Chapter 34 - Chapter 34

[Ding! Mission Triggered—Hundred Battles, Hundred Wins: Win 100 Consecutive Matches Against Trainers!]

[Reward: Experience Boost Potion ×1 – Increases EXP gain by 10% after use.

Miracle Seed – Boosts Grass-type move power by 20%]

[Bonus Mission: If you defeat A.J. during the streak, rewards are upgraded!]

[Upgraded Rewards: All items become Special Grade—effects doubled!]

Hehehe… this system, man!

Misty said she wanted a 10-win streak, and the system immediately handed him a 100-win challenge.

But hey—perfect timing!

After clearing Viridian Forest, those low-level "EXP mobs" were getting rare. He'd already used all his Basic Rare Candies on Pidgeotto and had been wondering how to level up Pikachu quickly.

This Experience Boost Potion was just what he needed!

And if he beat A.J., he'd double the rewards? That'd speed Pikachu's climb to the top of the team's elite even faster.

After all, Pikachu was going to be one of his main aces in the long run—he couldn't afford to let his levels fall behind.

But A.J. wasn't an easy opponent.

In the original script, A.J. had set up a unofficial Gym and racked up an impressive 98-win streak. His ace was a Sandshrew, a Ground-type Pokémon that directly countered Electric-types.

Electric moves were useless against Ground-types.

And while Kazuki had Pidgeotto and Butterfree, A.J. also had a trained Beedrill to counter Flying- and Bug-types.

His Sandshrew had undergone special training to compensate for its type disadvantages. Even when facing counters, it held its own.

In other words, A.J. was going to be Kazuki's first real challenge.

Fortunately, unofficial Gyms like A.J.'s didn't count toward the Master of Type Disadvantager mission, so Kazuki didn't have to stress about using disadvantaged types. He could go all out.

But before taking on A.J., he needed to grind some more wins and work on the 100-win streak.

With the quest accepted, Kazuki and Misty got to work battling Trainers along the road.

Pikachu vs. Rattata – Victory!

Clefairy vs. Oddish – Victory!

Clefairy vs. Caterpie – Victory!

Clefairy vs. Geodude – Victory!

Pidgeotto vs. Zubat – Victory!

Butterfree vs. Beedrill – Victory!

One by one, Kazuki crushed every rookie Trainer in the area. For speed's sake, he used type advantages almost exclusively—racking up wins like clockwork.

Forget Type Disadvantage Master. For now, power-grind mode: ON.

Clefairy, being a Fairy-type, had no direct elemental counters. She became the MVP of this segment—only taking breaks when facing Poison or Steel-types.

Before long, Kazuki had wiped the entire local circuit—23 wins under his belt.

---

"Woohoo! 10-win streak! Yesss!" Misty ran over, ecstatic, eager to brag.

But as she approached, she caught sight of Pikachu locked in battle with a high-speed Pidgeotto.

"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"

Pika—CHUUU!

Electric arcs exploded through the air, cutting off every possible escape route. The Pidgeotto had nowhere to run and plummeted from the sky—singed and smoking.

Pikachu vs. Pidgeotto – Victory!

And that Pidgeotto had been 10 levels higher.

"Whoa! My Pidgeotto was way stronger in terms of level, and it still lost! You're amazing!" the Trainer gasped, humbled.

Kazuki had just defeated the strongest local Trainer—and with that, the area's final opponent.

"Hah! Not bad, Kazuki! But I've already hit 10 wins myself!" Misty beamed proudly.

Her Starmie, though lacking a water field advantage, had easily crushed rookie Trainers.

"Nice! Didn't think you'd actually pull it off. Impressive!" Kazuki praised her without holding back.

"Of course! Don't forget who I am! So… what's your streak count?" Misty asked, full of herself.

"Hmm, lemme see…" Kazuki had barely been keeping track. He flicked open his system interface.

[Progress: 24/100]

"I'm at 24."

"…Huh?"

Misty froze. Her smug expression collapsed instantly. Her arms fell limp from her waist.

"Y-you… 24?! Already?!"

"N-no way! That fast?! You just said that to mess with me, didn't you?!"

"Not at all!" Before Kazuki could answer, the surrounding Trainers chimed in on his behalf.

"Yeah! It's true!"

"We've been counting!"

"Kazuki's amazing!"

Kazuki's stellar commanding had drawn a small crowd—now a chorus of fangirls and fanboys all singing his praises.

"Y-you're really at 24 wins?! You've already gotten that strong?" Misty looked at him in disbelief. She'd been traveling with him the whole time… and yet it felt like he'd leapt miles ahead overnight.

"Pfft. 24 is nothing. I'm going for 100 wins in a row!" Kazuki said boldly.

"Hmph! I say 10, and you say 100?! You're just trying to provoke me again!" Misty puffed out her cheeks in protest.

Heh. Not my fault. Blame the Perfect System.

Kazuki smirked and glanced around—only to realize they'd already fought every Trainer in the area.

"Too bad there aren't any more Trainers nearby… I'll have to go searching if I want to keep my streak going."

"Hey, Kazuki!" one of the fanboys called out, suddenly inspired. "Why don't you set up a battle stage—like that guy A.J. did? Let challengers come to you!?"

"Yeah! A.J. said he wanted 100 wins too! You could race him to see who hits it first!"

More excited voices joined in:

"If you set up a battle booth, I'll help you spread the word!"

"Me too!"

"I'll post on the forums!"

Everyone wanted to watch Kazuki in action again—to learn from his expert command style and catch another glimpse of that ultra-rare Clefairy.

Kazuki gave it some thought and nodded.

Yeah… this was actually a solid plan.

So he accepted the suggestion—and began setting up his own challenge stage.
