When they decide to get married, the first thing they do is find a place to live. A restored version of an old Japanese house just outside Kyoto catches their attention. It has a small garden, a tatami room and a traditional veranda. The owners are an elderly couple, and when they hear the young people's story, they offer the house for a reasonable price. "This house is used to new beginnings," says the woman. The house is no longer just a place, it is a home.
