The World Champion Tournament.
An annual event comprised of countless players across every server. All of which will participate in a seven day elimination event. And day one will start soon with one quest which is as simple it gets.
[Reach the official battle ground]
Every guild will receive one location. A world... that's it. Not even a continent, a kingdom or a city, none. And with how vast Yggdrasil is, it is a search that will not only be challenging but once the location is invoked, the race there would mean war.
Their only guide is a landmark, the official Yggdrasil Banner. A golden tree on black. The battle starts at this onset cause it would be up to the players to come find the exact location where it will be held and face any and all obstacles to reach it, namely, other players.
"One hour.... I'm already nervous and we're still an hour away." complained Peroroncino.
"Relax, I won't have to kill you till day four. You should be fine by then." teased Nishiki Enrai.
"Shut up man... You got lucky on that duel." grumbles Peroroncino.
"Whatever helps you sleep at night birdbrain."
All across the packed mausoleum of Nazarick, echoed the banter and discussion of various Guild Members of Ainz Ooal Gown. Momonga himself stood a bit off at the side as he chatted with Eliza in silence.
"You're sure of this?"
"I am... the banner appeared just seconds ago and several guilds had already seen it. I noticed that the Devs were also very attentive of everything happening so I had to show myself and join the fray for a moment."
"Are you alright?"
Suzuki blushed as Eliza giggles before she responds, "I am. I took a kill, no big deal."
"Still this is kinda unfair.." Momonga smiled as she giggled again making feel warmth that softly fills his chest.
"Luck never is." she answers.
"...thank you. Just return for now."
Ending his conversation with Eliza, he walked to his Guildmates. "We've found the location. Dreadhaven."
"Yes!!!" shouts Peroroncino and Akemi.
"This is good news." Tabula remarks.
"This is Great News! Its in too deep at Heteromorph territories!"
"Uhh guys.... the waypoint isn't there..." said Hero-Hero.
"You sure?"
"Yup! You guys check it yourselves."
"Then this confirms things. Nearest waypoints are closed just like the previous World Champion Tournament." confirms Punitto Moe.
"We need a plan." Tabula remarks.
"What? Why!? This is our territory! We should be heading there right now!" yelled a woman in beautiful golden armored dress with a golden halo floating behind her.
"Easy Akemi-san." says Punitto Moe. "They may be allies once. But not during the Tournament."
"She's right. Chances of us getting stabbed in the back or lead to an ambush is too high. Trusting any guild now would be far too risky that it is foolish. We can't take the chances." adds Tabula.
"We won't." interrupts Momonga. "Eliza has just informed me of an ongoing guild ambush. A coalition of seven Heteromorphic Guilds to destroy The Nation."
"...damn.. this is worst than we thought."
"This is a given." Punitto Moe clarifies. "Its a scheduled event only held once in a year. It was only natural that alliances and targets had already been determined prior to the announcement."
"Nulgath." says Yamaiko with a shiver. "That freak still scares me. Seriously, that's a broken ass Character."
"Wait a second... isn't that the guild... Uhhh.. I forgot his name, an Overlord like Momonga-san joined?"
"Oh yeah! Nulgath invited him after they restarted their characters."
"I still don't understand why they refused our invitation."
"They don't fit with the guild rules. If our Guildmaster, will not violate it, then no one will." said Ulbert firmly, bringing a round of nods among the group.
"Nulgath is a proud man." says Touch Me. "And he isn't really all that invested in this game. I bet they only got targeted because of the rumors."
"Rumors?" asked Punitto Moe.
"Rumor has it, is that they have with them a World Item."
"they do." whispers Eliza. "Five Elements Overcoming." says Momonga, making everyone turn to him. "Such an Item, there is just no way Nulgath is stupid enough to bring out something like that anytime soon."
"Yeah... bastard's a collector... just like our Guildmaster."
A small round of laughter was shared and ended when a prompt appeared. One which silenced the guild.
[Seraphina has logged in]
From the skies of Nazarick a player could be seen falling at great speed towards the ground. And mere meters before crashing, she spread her wings wide, halting her fall with a great burst of wind and landed softly with her feet first to touch the pavement.
The players watched as she approached and is met with some of those whom she had made friends with. While Momonga and his friends remained where they are and simply watched as she slowly approached them.
She wore a more intricate version of her armor. With but a few additions of more red crystals and rubies adorning her person. Her wings are as red as blood and sharp as any blade, barely taking the form of feathers, and vanishing like embers of flickering flames. At her waist is strapped a pair of swords of great value.
