Chapter 52 - Chapter 51: The Gathering Storm

"Eliminate you?" Kirei Kotomine shook his head. "Impossible. How could I possibly be your opponent?"

"Oh? Then what about you?"

"The sensation of 'joy' is something I cannot experience. Therefore, I have no need to pursue it. So, if you'll excuse me."

Kirei Kotomine still answered, but for him, there was a clear lack of confidence and a hint of confusion in his words.

Angra Mainyu's expression shifted as he looked at Kirei.

"Kirei Kotomine, you truly are an interesting individual."

"What is it?"

"Nothing much, I just sense a certain… compatibility between us."

Angra Mainyu walked up to Kirei Kotomine, revealing the black mud in his hand. With a casual flick, a Black Key materialized.

"Your wish runs deep, you know. In the depths of your soul lies a great desire, and a profoundly wicked one at that."

"What do you mean?"

"My identity is All the World's Evil. When it comes to evil, perhaps no one understands it better than I do."

Angra Mainyu handed the Black Key to Kirei Kotomine. "Take this, and think carefully. I will return for you later."

With those words, Angra Mainyu vanished.

Only Kirei Kotomine remained, staring at the Black Key in his hand, lost in thought.

Elsewhere, in a hidden space.

Jeanne d'Arc Alter was looking at Marshal Gilles de Rais.

"Have they left yet?" Jeanne was referring to Arthur's Round Table Knights. Currently, the twelve knights were searching the area, clearly not wanting to let Jeanne and Gilles escape.

However, Caster's concealment abilities were quite effective, and they hadn't been found yet. But it was only a matter of time.

"They should have."

Jeanne nodded. Earlier, facing Arthur's Sword of Assured ed Victory, Jeanne had exerted nearly all her strength. In her current state, she was severely injured! A temporary replenishment of magical energy was impossible.

Recovery would take several days at least.

"Gilles, we need to hide for three days. Is there any way?"

Gilles thought for a moment, then said resolutely, "There is!"

"Jeanne! I will desperately help you endure these three days."

"Gilles, you mustn't!"

"Hahaha! To give everything for my holy maiden! What is there for Gilles de Rais to fear?!"

"Marshal!"

Jeanne called out to Gilles, but he had already left.

---

"Lord Bluebeard, you've returned."

Ryunosuke Uryu looked directly at Gilles. However, Gilles said nothing, instead directly killing several living beings and absorbing a portion of their magical energy.

"Ryunosuke! I must tell you everything now!"

"What?"

Gilles placed his hand before Ryunosuke. "Seven. There are seven other beings like me in this world. They all seek to kill me now!"

"What! Unforgivable? But… why?"

"The Holy Grail! Because the victor can obtain the Holy Grail! And the Holy Grail can grant any wish!"

"Any wish!"

"That's right! Including yours."

Gilles remained silent, simply looking at Ryunosuke Uryu before him.

"So what?" To Gilles' surprise, Ryunosuke Uryu showed no reaction.

"The things I desire are not something others can give me."

"Hahahaha, my Master, you and I are truly kindred spirits!" Gilles laughed heartily.

"Of course."

"In that case, Ryunosuke, I must tell you!" Gilles placed his hand on the Command Seals on Ryunosuke's hand. "This is the crystallization of magecraft. I need you to empower me! Use these three Command Seals! Then, we shall go and find some more… life!"

Gilles raised both hands high. "My Master! Let the world witness our ultimate art!!!"

"The ultimate art!!!"

With the Command Seals and with life force, just how powerful would Gilles' sea monster become this time?!

Meanwhile, in the Matou household…

"Have you decided?" A mass of black mud stood before Kariya Matou.

"You… you can really help me!" Kariya Matou looked at the black mud in astonishment!

"Indeed." The black mud—no, Angra Mainyu—answered directly. He understood the resentment in Kariya Matou's heart, and he understood the deep desires within him. Aoi Tohsaka!!! This was Kariya Matou's greatest weakness!

Kariya Matou gritted his teeth. He seemed to recall his head of household, the torment that old insect inflicted upon him! He seemed to recall Tokiomi Tohsaka, the man who possessed everything he had ever sought. He seemed to see his own final death!!!

He was unwilling! He was resentful! Why! Why couldn't Kariya Matou be the victor! In that case! Fall! As long as he could succeed, what was there that he couldn't sacrifice now!!!

Kariya Matou… fell!!!

---

Meanwhile, at the Tohsaka household…

Arthur had just returned to his room. Tokiomi Tohsaka nodded, indicating he would take his leave, his adherence to protocol dictating that he would wait for both kings to return before going to sleep.

Arthur nodded, and Tokiomi Tohsaka left.

"Arthur! You're back!" Jeanne dragged her weakened body into the room. The magical energy Arthur had provided was merely a temporary fix; Jeanne was still very weak.

"Arthur, was it… her?" Jeanne was, of course, asking about Jeanne Alter.

Arthur nodded and said, "Yes, she has joined forces with Gilles. Right now, I don't know where they are."

Arthur's gaze suddenly hardened. "But rest assured! I will not allow them to continue disrupting the peace!"

Jeanne nodded gratefully. She knew that the man before her was intervening in this matter for her sake; otherwise, given his nature, he wouldn't willingly go to such trouble.

"It's a pity… I lack sufficient magical energy to assist you right now."

"It's alright. You'll recover," Arthur said, embracing Jeanne. Upon their contact, Jeanne's body subtly shifted, but she didn't pull away.

In her final moments of life, her decision to seek out Arthur was the greatest testament to her trust in him.

"Yes, I believe you," Jeanne whispered, then left Arthur's embrace. "You're tired too. Go back to sleep."

"Good night."

"Good night."

Jeanne watched Arthur leave, her mind filled with thoughts. Of course, she had considered replenishing her magical energy. So, she had deliberately inquired with Tokiomi Tohsaka, who had readily informed her.

There were two methods:

1. Kill people and absorb their magical energy. Naturally, Jeanne immediately rejected this. As a saint, she would never indiscriminately take innocent lives.

2. Replenish mana (please search for the meaning if you don't understand).

At this thought, Jeanne's face flushed crimson. The innocent maiden Jeanne was still quite bashful. She glanced at Arthur, the man who was tirelessly working for her sake. Perhaps… he wasn't so bad.

"What am I thinking!" Jeanne slapped her head! Then, she covered her red face. Watching Arthur's departing back, she silently thought, "Since I believe in him, then nothing will change."

Of course, the departing Arthur had no idea that Jeanne held such trust in him; otherwise, he would surely have been overjoyed.
