Chapter 2 - "System Loading… Please Wait

No response.

I sighed, rubbing my temples. "Alright, let's try the classics."

"Status."

Nothing.

"Menu."

Nada.

"Inventory."

Zip.

"…Help?"

Still nothing. And now I just felt pathetic.

I ran a hand down my face. "Cool, cool. Love that for me."

I mean, what kind of transmigration doesn't come with a built-in cheat system? Did I miss the tutorial? Was I supposed to fill out some paperwork? Because right now, I'm feeling severely underpowered for a guy about to live through a multiverse-level crisis.

And just as I was about to give up and accept my fate as another unlucky survivor, something flickered in the corner of my vision.

[Initializing…]

I froze.

Oh.

Oh, hell yes.

A floating HUD? Step one of every good isekai protagonist's journey? Check.

Now let's see what kind of nonsense I'm working with.

---

Name: Takashi Komuro

Race: Mutant

Characters Assimilated:

Fully Assimilated: None

In Progress: [Empty] [Empty]

Powers: Blink Exchange

System Functions Unlocked:

Spin (1 available)

---

Fuck. I'm a mutant.

Why? Why this, of all things?

Dammit. With gacha, I could've gotten any power imaginable. Been anyone. Done anything.

So why?

Why do you motherfuckers, readers or maybe ROB, want to play with my life like it's some cosmic joke?

Don't you know how mutants are treated in Marvel?

Honestly, you'd be better off wishing to be Spider-Man than a mutant.

Why choose this?

Sigh.

At least the power isn't trash.

So, "Blink Exchange," huh?

Basically, I can swap the positions of any two things, living or non-living, as long as they're both in my field of view. No touching required. Just see them, mark them, and boom. Instant position switch.

It's not teleportation, not really. More like a spatial trade. Spot A switches with Spot B, plain and simple.

But of course, there are limits.

Distance matters. The farther apart the targets, the harder it gets. There's no exact range cap, but the strain scales up fast.

Mass matters more. Try swapping a pencil with a parked SUV, and I'll probably end up bleeding out my nose or worse. The greater the mass difference, the more it drains me.

I don't get exact stats or anything, but I can kinda sense the risk just by looking. Like an instinctual power gauge.

Also, only one swap can be active at a time. Two targets. One shot.

Still, that's a seriously versatile ability. Rescue missions, sneak attacks, misdirection, escape routes—loads of potential.

I think I've seen this before. Oh yeah. The Trickster from Worm had something like it.

Anyway, back to the system.

Apparently, it's a GACHA system.

I get one point per day. So 30 days equals 30 points. Simple.

No expiry. I can stack spins if I don't use them. No forced daily roll nonsense.

Points: 1

I mean, no harm in testing it, right? Maybe I'd get lucky.

"Alright, Author," I muttered, cracking my knuckles. "Bless me with your divine mercy."

The moment I willed the spin to happen, the counter dropped to zero. A golden card materialised in front of me.

My breath hitched.

I grabbed it

It's a template

Child of Fury and Tony.

Yes… that means—

Bruce Wayne (Batman) (DC)

Oh shit.

One of the top-tier plot armour legends.

Tears welled up in my eyes.

"Thank you… whoever you are. I won't forget this blessing."

Top-tier fighter. Detective. Actor. A walking, talking skill tree. And best of all, I don't have to worry about getting ganked by some random thug anymore.

Which means...

There's a chance I'll meet Sentinel someday, huh?

I flipped the card over, half-expecting it to say:

"Terms and conditions apply. Side effects may include sudden urges to monologue and an inflated ego."

Nope. Just clean, premium Batman content.

I accepted the template.

And… nothing happened.

No sudden martial arts skills. No deep voice. No urge to wear a cape.

No "I know kung fu" moment like Neo from The Matrix.

Before I could even process the disappointment, another prompt popped up.

---

[Assimilation in Progress: 1%]

Estimated time for full assimilation: ???

Conditions for faster assimilation: Train, fight, survive.

---

I blinked.

So no instant uploads? I actually have to work for it?

Fucking rude.

But fine. At least that means I won't suddenly wake up thinking I'm a rich playboy with a sadist kink.

Still, I've gotta start training soon.

This is Marvel, after all.

Where every Monday, some lunatic tries to mutate the entire planet.

Tuesday? Oh, that's Mutant Eradication Day. Classic.

Wednesdays are when demons crawl out of hell just to mess with humanity.

Thursdays? That's when the heroes screw up and create their own problems, which ultimately becomes world's problem because why not.

Fridays are reserved for some random galactic empire trying to conquer Earth. Again.

Saturdays? That's when someone decides, "You know what? Let's just destroy the multiverse."

And on Sundays, the secret organisations come out of hiding to try and run the world from the shadows.

Yeah.

I need to get strong. Fast.
