Ryuji, Tanjiro, and Zenitsu Agatsuma were searching for traces of {demons} on the mountain under the afternoon sun.
However, the key to the search rested on Tanjiro, whose sensitive nose could detect scents that Ryuji and Zenitsu couldn't. Therefore, only Tanjiro could find clues.
Ryuji and Zenitsu were essentially accompanying Tanjiro.
"Ryuji, are you sure we can find {demons} this way?" Zenitsu was completely unconcerned about finding {demons}, looking around aimlessly.
"We'll find them, but it will take time," Ryuji replied calmly.
"I think we don't need to actively search the mountain. We could just stay in the village temporarily. The {demons} will come to us at night. Wouldn't that be great?" Zenitsu shared his idea.
Ryuji hadn't expected Zenitsu to suggest a "wait-and-see" strategy.
"Then, we'll kill every single one, leaving not a single one alive," Zenitsu continued, acting like a heroic swordsman, gesticulating wildly.
Ryuji was amused by Zenitsu's antics and played along.
"If the {demons} don't appear, should we settle down in the village, marry, have children, and continue waiting?"
Zenitsu nodded immediately. "Exactly! We must protect the peace of the village and never let {demons} harm the villagers!"
Thinking Ryuji was on the same page, Zenitsu leaned in and whispered, "Don't compete with me for women, especially the one I proposed to today!"
Seeing Zenitsu still thinking about the girl, Ryuji gave him a sharp rap on the head and poured cold water on him. "What are you thinking? You're still thinking about that girl!"
Zenitsu immediately covered his head and distanced himself from Ryuji.
"Zenitsu, you'll eventually die under a woman's skirt," Ryuji said unexpectedly.
Zenitsu didn't understand what Ryuji meant and retorted, "That's much better than dying at the hands of a {demon}!"
Ryuji was speechless and ignored Zenitsu.
Ryuji understood that Zenitsu was using the "wait-and-see" strategy as an excuse to stay in the village so he could find love.
So, Ryuji ignored Zenitsu, letting him bask in his beautiful fantasy.
Then, Ryuji turned his attention to Tanjiro, whose expression was serious. He hadn't paid attention to the banter between Ryuji and Zenitsu.
Seeing that Ryuji was ignoring him, Zenitsu tried to persuade him. "Ryuji, won't you consider my suggestion? After all, procreation is the fundamental mission of a man!"
Ryuji ignored him and asked Tanjiro, "Tanjiro! Any discoveries?"
Tanjiro shook his head. "No {demon} scent detected yet."
Seeing no scent to follow, Ryuji said, "Then let's rest by the stream for a while, then change direction and continue searching."
