Kai blinked slowly, his vision adjusting to the figure in front of him. He murmured under his breath.
Kai (whispering): "Is this… a dream? Bast…"
Bast smiled softly, his voice tender.
Bast: "It's not a dream, Kai."
Kai's eyes widened in shock. He quickly sat up and threw his arms around Bast, hugging him tightly.
Kai (breathless): "It's really you…"
Bast held him just as tightly, wrapping his arms around him protectively.
Bast (gently): "I'm sorry, Kai. I was late… I couldn't protect you."
Kai didn't reply—he just clung to Bast, his arms locked around him like he'd never let go again. His eyes brimmed with tears. Bast looked down at him, his voice firm but filled with warmth.
Bast: "Don't worry. I'm never leaving you alone again. I'm here now… Let's go home."
Kai's voice cracked.
Kai: "I missed you, Bast…"
Bast gently wiped the tears from his cheeks.
Bast (softly): "I missed you too."
