Gwen stood on the rooftop, still in her Ghost-Spider mask, staring at Brandon with a mix of anger and curiosity. His "Sup, Gwen" and that stupid smirk had thrown her off balance. But before she could press him, Brandon did something she didn't expect.
"Alright, you wanna know what I'm hiding?" he said, a playful glint in his eyes. "Then watch."
Before Gwen could respond, Brandon stepped forward, grabbed her by the waist, and shot into the sky. Gwen yelped, startled, but soon burst into laughter as they soared over New York. Brandon, carrying her piggyback, laughed loudly, the wind whistling around them. The city sparkled below-skyscrapers, neon lights, a river of glow.
"Are you insane?!" Gwen shouted, but her voice was full of excitement. "How are you doing this?!"
"This is just the start!" he replied, speeding up. They looped over Manhattan, zipping past the Statue of Liberty and gliding above the Hudson River. Gwen, used to swinging on webs, felt a thrill-this was different, wild.
"Show me more!" she called, her eyes gleaming under the mask.
Brandon slowed, hovering above the city. He grinned, then extended a hand. A streetlamp below trembled, then lifted into the air, guided by his telekinesis. Gwen's jaw dropped as it spun a pirouette and returned to its place. Then Brandon winked, his eyes flaring red-a beam of energy sliced through a cloud, lighting up the sky.
"Oh my God!" Gwen jumped off his back, landing on a nearby rooftop. She pulled off her mask, her blonde hair with pink streaks glinting in the moonlight. "This… this is crazy! You're like… Superman, but way more badass!"
(They have comics about Superman in this world)
Brandon laughed, landing beside her. He saw her body practically buzzing with excitement, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. He felt it too-the thrill of someone finally knowing who he was and not being afraid.
"You haven't seen everything yet," he said, winking.
Gwen grabbed his arm, still buzzing.
"You have to show me the rest. Promise!"
A few days later, the vibe was different. Brandon and Gwen, now just college kids, hit up a party at a campus club. Music thumped, and Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold" blared from the speakers. The crowd went wild, and Gwen, in jeans and a loose tee, dragged Brandon onto the dance floor. They danced, laughing, their movements free, like the world outside didn't exist. Gwen swayed her hips, and Brandon, usually reserved, let her energy pull him in.
They didn't know how it happened. Maybe it was the drinks, maybe the adrenaline from flying over the city, or maybe just the chemistry sparking between them for weeks. One moment they were dancing, the next they were in an elevator, then in a hotel room "borrowed" from someone at the party. The door closed behind them, and Gwen, still laughing, pulled Brandon closer. Their clothes hit the floor.
