving Ada and the others fuming with jealousy.

The area where the VIPs gathered was clearly more upscale and quieter. As soon as Cathy stepped in, she saw Bonnie, exuding serious CEO energy, chatting with several high-profile business figures.

When Bonnie spotted her, she waved her over.

"Come here, Cathy. Let me introduce you. This is the head of FY Media."

Cathy maintained a calm expression, but inside she was in full panic mode. She nervously shook hands with the investment bosses, her mind reeling with every name Bonnie rattled off.

Let's just say… Cathy had never seen investors smile this kindly before.

As soon as she found a moment, she yanked Bonnie aside, her back already damp with sweat. "Are you insane? What on earth are you trying to do?"

Bonnie took a casual sip of wine and replied breezily, "I'm going to make you the top star."

Cathy: "...!!!"

After swinging back and forth between shock and joy at least seven or eight times, Cathy finally regained her composure. She even had the nerve to say, "Then go all in, please."

Don't go easy on me just because I'm a delicate flower.

Halfway through the banquet, a female celebrity in a bodycon dress approached them, her demeanor hesitant and reserved. "Miss Wesley… good evening."

Bonnie looked puzzled and turned to Cathy, who immediately leaned in to whisper, "That's Mandy. She was the first one to post on X mocking you after the scandal. Now she's turned into your biggest online bootlicker."

Bonnie instantly understood.

She'd heard the name Mandy before but had never met her in person.

"Is there something you need?"

Mandy's eyes shimmered with tears as she took a timid step closer. "Miss Wesley, I'm truly sorry for what I said on X before. I know I was wrong. Please don't hold it against me."

"And what exactly do you mean by 'hold it against you'?"

Mandy looked pitiful. "I have a project lined up with Eastvision Films, and I really don't want to lose the opportunity over something I blurted out. I know you're not the petty type… Please, let the past go."

Bonnie raised an eyebrow. "So you're saying that if I do mind, then I am being petty?"

"N-no, that's not what I meant!" Mandy looked up, bit her lip, and slapped herself hard across the face. "I just don't know how to speak properly. Please don't be angry, Miss Wesley."

Her sudden act startled both Bonnie and Cathy, who exchanged uncomfortable glances.

Bonnie frowned. "Business matters are handled by the appropriate people. You don't need to come to me directly."
