Because of talking to a stranger, Li Lin was stared at with cold eyes by Texas for probably several hours.
Although he didn't know why he couldn't talk to strangers, nor why Texas always insisted on keeping him right in front of her, Li Lin was, after all, a good child who accepted things humbly. In this unfamiliar world, goodwill was a rare commodity. So, although Li Lin didn't understand Texas's sullenness, at least he didn't find it very troublesome. Mm, mainly because Texas's face was very good-looking; otherwise, even someone with his good temper would get angry.
After tossing and turning all night, he didn't even take advantage of this rare rest time to write anything. Instead, he was dragged by the gloomy-faced Texas to spar in the room—literally getting beaten up—and after getting extremely tired, Li Lin basically washed up, lay on the bed, and slept until broad daylight, without any other thoughts.
Only after washing up, dressing, and walking out the door did he discover that the members of Penguin Logistics had all woken up and started chatting and fooling around while waiting.
Exusiai, sitting on the railing listening to music, spotted Li Lin walking out of the door rubbing his head and limbs at a glance. Her eyes instantly lit up, she flipped down from the railing, and greeted Li Lin with a grin.
"Ah, Prophet~ How did you sleep last night?"
"Felt like being beaten up by a wolf for about two hours, then being gored by a bull and thrown against a wall, passing out, and finally waking up with difficulty only to find two fluorescent lights above my head. If you're asking how I slept, I'd say I slept quite intensely."
"Ahahaha… Sorry, sorry, it's just that training like this can't stop; if it stops, the effect will be greatly reduced."
"Really? Was it really just training?"
"Really. Want some apple pie?"
"Thanks."
Watching Exusiai pull out an apple pie from her pocket like magic, Li Lin obediently took it and stuffed it into his mouth.
The taste was indeed very fragrant and sweet; it seemed Exusiai, perhaps unable to sleep at night or for some other reason, had gone to the kitchen and made a dessert herself. After stuffing one portion into Li Lin's hands, Exusiai hopped onto the railing beside Li Lin with a 'heigh-ho' sound and stuffed another apple pie into her mouth.
"Why aren't we leaving? Didn't you say it was okay already?" Li Lin chewed on the apple pie, looked down at Croissant and Texas who were boredly using the off-road vehicle as a boundary, playing what looked like killer tennis (殺人網球 - shārén wǎngqiú) to Li Lin with two tennis rackets, and casually asked Exusiai: "I remember you said we could go back today? That bull-headed police chief was even going to see us off. Why are we still staying here now? Did something happen that forces us to stay?"
"No. It's just that bull-headed police officer resigned and went home. Ran off overnight. Said he really couldn't stand the atmosphere here, so he just ran. On our side, without proof, the new police officer doesn't dare guarantee anything either, we have to wait until the road conditions are confirmed before we can go back."
Taking a bite of apple pie, Exusiai squinted and said:
"It'll be quick, just wait another ten minutes or so."
"Penguin Logistics! You can leave!"
"Okay~"
Before she finished speaking, an Ursus man with a somewhat kind face emerged from the high tower opposite and let out a bear roar at them.
And Texas and the others also jumped directly into the air, caught the tennis ball, casually tossed it into the car, and beckoned Li Lin and Exusiai, who were watching the show from above, to come down and prepare to leave. Exusiai jumped down stylishly directly from the third floor. But Li Lin could only embarrassingly pack up his supplies and continue sitting in the back amidst Croissant's laughter. Fortunately, though, he had learned his lesson; he had used face-to-face transfer to download several small games onto the phone he bought in Lungmen, so the journey wasn't lonely.
However, while using it, Li Lin always suspected if something was wrong with his brain at the time. If only he had asked Exusiai for a face-to-face transfer data cable back then, downloading a few mobile games would have solved the problem, why didn't he think of that?
This suspicion lasted until the vehicle had driven back to Lungmen and stopped downstairs at Penguin Logistics.
"We'll go pick up the goods first, you tidy up here first. Don't go online."
"Okay okay."
"Then we're leaving."
Waving goodbye to Li Lin whom they dropped off, Texas drove off with Exusiai and Croissant to pick up some non-urgent transport tasks. Although it was only one day, there was still a backlog of tasks accumulated. They could handle it themselves, temporarily not needing an ordinary person prone to carsickness.
"…Ah, home, sweet home."
Pulling open the car door and looking at the familiar sign of Penguin Logistics, although only a day had passed, Li Lin still felt very nostalgic.
The world outside was too dangerous, full of political struggles, suicide bombs, deaths, and the like; Lungmen was still better. Penguin Logistics was still better. Li Lin would thank Exusiai for the rest of his life for dragging him directly out of the barren periphery of Lungmen into this civilized society.
Exusiai, Croissant, Texas, and the others, because they still had stamina, and adhering to the principle of 'loving whatever line you're in' (干一行爱一行 - gàn yī háng ài yī háng), went to pick up goods again. Li Lin, already feeling carsick and somewhat nauseous, was decided to be left behind at the headquarters to clean. But actually, there wasn't much to clean. Files and such had already been confiscated, and paper and pens hadn't been restocked much due to the chaos a few days ago. Li Lin thought for a moment and decided to buy a box of paper and pens to bring back, lest problems arise again later.
The most important thing was, he hadn't written much for two weeks; in his previous life, this would require an apology.
However, as Li Lin was slowly walking back to the Penguin Logistics building carrying two boxes of paper and pens, a white-haired Lupo girl's eyes suddenly lit up. She walked over to Li Lin with pattering steps, circled around him, making Li Lin feel somewhat creeped out, then tapped her lips and pointed at the Penguin Logistics sign.
"Yo, hello, are you an employee of this company?"
"Hello. Is there anything I can help you with?"
Looking at the white-haired Lupo before him, Li Lin asked very friendly.
The Lupo before him looked like the type who focused very much on simple and efficient movement; a pair of straight, white thighs were exposed to the air, wearing shorts and a black shirt. Her pretty face faintly carried an emotion of being fixated on something. This inexplicable Lupo girl looked Li Lin up and down, then seemed to have made up her mind, forcefully slapping Li Lin's shoulder, making him shudder all over.
While Li Lin still couldn't figure out what happened, this girl exclaimed excitedly:
"Let me treat you to a meal! Let's build a good relationship!"
