~Bella's POV
As we stepped out of the accounting office, I still felt like I was dreaming. My sister's medical bills were finally cleared. The weight that had been pressing on my chest for so long felt lighter. I turned to Alex, wanting to say something, but the words got stuck in my throat. Instead, I simply nodded in gratitude, my heart swelling with emotions I couldn't quite explain.
Michael, who had been waiting for us, joined our side as we made our way to the doctor's office. Unlike Alex, whose presence was commanding and almost intimidating, Michael had a more relaxed air about him. But I could tell he was someone important too, especially with the way nurses and staff acknowledged him as we passed by.
We soon arrived at the doctor's office. I took a deep breath before knocking softly.
"Come in," a voice called from inside.