The first is an ornate sword of gold and silver with a crystalized handle. The Divine Grade Weapon, Excalibur. A weapon of envy that barely five percent of the player base was lucky enough to obtain during a limited event dungeon.
And the second is a sword with an obsidian colored crossguard with a red gem at the center with a sinister silver blade decorated with blood red stones. Divine Grade Weapon, Doomfire Empress Blade. A Gacha weapon matching the very attire she wore.
But neither sword held everyone's attention. Aside from her body that many tried not to ogle at, it was her beauty that truly captured everyone's attention. Each person saying things merely to get a reaction out of it. A squint of her eyes, a smile on her lips and to a wave of her long hair when she shook her head. All of it framed by a pair of decorated horns that curved around her head like a crown.
Seraphina of Ainz Ooal Gown, is the rarest form of beauty anyone could ask for. Rich, smart, clever and even skilled... and extremely lacking social skills.
The unofficial member of their guild whom everyone also knows possessed their Guildmaster's blessing. Said Guildmaster who now frowns as he watched someone suddenly grab her hand with theirs, making her smile forcefully as though she didn't want to be there.
"Easy Momonga-kun." appeases Buku-Bukuchagama with a hint of playfulness. "You wouldn't want Eliza-chan to think you clingy now do you."
"Why not." challenges Peroroncino. "I say you go there, knock his teeth out and sweep her off her feet."
"Now- now, boys, give the lady some trust will you. She can handle it." Yamaiko remarks.
"Its not her that concerns me." adds Ulbert. "What kind of sleeze bag do you have to be, to go after someone who was claimed by another already."
"Claimed?..." asks Akemi with a raised brow.
"Oh hush." interjects Takemikazuchi. "Do not speak as if its such a bad thing."
While everyone exchanged words regarding the topic, Touch Me simply stood by his friend. He could see it, plain as day. How his fist clenched, his shoulders tense, and despite the faceplate, even he could feel the heat in his eyes. His displeasure was evident, but trust warred with belief. The trust that none of his guild would do something unquestionable, but the belief of something dark within, a whisper of man's most... unappealing persona. Seeing his friend, torn with indecision, Touch Me decided to give the budding confidence a push and whispered a few words to his friend.
"You know her more than we do. Do what you believe is best, Momonga-san."
His hesitation vanished like smoke in the wind, and with a nod, Momonga walked forward. He squared his shoulders, chest out and slightly slouched accompanied by a confident stride.
"I hope he punches him." adds Ulbert bringing soft laughter mixed with curiosity and a rare nod from Touch Me.
Anticipation sparked when Momonga walked towards Eliza. All in the guild was aware of the closeness between the two. Their leader and his spy master as they were quietly dubbed, just as they were aware of the many unspoken advances directed at the beauty that their leader had obviously tried to keep for himself. But there is someone that made them all frown, and all due to the continuous inappropriate advances made by one member of Ainz Ooal Gown.
Gabriel was a fallen who joined the guild under the recommendation of Luci★Fer. And while Luci★Fer was notorious for his pranks, Gabriel was notorious for his sexual coments and his 'holier than thou' personality bordering on easy go lucky. His attitude has had the female members of the guild reeling from the sheer volume and audacity coming from his mouth. And the men weren't spared either.
Uncomfortable and irksome is how most would describe him. Specially when his words were known to lack the spark to be set aside as a joke.
Momonga stopped in front of the two. With Eliza shooting apologetic looks at Momonga. Some words were exchanged between the three and for a time, many thought that things just might de-escalate. Only, to realize that it wouldn't be happening at all when Gabriel grabbed and pulled Eliza towards him. Earning him a back hand that came out of nowhere.
""""""Oooooohhhhhh!""""""
"... that's gotta hurt..." Peroroncino winces out.
"The jerk has an advance VR helm, I know he did."
"There is a downside to being rich it seems."
"Not as much as we hope."
"Enough guys..."
"Oh look... the idiot is getting back up."
Gabriel could be heard shouting and cussing as he stomped his way back to Momonga. But while the man looked to be throwing a tantrum, Momonga simply stood there. Towering over the fallen by a full head and looking down at him like a petulant child.
Out of nowhere, Gabriel stopped his rant and started seething. And with no warning, a notification appeared.
[PVP: Momonga Vs Gabriel]
A transparent square barrier that looked like police tapes appeared around the two, signifying a limited space restriction. In a flash the two reappeared ten paces away with everyone caught within the arena were placed at the edges of the barrier.
"This should be quick." Touch Me remarks. Earning a smug emote from Ulbert.
A countdown then initiates and at the side, Luci★Fer could be heard sighing out. "...idiot..."
