Emma's Pov
Ixora and I appeared back in my bedroom.
"Your training starts tomorrow." Ixora said."
"Training?" I asked confused.
"You 'll have to learn how to use and control your powers always." She replied.
"Well we can't train here in my bedroom." I said.
"Of course you won't be training here. You will be training at the Sage's temple."
"Sage's temple? Is that the name of the place we just came from?"
"Yes it is and you'll ..." She was cut short when my door opened and Natalie walked in.
"Emma I forgot my ..." She paused when she saw Ixora.
"Sorry, I didn't know you had a visitor. Who's she?" Natalie asked.
I looked from Natalie to Ixora and back. Natalie didn't seem scared by the situation, she was a girl that had faced a lot of worse situations so why would she? There was no reason to. Before I could speak Ixora did.
"I suppose she was the only girl that you told about your powers too?"
I looked at her, apparently nothing she says surprises me anymore.
"Actually I'm the only one who hasn't been fully honest and still have other things to say" Ixora said.
"Wait, have you been watching me?" I asked.
"Yes, but I had to wait so that you could accept the fact that you're not hallucinating and want explanations."
This is so messed up. Why?
"It is not messed up now." Ixora said again. I looked at her shocked while Natalie was confused.
"Are you now in my mind? That you answered to exactly what I was thinking."
"One of the things you need to learn, mind communication. Maybe when you come tomorrow, I'll tell you everything, with more answers." Ixora said.
"My name is Natalie by the way." Natalie said.
"The only reason I'm not wiping your memory to forget about all this is because of your relationship with her and the promise you made to her." Ixora said.
I was surprised. How did she know all this things?
Natalie nodded. "I'll come with tomorrow."
"There isn't even a route." I said.
"Your training will be everyday except Sundays."
"Don't I have a say in this. I have school too."
"There's no problem. You can still have your trainings. I'll come for you at 4pm everyday till 6pm."
"Two hours sounds fair." Natalie reasoned.
"Only if Natalie can come with me." I said. If I was going to do all this and take up this responsibility, I was actually going to need some support.
"Alright. She can come if she's up to it." Ixora agreed.
"Of course I am." Natalie said immediately.
"I'll leave you girls to it then." Ixora said and before I could reply she disappeared. Gone just like that.
"Was this how she made an entrance?"
"Trust me it was way worse." I replied.
"Hmm ... Tell me what she said is happening to you?" She asked sitting on my bed. I moved to sit next to her.
"Let me tell you in detail." I said.
Spirit Realm - Narrator's Pov
"There is a new guardian." A sinister voice said. "And it's all because of you two."
The two men that where in the park that night stood before Lord Xavier, heads low.
"We're sorry." The first one said.
"Forgive us sir." The second one said.
"I don't know if that can be accepted." Lord Xavier said in a darker voice.
The two were silent and began to shake were they stood.
"We'll do better next time." The first one continued to plead.
Lord Xavier relaxed back on his throne with an evil glint in his eyes.
"I'll give you one last chance to prove yourselves. Find out who the new guardian is and report back to me and keep an eye on whoever it is. I want that key the soonest." He said in a commanding voice.
"Yes, yes." One muttered.
"We won't fail this time."
"Leave then." Lord Xavier.
The two men bowed and left the large hall. Xavier's hands balled into fists. He looked at the man at the far end of the hall in chains on the neck, feet and hands. the man stared back at him.
"Why don't you just give up?" The man asked.
Xavier banged his fist on the arm of his throne.
"I'll find out who the new guardian is and trust me, he'll be next to you in no time."
The man didn't say anything and Xavier snapped his right finger twice.
"Send him back to the cellar."
A guard appeared from the shadows and moved towards the man.
The Next Day - Emma's Pov
Natalie and I walked into my room after school that day.
"When does Ixora get here." I said out of the blue.
"Someone seems hyper." Natalie said.
"I guess I'm a little excited."
"That's a good thing then." A voice said from behind us.
Natalie and I startled, turned around to see Ixora standing.
"Could you please stop making such entrances." I said after a deep breath.
"If you're lucky enough after today, I won't need to come pick you up."
I didn't quite understand what she meant by that.
"You two come stand beside me." She said.
Natalie and I moved to stand beside her, Natalie on her left and I on the right and in five seconds, we were right in the LIBRARY of the Sage's temple."
It was in the same room were Ixora had told me the story.
She moved towards the small desk in the room and picked up a book. It was a heavy thick leather book, brown in colour with an Emerald design.
"This is for you." Ixora said handing it to me.
I collected the book and stared at it. The title on it was LIBER CUSTODES. It felt heavy.
"What's this?" I asked giving it to Natalie to have a look.
"According to my story," Ixora began "I had said all this happening two hundred years ago, well I was lying, it happened a thousand years ago. Adam wasn't the first guardian not the second either."
"Umm Emma ... " Natalie called my attention. She had opened the book and handed it over to me. I looked at it and saw my name there, Emma Arnold with the number 50 at the left hand side with a picture of my face only. The rest of the page was blank.
"When was this taken?" I asked.
"Forget about when It was taken, we came here for serious business." Ixora replied.
She then continued on what she wanted to say. "As soon as you become the guardian. Look, I told you the true story but I missed out some details."
"I'm listening." I gave in affirmation.
"The war, I mean when bad creatures entered the human world was a thousand years ago. Guardians then were the good creatures here in the spirit realm. We were all fighting against one person and that's Lord Xavier. He's the leader of the bad creatures, demons, whatever you can call them. He wants the Emerald key to break the barrier and then he would move to the human world with his army. Adam was the first guardian from the human world, you're the second."
"Why didn't you say all this yesterday?" I asked.
"Your mind was all jumbled up. Reading it was a hassle. I decide to tell slowly."
I nodded. "You're not wrong."
"All the guardian powers are Mind communication, Teleportation, Mind reading, Spell casting, and the rest." Ixora said. "I'll give a spell book later."
"Mind reading, like she can read my mind?" Natalie asked.
"Yes, and whatever mind reading means." Ixora replied.
"Why's the rest of the page blank?" I asked.
"LIBER CUSTODES is Latin for THE GUARDIAN'S BOOK, so it's like a biography of some sort. So as your life progresses, the book writes important things about you."
"Wow!" Natalie said. "So mind blowing." She moved to sit on the chair I sat on previously.
"So what are you teaching me today." I asked giving the book back to Natalie.
"I wanted to teach you how to lock your mind first, then maybe Teleportation and Mind reading. They're the easiest to learn, the rest will be spell casting and learning everything you need to know."
I nodded. "Alright I'm a fast learner. I can all three in these two hours."
"Trust me, you only need 30 minutes."
"I'm ready." I said and looked at Natalie. She gave me a smile of encouragement and began reading the book, Liber Custodes.
"Let's begin." Ixora said after taking a deep breath.
