Chapter 206 - Chapter 204: The Mark of the Forgotten

---

The world was healing, slowly and surely. With the Cracked Lands calm again, villages were thriving, crops were growing, and the skies felt lighter. But in a faraway part of the world—where no one had stepped for centuries—an old ruin began to stir.

Stone pillars covered in moss cracked as a strange force awoke beneath them. Deep underground, a seal—forgotten even by the gods—started to break. A cold wind blew through the ancient halls as red eyes blinked open in the darkness.

Far away, Chirag felt it.

He was teaching a group of children about energy control when a sharp chill passed through him. It was quick, but deep. Like a whisper from an old enemy.

Siya noticed it too. She was standing near the training grounds, watching him. "You felt that?" she asked, walking over.

Chirag nodded slowly. "Something just… woke up."

Kael arrived a few minutes later, landing in front of them with worry on his face. "There's a shift in the energy fields. Something ancient. It's not just wild—it's unknown."

Chirag took a deep breath. "Then we go find it."

---

The Journey Begins

The three of them prepared quickly. This time, they took only one trusted guide: Rivan, the quiet earth wielder from the East Mountains. He had a strong connection to the land and could sense energy hidden deep underground.

Their journey took them through deserts, across rivers, and finally into a foggy jungle no map had fully explored.

"This place gives me chills," Rivan said, looking around.

Chirag nodded. "It feels like it hasn't been touched for hundreds of years."

Vines as thick as trees hung from twisted branches. The air was heavy. The only sounds were strange bird calls and the crunch of their boots on the muddy ground.

After two days of searching, they found it.

A black stone door, half-buried in the earth, stood in the middle of a ruined temple. Symbols glowed faintly on the walls—symbols none of them recognized.

Kael examined them. "This is older than any writing I've seen. Maybe even before the First Age."

Siya placed her hand on the door. A strange pulse of energy responded—dark, slow, and angry.

"This place is sealed for a reason," she whispered.

"And someone's trying to break that seal," Chirag added.

---

Inside the Ruins

They broke through the door using a mix of wind and earth magic. Inside, a long hallway led downward into darkness. Torches on the walls lit up as they walked, sensing their energy.

It was quiet. Too quiet.

Then they saw it.

A giant circle was carved into the floor of the main chamber. At its center was a stone coffin. Around it were more of the glowing symbols. But what shocked them most was the name written in ancient letters across the lid:

"Zheron – The Forgotten One."

Kael stepped back. "Zheron… That name was erased from all records. Not even the gods spoke of him."

Rivan's voice trembled. "My elders told stories of a being cast out even by the rulers. One who tried to drain life from the world itself."

Siya looked at Chirag. "We must reseal this place."

But before they could act, the ground shook.

The coffin cracked.

And black mist rose into the air.

A voice echoed in the chamber—cold and filled with hate.

"Who dares disturb my slumber?"

---

The Rise of Zheron

From the coffin, a figure rose. He wore ancient armor, broken and covered in dust. His eyes glowed red, and his hair floated like smoke.

"You…" he growled. "You are not gods. Not demons. Not rulers. What are you?"

Chirag stepped forward. "We are protectors of balance."

Zheron laughed. "Balance? That is a lie the weak tell themselves. The world was mine before your kind came. And it will be mine again."

He raised his hand. A blast of dark energy shot toward them.

Kael reacted first, blocking it with a wind barrier. Chirag followed with fire, pushing Zheron back, while Siya formed a shield to protect Rivan.

"Fall back!" Chirag ordered. "This is not a fight we win head-on."

They ran through the hallway, escaping into the jungle. But Zheron didn't follow. Instead, his voice echoed through the trees.

"You have seen my face. Now you will see the world fall."

---

Preparing for a New Threat

Back at the Origin Point, alarm bells rang.

"We found Zheron," Chirag explained to the council. "He's real. And he's free."

The council fell into silence. Even the oldest among them looked afraid.

"What does he want?" someone asked.

"To take back the world," Siya replied. "He believes life should be ruled by one force—his."

Kael stepped forward. "He's stronger than anything we've faced. We need a new plan. One that doesn't just use power. One that uses wisdom, unity, and… something deeper."

Chirag looked at the crowd of warriors, students, elders, and travelers. "Then we must prepare. Not just to fight—but to protect. We don't need more wars. We need more guardians."

---

The Guardians Assemble

Messengers were sent to every village and land. Not for soldiers—but for peacekeepers, scholars, healers, builders, and energy readers.

Each person had a gift. And now, the world needed all of them.

Siya led a group to build protective energy walls around the major villages. Kael trained wind scouts to track Zheron's energy wherever it moved. Rivan helped create underground shelters powered by earth crystals.

And Chirag? He returned to the heart of the jungle.

Alone.

He stood before the ruined temple again. The door was open now, the air colder than before.

"I don't fear you," Chirag said out loud.

Zheron's voice whispered from within. "You should."

Chirag clenched his fists. "I've lost too much to fear anyone now. This world is not yours to control."

He raised his hand, and a small flame lit his path.

The battle was not today.

But it was coming.
