Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Ordinary Life in Morioh Town

Regarding Yamcha's explanation, Josuke Higashikata's family didn't find anything suspicious. After all, they knew little about Interpol, and considering that Yamcha had saved them twice, they were more grateful than doubtful.

Only Jotaro Kujo still harbored some doubts about Yamcha's identity, but he chose not to press further.

After all, Yamcha had done nothing to harm them.

Jotaro might still assign people to investigate Yamcha's background, but Yamcha wasn't worried. Even if the Joestar family was now one of the world's wealthiest and had top-tier intelligence networks, finding information on someone who technically never existed was an impossible task.

When they inevitably failed to uncover anything, their natural assumption would be that someone had intentionally erased Yamcha's records. After all, in a normal person's understanding, no one could just appear out of thin air without any logical trace.

This was the result of an information gap.

Even if they eventually discovered that Yamcha had suddenly appeared in Morioh Town, it would be long after he had already left this world.

Thus, Yamcha had nothing to fear and could continue using his fabricated identity as a black-clad Interpol officer.

Most importantly, Morioh Town was full of strange individuals. There was even someone claiming to be an alien. What's one more international police officer in the mix?

"This seemingly peaceful town is brewing something terrifying. I'm sure you've sensed it too, Jotaro-san. Otherwise, you wouldn't have come all this way."

To ensure that his next steps went smoothly, Yamcha decided to give Jotaro something to occupy himself with.

"My old man thinks the same," Jotaro replied indifferently, referring to his grandfather—Joseph Joestar, the protagonist of Part 2 of the JoJo series. Once known for his intelligence-based battles, he was now just an ordinary elderly man suffering from dementia.

"What do you know?" Jotaro asked, looking directly at Yamcha.

"According to our intelligence, there's been a recent increase in individuals with special abilities in this town—what you call Stand users." Yamcha deliberately mixed nine parts truth with one part deception.

"This kind of situation isn't normal. Just like eleven years ago…"

Yamcha paused and gave Jotaro a meaningful look.

"In Cairo."

Jotaro's expression immediately turned serious. "Someone is artificially creating Stand users?"

Since the battle against DIO and the Egypt 9 Glory Gods in Cairo, Jotaro had been keeping a close eye on Stand users, actively hunting down DIO's remnants. Over the years, however, newly emerging Stand users had been few and far between. That was why his Star Platinum's time-stop ability had declined to just 0.5 seconds—because he barely needed to use it.

But now, a sudden surge in Stand users? It mirrored the events of DIO's resurrection era perfectly. He couldn't ignore it.

"I don't know for sure, but it's evident that someone in this town possesses the ability to create Stand users. If they're rational, it's fine. But if their mental state is unstable, it could lead to a disaster."

Yamcha exaggerated his gestures as he spoke.

"Yare yare daze… So investigating Angelo was just a cover? Your real mission was always this. Seems like Interpol and the local police don't see eye to eye."

Yamcha neither confirmed nor denied it. He simply shrugged.

"I believe that once Jotaro-san understands the situation, he won't just stand by and do nothing."

"…I get it. If I find any clues, I'll inform you."

"Then I'll leave it to you, Jotaro-san."

Seeing Jotaro agree, Yamcha let out a slight sigh of relief.

If Jotaro had kept a close eye on him, it would've been troublesome to execute his next plans. So, he had deliberately leaked future developments to Jotaro.

Jotaro was fundamentally cold on the outside but warm on the inside, with a strong sense of justice—one of his core character traits, especially when Stand users were involved.

If it had been the younger version of Joseph Joestar instead, he wouldn't have been so easy to fool. That old man's intelligence and unpredictability were too sharp when he was at his peak.

Even if Jotaro was no longer in his prime, as long as he wasn't careless, he could still take on any Stand user in Diamond is Unbreakable without much trouble.

At some point, Yamcha planned to leak information about a certain office worker who just wanted a quiet life. Although among all JoJo villains, Yoshikage Kira had the lowest overall threat level—targeting only women with beautiful hands—he was still a dangerous serial killer who showed no hesitation in murdering.

A few days passed quickly.

After learning that Yamcha had no permanent residence, Josuke's family enthusiastically invited him to stay with them.

Thus, Yamcha temporarily lived with the Higashikata family.

Men bond over shared battles and hardships. Cough, cough.

Yamcha and Josuke had fought together, and he had saved Josuke's grandfather and mother. Since their ages were similar—Yamcha's body looked around 15 despite being 13, while Josuke was 16—it was natural for them to become close friends.

At least in Josuke's eyes, he and Yamcha were now best bros.

"Josuke, how about we grab some Italian food?"

Yamcha pointed toward an Italian restaurant nearby called Trattoria Trussardi.

"Italian food? I've never had it before."

Josuke was intrigued but instinctively checked his wallet, and his expression stiffened.

I've already spent all my allowance this month…

Noticing Josuke's hesitation, Yamcha patted his shoulder. "My treat. Eat as much as you want."

"Heh, well, if you insist…"

Despite his words, Josuke moved faster than Yamcha. "What are we waiting for? I'm starving!"

The two of them pushed open the restaurant door.

Yamcha casually chose a seat near the entrance.

Or rather, there weren't many choices. The entire restaurant only had two tables.

There were no menus; instead, the restaurant operated on a customized dining system. This unique concept intrigued Josuke.

The timeline of Diamond is Unbreakable was set in 1999. At that time, private chef-style dining was rare even in Tokyo, let alone in a small town like Morioh.

A polite and refined man warmly greeted them.

"My apologies. I am both the owner and the chef. As you can see, due to my limited energy, I can only serve two tables at a time. Even so, it's exhausting."

The man introduced himself as Tonio Trussardi, a chef who had trained worldwide. Because his remarkable culinary skills were met with distrust in Italy, he had moved to Japan to open a restaurant.

"I will prepare dishes tailored to your needs."

As he spoke, Tonio turned to look at Yamcha.

The next moment, a peculiar light seemed to shine in his eyes.

"I see it… The hidden ailments within your body."

This was no ordinary restaurant.

Chef Tonio Trussardi was a Stand user.
