Chapter 7 - carry on level up

Arka skidded to a stop right next to Kiki, both of them gasping like they'd just outrun the end of the world. They locked eyes, and Arka saw it—pure, wild excitement glowing in Kiki's gaze.

"Dude, that was nuts!" Arka panted, bending over with his hands on his knees. "You were like a tiny dino ninja back there!"

Kiki let out a proud little chirp, chest puffed out like, Obviously.

They stood there for a sec, letting the jungle sounds wrap around them. The raptor's angry screeches were fading into the background—music to Arka's ears.

"Think we shook it off," he said, shooting a glance behind them. "Still, no point hanging around. Let's bounce."

Kiki gave a quick nod, and they set off again, this time slower, quieter. The jungle was getting thicker now, the air heavier with the scent of flowers Arka couldn't name. He looked around, wide-eyed.

"This place… it's insane. Like we just stepped into some lost world."

Kiki chirped, taking it all in too. Then they found this tiny clearing, buzzing with insects and blooming like a secret garden. Arka grinned.

"Alright, pit stop. We've earned it."

They crashed in the shade of a big ol' tree. Arka dug out the last of the Dino Snacks. "Here ya go, buddy." He tossed a few, and Kiki snatched them up like a kid with candy.

While Kiki munched, Arka flicked open the interface.

"Yo, look at you go!" Arka laughed. "You're a freakin' XP machine!"

Kiki perked up, clearly vibing with the praise. Arka leaned back against the tree. "So, we explore more or set up camp? Your call."

Kiki tilted his head, then gave an excited chirp. Adventure mode: still on.

"Thought so," Arka smirked. "Alright, jungle—round two."

They packed up and headed deeper. But Arka couldn't shake this weird feeling. The jungle was alive, sure, but there was something… off. Like eyes watching from the dark.

"Kiki," he whispered, "stay sharp."

Kiki stopped suddenly. His body went rigid. A low chirp.

"What is it?" Arka crouched beside him.

Kiki motioned with his snout. In the shadows—glowing eyes. Two sets this time.

"Aw, c'mon," Arka muttered. "Double trouble?"

Kiki activated his cloak—gone like a whisper. Arka sucked in a breath. "Let's try to ghost past 'em."

They crept low, hearts thumping like war drums. But just as they were almost clear—

One raptor snapped its head their way. Eyes locked. Game over.

"Run!" Arka yelled, bolting.

Kiki was already gone, zigzagging through the trees. Arka followed, the raptors close, too close. Their growls were a promise.

"Kiki, we need a play!" Arka shouted. "Anything!"

Kiki dashed ahead, took a sharp turn around a massive boulder. Then Arka saw it—a narrow ravine, like a crack in the earth.

"There! The ravine!"

They dove in, the walls squeezing around them like jaws. Behind, the raptors snarled, too big to follow easily. For now.

They didn't stop moving. The ravine was cooler, quieter. Strange glowing plants lit their way. Arka looked around, breathless. "This place is wild. Like, weirdly beautiful."

Kiki chirped low, scanning ahead. Soon, they hit a fork. One path dipped into pitch-black; the other opened into a soft, glowing clearing.

Kiki pointed with his snout—clearing it is.

They stepped into what looked like a dream. Bioluminescent flowers blinked like stars. In the middle, a pond shimmered like melted glass.

"Whoa," Arka whispered. "This is unreal."

They wandered to the water. Kiki leaned in. Arka sat down on a rock, catching his breath. Then something shiny caught his eye beneath the surface.

"Hold up… what's that?"

He reached in, water cool as ice, and pulled out a smooth, rainbow-glow stone.

"You've got to be kidding me," he breathed. "This thing's gotta be special."

Interface up.

"Alright, let's stash it," Arka said, slipping it into his pack.

Then—rustle.

They both froze.

Out from the edge of the clearing came tiny, colorful dinos. Like bird-lizard mashups. Curious, cautious.

"Hey, little dudes," Arka said softly. "It's cool. We're friendly."

Kiki chirped gently, and the little dinos crept closer, eyes bright.

Arka grinned. "Guess we just made some new friends."
