Erin's face paled when she heard what Dante had asked. But, she quickly composed herself and gave a sharp answer.
" I was just giving work to do as her senior."
Erin said with reason. After all she was Daphne's senior, there was nothing wrong to give your junior work to do, right?
" That would have been appropriate, but you both are not in the same department." Dante retorted still not pleased with the answer Erin gave him.
" Sir?"
" Ms Windsor is in administrations, you in research and development." Dante said with curiosity. Erin was quiet because she didn't know what to say. He also kept quiet for a while before he asked a question out of the blue.
" Ms Windsor, how long have you been working on tasks for Ms Harper?"
" I would say, a while. Let's say a month and two weeks." Daphne said also thinking of something too in her head.
Erin looked at Daphne and looked at Mr Vander Woodson too. She was internally praying to all the highest beings that exists to help her through this situation.
" It seems all this time, it was Ms Windsor that had been doing your work for you." Dante said with a confirmation tone, like he expected it. The thing was, while he had been going through a work Daphne did for him, he received one from Erin. He also looked through Erin's when he noticed that they both looked similar. They both had a similar orderliness and neatness. He then wondered one thing. He was the one doing the work.
It had been confirmed.
It was Daphne
Erin was about to speak but Dante gave her look. It was a look that said he didn't want to hear anything, Erin had to say.
" Ms Windsor, you saw that both your departments don't correlate, so why did you do it anyway? Or you didn't know?"
" I knew she was getting me to do work for her, I just willingly went at it because I wanted something that task me." Daphne gave her most sincere answer. It was obvious that she was doing Erin's work.Erin had probably felt like she was using Daphne and taking advantage of her. But she didn't mind because it gave her more things to do in her bored times.
" Okay, excuse us." Dante said startling the women. Erin internally froze. Why was he sending Daphne away?
Daphne bowed her head and left.
She stood at the front of the door and sighed. That was a close call.
Daphne left for her office and saw Lauren waiting for her. Daphne went in and sat on the desk, while Lauren was sitting on her chair.
" Where have you been woman? Is something wrong?" Lauren asked after seeing that Daphne was lost in thought.
Daphne narrated everything that had just happened to Lauren.
" What? You mean that bitch had been making you do her work?"
Daphne nodded
" Honey, why would you let someone take advantage of you like that? And don't get me started on some shit like " I was doing it because I was bored." Lauren said to Daphne with a knowing look.
" I was doing it because I was bored."
" Well, I think that will be sorted out peacefully, I think Mr Woodson let you go, so you have nothing to worry about." Lauren said trying to end the matter quickly because she noticed her friend looked disappointed.
"I hope so."
" Now, what is really wrong with you? It seems this was not what made you worried."
" I disappointed someone. I, for the first time in years didn't meet up to par. Like sure she was using me but I disappointed her." Daphne said with disbelief, she always did her things with order and balance. Why was she suddenly lacking?
" You need therapy and exorcism."
Daphne and Lauren stepped out the office and went to the lunch room. Daphne went to pick some snacks to eat. She was like she was also dehydrated too. So the plan was to get water and snacks. Lauren also seed to be having the same plan in mind as she also grabbed snacks and water.
They were about to leave,when they were brushed by someone.
" Hey? Watch were you are going?"
" That should be said you, considering you were walking like your eyes are in your nose." The person commented briefly and stormed off. In normal circumstances, Lauren would probably beat or curse that person out, but she didn't because Daphne pinched her and held her.
" I can't believe, someone spoke to me that way and I let them go. Usually I would beat that person's ass. It shows I am growing older *sigh* I miss the rage." Lauren said looking at the direction the person had followed.
" Why did you not ignore me then? Why did you not go for it."
" Because I am growing old Daphne, somethings you let go." Daphne looked at Lauren with narrowed eyes. Okay what was going on with Lauren? Was she sick, relocating, getting married....what was happening? Her friend was not behaving like herself right now.
" What is up with you?" Daphne asked with curiosity.
" Nothing." Lauren said and shrugged.
" Also, we are the same age, what do you mean growing old?"
" Don't you know I'm an old soul?" Lauren teased.
" Whatever."
