After visiting Morvan, Lyra made her way back home. While on her way, she kept her guard up as her eyes and ears saw and heard even the slightest sound. She was worried about the appearance of blue elves again. But luckily, she got home without any problems. She began to consider moving out. But first, she needed to go somewhere
.....
A month passed by in a blur, leaving what happened in the Glades no more of a dream in Luc's memories. He was worried at first about him being attacked again but after he gave it some thought, he pushed that theory to the back of his mind while reminding himself to be careful every time.
He continued to go to work in the Ministry as usual. Luckily, there were no problems or obstructions. No one had questioned him about his leave as he had said he was ill and needed some rest.
The only person who seemed a tad-bit too nosy was Agatha. It wasn't new for Luc. The woman just cared for him too much. It made the longing for his mother lessen. She came over almost everyday, checking in on him and sometimes staying the night.
During her visits, she would cook some food for him accompanied with a certain bowl of soup which Agatha said was to replenish his body from the illness. The soup smelled and tasted nice. He loved it.
The only odd thing that had been happening was that Luc's eyes had become extremely active. By active, this means his eyes saw those shadow spirits much more often than before. And he seemed to be sleeping a lot too.
He didn't pay any mind to it as he had known his eyes were special ever since he began experiencing these. He just didn't understand why. He wasn't too keen to find out either and he gradually took it as part of his life.
Seeing those shadow spirits didn't scare or surprise him anymore. The only thing was the shadow spirit who would occasionally appear in his home. It would just stay there, watching him. It gave him the chills.
Ever since that time when the shadow had said his name, Luc had been curious. He had never seen a shadow as peculiar as this one who could talk, therefore, he had been genuinely curious.
One time, he had even tried to talk to the shadow. But the shadow had said nothing. It would just stand or float there, he didn't know, staring at him. Ever since the time when it had said his name, the shadow didn't speak ever again.
Luc was beginning to think he jad heard things that night. It wasn't impossible. Plus, he knew nothing about these beings. He had tried to find out about them at some point. He had read and searched for books that had anything about them in the libraries but there was nothing. After some years of searching, he gave up.
But another weird thing about this shadow was it usually appeared when Agatha came in. It was like it was afraid of her. But whenever someone like Asher came in, it stayed there, unfazed. Could it be that the shadow knew Agatha was from the Council? But was that even possible? That was the only logical explanation as of now.
But all this thinking really tired him out. He came home and locked his door. As usual, he looked around searching for the shadow but oddly, he didn't find it anywhere. The shadow wasn't in its spot or anywhere else. Could it be his eyes' special ability wasn't working right now?
Luc frowned but then shrugged. He couldn't care less. It was a good thing for him after all.
It was nice to sit in his living room without some stupid shadow watching him.
Luc sighed, clearly satisfied. He dropped his coat on the sofa and left to the kitchen. He seemed to remember something as he went to his drawer in the living room. That was when he noticed a shadow from the corner of his eye. It was a person. A girl. How could he not have noticed her when he came in?
He turned around to see that it was Lyra. She was in his house. Luc frowned. Lyra put on a smirk as she leaned against the white wall, one of her legs settled on the wall as the other stayed on the floor. She crossed her arms and her smirk turned to a grin when she saw his frown.
" Miss me?" Lyra asked. But Luc simply sighed as he closed his drawer. He looked at her sternly as he asked, " What are you doing here? And how did you get in?"
Lyra chuckled. " Well, that's some way to welcome your helper. Or have you forgotten me so soon" She said as she feigned hurt.
Luc rolled his eyes. " As for your second question...."
Lyra raised her index finger on her right hand as a green flame appeared. She waved it around as she looked at him as if saying, " Hello? I'm a witch?" Luc pinched the bridge of his nose.
The last thing he needed right now was the scent of a witch in his apartment. But it's not like he could ask her to leave. Plus it was only right since he had used her place for shelter when she wasn't exactly willing.
Lyra ignored the expressions he was making and walked around. Her hands ran along the furniture as her eyes romed around. " When you came in, it seemed like you were looking for something...or someone. Was it a shadow spirit?"
Luc ignored her as he went to the windows and closed the curtains. He also double checked to see if all doors were locked. He didn't want anyone seeing him with a witch. If that happened, he would surely get reported to the Magistrate and get fired, or worse killed. Probably the latter.
Lyra chuckled at his actions, " What a careful little rat you are. I really would have loved to stay longer but unfortunately, we don't have the luxury of time" Luc looked at her, clearly confused.
" We?" He asked.
Lyra nodded, affirming his question. She loved the confused look on his face but she still couldn't shake off that weary feeling. After finding out what Luc really was, everything suddenly made sense. Everything fell into place.
Lyra erased her thoughts as she smiled at him saying, " Pack your bags, Luc dear. We are going somewhere".
