In the distant past, there lived humans with abilities associated with the devil. Most of the humankind despised them, they were called the Adeptus.
The Adeptus Catchers lived to catch the Adeptus and torture them to death because they were considered dangerous to humanity.
But there were also humans who married and had children with the remaining Adeptus. Half-born Addptus being born has slim chances, but if they are born, they are only given the half of what the Adeptus's power could manage.
Pure-born Adeptus are powerful enough to cause a mass-murder. But if all Adeptuses, pure-born or not unite, they can cause a Whole Continent to fall.
They can even destroy otherworldly humans from other worlds. For now, the Adeptus have been removed from history for good.
"This book is so interesting…" He continued to flip the pages one by one.
Adeptus is a term that comes from latin, it often refers to someone who has achieved a certain level of knowledge or skill in a specific field and yet, the meaning of Adeptus is different in this book, it has an entirely different meaning.
"I'll read this again later." He said with a hint of softness in his tone while closing the book and gently placing it on the table.
Riven, A name that means to tear apeart, suitable for a villain who causes chaos and conflict.
"... I finally found another book that catches my interest." He started stretching his arms with an excited expression.
Riven stared at the clock to check the time, it's currently 2 pm.
"Its already afternoon?" He muttered to himself, taking his eyes off the clock.
Riven would usually start his day with the normal morning routine but today was quite different from his usual days.
Its Christmas.
But he didn't have any living relatives left except for his older brother. Riven's parents died whem he was 12, leaving his brother to take care of him. In the past, he felt quite guilty that his brother had to take care of him and apply for multiple jobs.
"... Should I buy him a present?" He smiled at the thought of it, his only brother was quite special to him.
Riven quickly rushed to the shoe store and bought him new shoes. "Brother would definitely like this… he doesn't really buy himself new shoes."
His older brother, Raven was quite over-protective because his only family left is Riven. He didn't like how people would insult them because they're orphans.
Riven was on his way to the apartment building, but when he got closer to the place, he suddenly saw his older brother getting beaten up by someone.
He squinted his eyes to take a good look, and hid in a corner until he heard a loud noise like someone stomping on the ground.
!!!
Riven saw his older brother getting up and quickly punched the man on the jaw, this was the first time he saw Raven like that.
"Brother…" He muffled as he held a heavy shoe box, the present for Raven.
After beating the hell of the man, Raven rubbed his lips that's covered with blood. He stared at the corner where his younger brother was hiding, he seemed to know that Riven saw him like this.
'Is that Riven? Shit… I didn't want him to see me like this.'
"Riven, come here." He spoke with his gentle smile, coming back to his brotherly personality.
Riven, still shocked by what unfolded infront of him slowly made his way to his older brother.
"Brother! Are you alright?" He observed Raven's arms to check if he had any injuries with a worried expression etched on his face.
"I'm alright." He started running his fingers through Rivem's hair, making it messy.
"Are you really, really okay??" This questioning has happened multiple times whenever Riven found him injured when he got back home.
Raven chuckled, his younger brother's worries made him feel loved but he also made Riven feel special in his own way.
"Let's go home."
"Okay!"
The siblings went back to their apartment, and once they got there, Riven quickly took out his present and gave it to Raven without a single thought.
"Eh? a— new shoes?" He was deeply surprised and slowly calmed himself down. "Thank you, Riven."
"My pleasure!"
"Actually… I got a present for you too." Raven rushed to find the present in the bedroom until he found the purple wrapped gift, resembling Riven's eyes.
He took the present and went his way back to the living room and gave the gift to his younger brother.
Riven gently unwrapped the present and his eyes widened in suprise mixed with happiness. "Woah! new books?!"
"Yes… It wasn't much so—"
"What do you mean it wasn't much?! its more that enough, brother! you're the best."
Raven slightly became flustered for a moment because of Riven's excitement.
The day was very special one for the siblings who were left by their dead parents, but would they ever expect what would happen in new years?