Gabriel wore an intricate Knightly armor that looked like it was molten in places, spiked with multitude of golden spear heads with embers of fire floating from the edges of his tattered cloak.
His weapon is a silver cross-spear glowing with divine light. And he held it with the tip towards Momonga who shifted sideways while pulling his weapon out of his inventory. A sword-staff blend but with a cross spear design at the stave's end.

[Sonic Edge] Gabriel rushed in an instant charging like a bow released from an arrow. Momonga dodged with a snapped sidestep while casting something a short distance away. After stopping at a specific distance, Gabriel turned as if guided by the weapon and thrusted a second time. Momonga repeated his actions, dodging and buffing [Body of Effulgent Aquamarine]. And for the third time, Gabriel returned.
This went on for five more turns with the skill function of Sonic Edge remaining uninterrupted. And with the eight and final thrust, Gabriel glowed golden with several streaks of sharp wind spiraling around him. And like a drill, he surged forth.
Against the raging drill of wind and steel, Momonga squared his shoulders and held out his hand, halting the attack. In a massive displacement of wind, the spear tip failed to even touch his palm forcing the attack to a slow grind as if broken gears of a drill that failed to mesh together, disrupted and damaged. And with a grunt, Momonga raised his other hand smashed it down at the spear like a hammer, forcing the attack to a stop and Gabriel's spear planting right between Momonga's feet.
With a flex of his legs and arms poised in a low stance, Momonga delivered a devastating uppercut that sent the Fallen's head reeling upwards and he then started battering Gabriel with punch after punch after punch. From hooks, uppercuts, back hands to elbows, he attack relentlessly not giving his opponent the chance to collect himself.
"Resistance fluctuates for players. In Yggdrasil." said Akemi as she watched her Guildmaster's onslaught. "...you can somewhat resist de-buffs that are a tier higher than yourself. But in order to do that, you need to perceive the de-buff coming your way. Even better if you could predict which spell.... But what if you were being beaten aggressively... panicking or in pain..." Akemi explains with a somewhat somber tone in her voice. "Advance Nerve Gears are incredible, they make the game feel real.... but what if it makes the game too real?"
With a straight punch to the gut with Momonga's lead fist, Gabriel bent forward as Momonga cast a de-buff [Elemental Weakening] only for the Fallen to hurl his head back from an explosive rear uppercut with [Elemental Resonance].
Momonga then delivers a devastating hook while buffing himself, [Magic Boost]. And knees Gabriel Before he could even fall from the hook. [Penetrate Up]. Before he could recover, Momonga's sword drives straight through his chest. [Bestow Curse] Spewing black and gold liquid like a fountain from his injury.
Gabriel was suspended mid air when Momonga, with a burst of great speed, grabbed his ankle with [Firebrand's Touch]. Momonga then threw Gabriel towards the location his first spear halted, triggering [Triple Maximize Magic- Explode Mine] *Boom! *Boom! *Boom! the explosion echoed, throwing the fallen angel in another direction, only for the land to glow in golden light once more and go... *boom!.
Rang through another explosion only to repeat itself six more times and all they could do was watch as Gabriel was ragdolled to one explosion after another.
And with the last explosion of another Triple Maximize Magic ringing through, a spark of dark aura swirled around Momonga activating his Aura of Decay, and with an explosion of grey, activated his Aura of Despair. Both of which were now amplified with his Necrotic Embrace that made his visor gleem menacingly with flickers of blue flames visibly spiling at the edges, triggered by Gabriel when his health bar reached below 20%.
And looking at the Fallen's health bar, they couldn't help but winced as his health showed less than six percent. Showing the devastation of a Tripled and Maximized magic suported by buffs and debuffs.
"My god... its been barely a minute."
"Umu. His movements are impressive."
"Nothing compared to his mind." adds Tabula. "I had never thought to do that ... honestly, I had never seen any player do that." his voice as if shivering from excitement or fear.
"Neither have I." confirms Takemikazuchi.
[Winner: Momonga]
With the barrier lifting, Momonga walked towards Eliza, and sweeps her off her feet to a princess carry, making the woman yelp in surprise.
Ignoring the laughter and catcalls of his Guildmates, Momonga slouched slightly, bending his knees and with a flex of his legs and feet, he launched himself into the air like a missile. Cracking the ground into fractured pieces, and displacing dust into the air.
His fly an attempt to calm his anger, and mostly to hide the blush he now sported, unable to believe the courage he displayed for what he had done. With his occupied mind, he left not wanting to subject himself f to the round of well wishes from amused Guildmates and friends.
