Chapter 11 - Memory

I stared at him. My hands were shaking now, fists clenched at my sides. The room felt too small. The air is too heavy.

Bright stood still — not moving, not defending, just watching me with eyes full of something I didn't know how to name. Was it guilt? Regret? Love?

My voice cracked. "You're lying."

"I'm not," he whispered.

"Stop," I snapped. My heart was pounding. "Just stop saying that. You don't know me. You're pretending."

He stepped forward, slow. Gentle. "Terra—"

"DON'T," I yelled, and my hand reached out before I could think — grabbing the nearest thing. A coffee mug. I threw it.

It shattered against the wall behind him, just barely missing his shoulder.

He didn't flinch. Didn't move. Just looked at me like he was watching someone fall apart in front of him and couldn't catch them fast enough.

"I wanted to believe it," I said, voice broken now, words tumbling out through tears. "I wanted to believe that someone could love me that much. That someone would fight for me like that. But how can I believe in something I can't even remember?"

He opened his mouth, but I cut him off. "You should've let me go."

Then suddenly — the dizziness hit her like a wave. Her vision blurred for a second. She stumbled back, grabbing the edge of the table. A sharp pain pierced her head, and—

Flash.

Laughter.

Rain.

Bright's hoodie over her head as they ran through the street.

He pulled her close, kissed her forehead.

I called him "Babe" with that teasing smirk.

He whispered, "You're it for me, Terra. You always have been."

And just like that, it was gone.

I gasped, holding her head, breath catching in my throat. My knees wobbled.

Bright rushed to my side instantly, hands gentle but steady. "Hey—hey, I got you. Sit down, okay? Just breathe."

I looked up at him, tears still falling. "What was that?"

His voice cracked with hope. "You were just about to fall, but don't worry, I am here, don't overthink."

I blinked fast. "Rain. You. You said I was it for you…"

He nodded, eyes glossy. "I did. You are."

She pulled away a little, still scared. Still unsure. "I don't know what's happening. I don't remember it. But it felt… real."

He didn't push her. Just cupped her cheek gently. "That's because it was."

And even though she didn't say anything else… she didn't pull away this time.
