Scarlet Dragon King – Chapter 14: Grayfia, the Silver Rebellion
The fire mirror shimmered.
Rias lay resting now, her trial complete. But Eric's attention had already turned—drawn to the next sigil that pulsed like silver starlight.
Grayfia's.
Inside the gate, her reflection solidified, and the scene unfolded like ice.
—
The Trial Plane: Lucifuge Manor
The air was frigid.
Grayfia opened her eyes to find herself in the ancestral halls of House Lucifuge—cold, flawless, and devoid of warmth. Her armor was gone. Her magic was sealed. She wore the uniform of a maid once more.
Chains of obligation wrapped her wrists—not metal, but ethereal and glowing, branded with the crest of the Underworld.
From behind, she heard his voice.
"Grayfia," said a familiar, cruel tone.
Sirzechs.
Not the kind brother of her past—but a twisted echo, the version this plane had crafted. Eyes full of expectation and control. "Your service has not ended. You belong to the House. You were never allowed to want."
Grayfia stood still, expression unreadable.
"You threw away your purpose. For him."
A mirror formed beside him. In it—Eric, laughing with the harem, holding Rias, smiling with Yasaka.
Sirzechs' voice sharpened. "You were a tool. Not a lover. He will never see you as anything else."
She clenched her fists.
But she said nothing.
"You'll return to the way you were," Sirzechs said, stepping closer. "Obedient. Silent. Perfect. I order it."
She looked up slowly.
And laughed.
A sound not cruel—but liberating.
"I am not yours," she said, voice like ice cracking.
"You were never my master. My brother died when he chose duty over truth."
The chains tightened—but her eyes gleamed.
> Eric… saw me.
Not as a maid. Not as a symbol. But as a woman who stands at his side.
Her sigil erupted into silver fire.
Grayfia stepped forward.
The chains shattered.
The manor collapsed.
And in the void, she saw Eric—hand extended, smiling softly.
This time, she didn't kneel.
She took his hand, equal to equal.
—
Outside the Trial
Eric caught her as she returned, arms strong, heart pounding.
She looked up at him, her voice steady: "I remember who I am now. And why I'm yours."
Eric smiled. "You were never mine by duty. You're mine by choice."
Two flames burned side by side now.
And still, nine more trials remained.
