Chapter 4 - Anticipating Feelings

Selene POV.

After getting trapped in Young Master Leon's wrath, I had no choice but to agree to his punishment.

The thought of being his personal maid alone, makes my stomach churn, but the stakes were too high.

With every clatter of dishes, I felt the uncomfortable reality of my situation settle in.

I would have to navigate this new dynamic, all while trying to hold onto my dignity in a house where my worth seemed to diminish with every moment passing.

"You should do things right!" In anger, he dropped the coffee, and it spilled on the floor, giving me extra work for cleaning again.

After taking care of the mess, I retired to my room and slumped on the bed. My eyes caught the picture of my mom with me on my graduation day with a big smile on our faces.

Who would have thought that would be the last memorable picture I'd taken with her?

"I miss you, Mom," I muttered with a low breath as I fought the tears that rolled down the corner of my eyes.

I don't know why I felt everything was my fault, but the truth remains the same.

Mom only wanted happiness for herself and I declined her marriage without knowing the painful outcome.

If only she was alive, everything would be easy for me since my stepdad was ready to take care of me.

I only declined their marriage because I felt she would have to divide her attention between me and him, I just don't like him

As I continued with my thoughts, a heavy knock that almost made my soul depart from my body, hit the door. I felt the effect of an earthquake in my room.

"Are you dead or something?"

It's Young Master Leon! I'm dead!

With tension heavily in the air, I rushed to open the door, and I was welcomed by his angry face. "What are you thinking about?"

"I'm not thinking about anything!" I replied firmly, trying to keep the composure that was almost spoiled.

"And you left the soup burning???"

At that moment, the wave of realization hit me Like a plane in the air, I ran at a speed that I couldn't imagine using on a normal day.

On getting to the kitchen, everywhere was filled with smoke but I managed to switch off the cooker before opening the doors and the windows.

"For what just happened, your punishment is to clean my room five times daily including washing my clothes. Both dirty and clean ones"

I almost ran mad at his punishment and I dared not to argue with him, forcing me to nod like a lizard filled with tension.

Five days of staying with young master Leon has been nothing but hell with no sign of redemption.

Young Master Leon has been a great assistant to the devil as he kept tormenting me with an opportunity he gets.

However, I had a sense of peace when I found out that Young Master Lewie would return today through a phone call with my Uncle.

I was able to find additional information on his favorite food.

I wanted to make the homecoming special, something to lift the dark cloud that had settled over me and this house since he left.

I spent the afternoon cleaning the house, scrubbing every corner, and ensuring everything sparkled. I even took an extra moment to arrange fresh flowers in a vase, hoping the gesture would brighten the atmosphere.

With a heart full of Joy, I anticipate his return as I prepare his beloved chicken, Alfredo. The creamy sauce, paired with tender pasta, did not let anyone distract me.

I've watched several videos on how to make the chicken and I didn't forget to watch the cooking practical on my phone placed on a safer side on the counter.

I glanced at the clock, counting down the minutes until his arrival. Time seemed to stretch, each tick amplifying my excitement. I set everything perfectly, lighting a few candles to create a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Since I've mastered the act in the video, I was able to finish the cooking in one attempt. As the day drew to an end, I kept waiting for him to arrive and he eventually did.

"Uncle!" I shouted, knowing fully well that I intended to greet Lewie instead.

He stepped inside, looking tired but undeniably handsome in his casual attire. The moment our eyes met, a smile broke across his face. "Selene!!"

Without thinking, I rushed toward him, my heart soaring. But in my eagerness, my foot caught on the edge of the rug, and I stumbled forward.

Before I could regain my balance, I felt myself falling, right into his arms.

Lewie caught me effortlessly, his strong hands gripping my waist. "Whoa! Easy there!" he laughed, his voice warm and filled with concern.

I looked up into his eyes, a mix of embarrassment and joy flooding my cheeks. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to..."

My uncle came inside coughing, his eyes on the hands that held my waist.

"It's fine, just give me something to eat"

"Of course, I've.." I couldn't finish my sentence when my biggest fear hit me hard. I'm now Young Master Leon's maid and I'm meant to serve only him and follow his order.

Pain surged in my heart, not because of the stress that I had gone through to prepare his favorite food but because the fact that I wouldn't serve him suddenly hurt me like crazy, and I wondered why.

When he noticed my expression, he was prompted to ask. "Are you Okay?"

"Yes, I am, but I won't be able to..." He cut me off as he walked into the kitchen, and then he meant his favorite food.

"Oh my goodness! You are so amazing, Selene I will take the drink to the dining; you can come along with the food." It seems Young Master Lewie was too hungry to understand the situation, and I couldn't stop him any longer.

I serve him with hesitation while having the fear of Young Master Leon in my heart. I was still serving the punishment, and breaking the rule would only make things worse.

"Why are you acting strange, Selene?" He asked, focusing his gaze on me.

I swallowed the lumps in my throat and was about to respond when a loud voice rang out.

"Why is my maid serving Someone else?"