…
The siblings were gazing at the stars, many fireworks were being released in the night sky. Many celebrated outside although it was cold and it was dark. A time where people should be sleeping heavily, but the others were too excited to even care.
Buildings and houses surrounded the crowded place, people were having a fun time and the decorations were beautiful as always.
People were having conversations with their families or friends while celebrating, some even ate grapes under the table for good luck.
"The stars are really beautiful, right?"
"Woah, time flies so fast!"
"The fireworks are insanely pretty."
"I wish this will never end!"
Raven smiled while looking at the stars and fireworks that are being set off, it was a celebration that cannot be forgotten.
But—
All of a sudden, light enveloped a specific space and it slowly faded awake, revealing many strange people dressed in fancy and elegant dresses/suits or knight outfits.
"Eh?! what's that?!"
"Are they cosplayers or something?"
"That old man with a knight outfit that has a blue badge looks hot, to be honest."
"The fuck?! are you guys all stupid? this definitely isn't a cosplay or costume, they started appearing while light surrounded them!"
"That woman who's seemingly a knight looks hot, she could be my mommy."
Riven's eyes widened, if he remembered clearly, they are like those fantasy people in the books he started reading.
Knights, Magicians, Princesses, Princes, Kings, Priests, Dukes etc…
That was all the roles Riven could remember from the books.
"What's that?" Raven murmured to himself, his younger brother heard it and answered without any hesitations.
"They— are like those otherworldly people that I read in my books." He said with a surprised tone.
"But aren't they dangerous? I heard that they are powerful people in those fictional books." He followed witha shocking sentence. "What if they kill us because were too strange for them?"
Hearing that, Riven's jaw dropped lower than his grades. He had forgotten about that kind of situation.
The otherworldly people were murmuring to themselves, their expressions shows a mix of shock and suprise because of the unknown place and people who are wearing strange kind of outfits different to theirs. The seemed to be Knights calmed down the nobles.
One Man, seemingly a Commander from Their world based on his outfit and a blue badge with a strange structure of a Lion, he pointed his sword to a nearby Man's neck. He desperately seeked answers and the man knew that he would do anything for answers to his questions.
"Sir, do you know where we are?" His face shows that of many suspicions, but he dared not to cause a sudden uproar in a strange place.
The random man quickly responded, "U— uh! You're in our country, but who are you? Im sorry if my question displeases you but I'm curious and so is everybody else."
The man who answered the commander's question was being respectful despite the shock that the situation brang and others insults to the otherworldly people.
The otherworldly people seemed utterly confused and some were quite disgusted by what the strange looking people were wearing.
They were possibly nobles, Arrogant nobles. luckily, they wouldn't even live in peace in this world based that they are from another world.
The others were taking pictures and videos to take as evidence and some influencers even took it as a chance to start live-streaming the situation.
Meanwhile, Riven and Raven were just holding each other's hands and they felt a sudden anger rush through them as they stared at the commander.
They felt quite confused about the feelings that they're getting from the otherworldly people.
Fortunately, they were at the very back of the crowd so that the otherworldly people won't take a notice of them.
"Brother… I feel strange about them all of a sudden, It feels weird." He whispers, tightly clutching to Raven's shirt.
"Me too… especially that commander." He whispered back with a slight frown on his face.
Raven's eyes glared at the otherworldly people. His striking bright golden cat-like eyes that shimmer with a reflective quality, featuring almond shapes and slightly upturned outer corners, framed by long dark eyelashes.
Riven's eyes are the complete opposite of his older brother because he inherited his eyes from their late father.
He has soft violet eyes that exude a gentle and calming aura, with round shapes that give him an approachable and warm appearance, framed by delicate lashes that enhance their soothing color.
"Brother, this is… I don't like this anymore." He muttered, his expression turned into a frown.
"Ah… well, let's go now." Raven responded with a smile, slowly bringing the warmth back.
To be continued…
