Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Inexperienced

When I woke up, daylight filtered through the window, and a new message on my phone caught my attention. It was a disturbing news report about the being the messenger had mentioned in my dream. As I read the headline, my heart stopped: "Mysterious Entity Destroys City in Southern Africa." Anxiety flooded me as I recalled the warning from my dream. Was this the power I had obtained meant to exterminate that being?

With trembling hands, I set the phone aside and tried to calm myself. My usual routine continued; after helping with household chores and completing my university assignments, I went outside to sit in front of my house. However, the air felt dense and heavy. Looking toward the Metropolitan City, about four hours away by car, I saw a column of black smoke rising into the sky.

Driven by a mix of curiosity and fear, I checked the news and confirmed my worst fears. There he was, the being in the beige trench coat, unleashing chaos in his wake. His aura was a whirlwind of colors: gold, white, and black flashes swirling around him. It was entirely different from mine; mine was a purer, more controlled manifestation. When I activated my aura, it seemed to emerge from the corners of my body like rising vapor, whereas his was a chaotic storm of dark energy.

As the gravity of the situation weighed on me, I returned to my room. I needed to act. I used teleportation, seeking his presence. I felt his immense power; it was as if he had the capacity to destroy entire cities, at least as large as New York. Fear gripped me, but so did a burning determination. I put on my mint-colored hoodie and a mask to avoid being recognized. I couldn't allow this threat to continue.

With my heart racing, inexperienced in combat, and taking a deep breath, I activated my aura. As the power coursed through my body, the white energy enveloped me, giving me a strength I didn't know I possessed. The fear began to fade, replaced by renewed courage. I teleported to the top of a building, observing the being who had brought so much chaos.

The atmosphere was thick with tension. It was time to fight, and not just the country, but the entire world was watching. People in helicopters were recording the scene, and my mind struggled to stay calm, knowing that any misstep could harm innocent bystanders nearby.

Without a second thought, I launched into combat, feeling my aura's energy rise and expand around me. This would be the moment to test everything I had learned, not just to protect myself, but also to save those who could be injured. The fight for everyone's future had begun, and I couldn't afford to fail.

With a powerful shout and in a combat stance, I increased my aura and charged at the being. Our blows were colossal, surpassing the speed of sound, and our reflexes were beyond limits. The intensity of our clash created a zone of turbulent air, like hurricane winds, whipping around us.

As we fought, I observed his eyes, light gray with crimson flashes. At first, I thought he was being controlled until I heard his voice resonate:

"Damned one! You dare interfere with something already written, ha ha ha! You're just a pet to him."

In that instant, I realized his rage was genuine and that this fight was much more than a simple conflict. I didn't hesitate to act, but something was strange; the being seemed to let himself be hit.

I concentrated my energy and delivered a powerful blow, sending him crashing into a building. The impact echoed throughout the area, but seeing no signs of response, I cautiously approached. Suddenly, he launched a crimson sphere at me. With quick reflexes, I dodged it and moved away, preparing for his next move.

The being, with a scream that made the ground tremble, charged at me. My mask broke slightly in the process, but that didn't stop me. I retreated to a safe distance and began to concentrate my power into a fist, activating my aura that gave me courage. I was ready to deliver the decisive blow.

We both launched at the same time, surpassing the speed of sound. When our fists collided, the released energy was devastating; his strength sent me flying into a destroyed building. I got up, dazed, and waited for the dust to settle, but when I opened my eyes, the being was gone. Unease filled me.

In the distance, I saw helicopters surrounding the battle zone. Police and military forces were beginning to arrive, and chaos was unfolding around me. Without wasting time, I ran toward a heavily damaged building from our battle. I knew I had to hide to avoid being identified and captured.

Upon reaching a safe corner, I used teleportation to disappear from the scene. I felt the air change around me as I moved through dimensions, landing in a remote place. Adrenaline still flowed through my veins, but the reality of what had happened began to sink in.

My mind was in chaos. What had all that been? And, more importantly, what did my new power imply? I knew I had to understand more about this conflict and prepare for what was to come.

As I tried to assimilate the magnitude of the situation, an unexpected text message arrived on my phone. It was from Gissel, asking if I was okay and if I was still alive. Reading her message, a mix of concern and relief overwhelmed me. I couldn't risk her getting involved in this chaos. I had to protect her, as well as everyone around me.

With a clearer mind, I decided I needed to learn to control my powers and understand the nature of the being I had fought. It was the only way to face what was coming. My journey was just beginning.

I fell asleep in that unknown place, but peacefully. The battle had exhausted every fiber of my body, and my mind was saturated with confusing thoughts about what had occurred.

After a few hours, I woke up feeling a mix of relief and tension. I needed more rest, but I also had to return home before anyone noticed my absence. I reflected for a moment, ensuring I hadn't been followed, and used teleportation to return to my room.

Upon arrival, everything was dark. I looked at the clock: it was 3 a.m. on a Sunday. I let out a sigh, feeling the weight of fatigue in my bones. Without wasting time, I headed to the bathroom.

The hot water soothed my tense muscles and cleaned the wounds the fight had left me. Although the pain persisted, the bath helped me relax and regain some of my energy. I observed my reflection in the mirror; my body, though not athletic, had withstood a battle against a being of unimaginable power.

After dressing in comfortable clothes, I lay down on my bed and, without realizing it, fell into a deep sleep.

The first rays of the sun crossed my window, illuminating my eyelids and forcing me to wake up. I sat up slowly, feeling pain with every movement. Although the early morning bath had helped me relax, the effects of the combat were still felt in my body.

Despite the fatigue, I gathered the strength to get up. I couldn't stay in bed all day.

I took a deep breath and, with heavy steps, headed to clean the house.

I knew the fight with that being wouldn't be the last. I had to get stronger, understand the extent of my power, and figure out the purpose behind all of this. Something big was happening, and I was at the center of it.

After finishing my chores, I went straight to my room. The exhaustion still lingered in my body, but I had to prepare my books and everything I needed for university the next day. While organizing my things, I grabbed my phone and decided to check what the news was saying about the fight.

I opened Twitter and, to my surprise, it was trending worldwide. Videos, analyses, and theories flooded the platform. Some claimed it was a battle between higher beings, others said it might have been a government experiment gone wrong. And though uncertainty reigned in the comments, one thing was clear: the battle in the central city had impacted everyone.

I sighed in relief when I saw that the mask had served its purpose. No one could recognize me. But at the same time, a strange feeling coursed through me. I knew this wasn't over.

To clear my mind, I opened Fortnite and played for a while. I needed something to disconnect from all the chaos I had experienced. Hours passed, and when I felt my body couldn't take it anymore, I set the alarm to wake up early and fell asleep.

The next morning, the sound of the alarm pulled me from my deep sleep. I got up with some difficulty; my body still ached from the blows of the fight. Despite that, I couldn't afford to skip university.

I got ready calmly, chose comfortable clothes, and after a quick breakfast, I headed out to university.

When I arrived, I noticed that the conversations were all about the fight in the central city. Everyone was talking about the two combatants with supernatural powers, how the city had trembled with each impact, and the impressive display of strength they had witnessed.

Honestly, I felt good hearing their comments. Not only because they were speaking well of me, but also because, so far, no one had recognized me.

As I walked down the hallways, with my backpack on my shoulder and pretending to be normal, I couldn't help but wonder: what would happen if someone discovered that I was the fighter surrounded by a white aura?

The real battle still hadn't ended.
