Jiah's POV
The next day, Sungmin and Yula came to the house, and immediately after I saw them, something crossed my mind. "Did they sleep together last night?" I knew Yula didn't sneak into my head, so she would not hear that.
"We just need to put the past behind us and forge ahead," Yula said.
"I am thinking about something," Sungmin said. It is like they seem to forget the hurtful words they threw at me yesterday, especially Sungmin.
"I got a new trick! Our mission now should be to get back our guiding star so that we can come together as a clan even stronger. After which, we will revive your father from Guyong's manipulation. I plan to use Nara to execute these plans. I will have her reveal secrets to me about Guyong's deepest secrets. How about that, guys?" he asked, but I didn't seem to buy the idea because Nara was involved.
"Yeah! And even have her get a wolf from their pack for the ritual!" My eyes widened when Yula said this. I think she is making sense now.
"Sungmin, you will have to play along with Nara and buy into her mind. This is the only way she can reveal secrets to you! Even about herself. I mean… who she truly is!" Yula added, with gesticulations that trapped our eyes.
Sungmin's POV
I rushed to my father's house. When I got there, Kaasong informed me about the visitor Dad had in his room and that he already instructed that he didn't want any disturbance from anyone. I asked her to leave and return to her duty. As I walked towards the door that wasn't far from me, I knocked.
"Hey, Dad! It's me."
Kangdae pressed a gentle kiss against Maesong's fluffy cheek.
"A minute, my love, I will be back shortly."
When he opened the door, I quickly peeped into the room and saw a familiar face lying on the bed.
"Dad! What are you doing with that lady?"
"I do not remember the last time I made you my relationship coach. Don't you dare question my choices!"
Sungmin knows his father is a stubborn goat; he never listens until he's doomed.
"Mom is somewhere weeping, suffering, and held as a slave. All you do is go about your business and have fun with some gold digger?"
Kangdae slapped my face before I finished dropping the last word.
"Don't you ever—read my lips—ever in your life call her that again!"
I boiled. Not for once did I welcome transforming into a wolf whenever my father got me angry. I only swallowed my anger and walked out, or spilled words at him.
"I promise you would regret this if you do not chase that lady out of your life!" I said, cautious of my words so as not to insult his woman and receive another slap from Kangdae.
I turned to leave when I remembered that I had come to my father to tell him something important. I paused for a second.
"I have accepted to be with Nara!" I said without looking at him.
I was too mad to explain anything to him. He always had a way of making matters worse. Instead of seeking solutions to the underlying problems, he prefers to leave them lying unsolved and reach for something new and different — forgetting that those problems he left unsolved would later arise and haunt him down.
Sometimes, I feel he is just a coward. Yes, I know he is my father, and I shouldn't be saying these words, but it's just the truth.
Something dawned on me. Why would my father be doing this? He has never been like this… or is he now abandoning me because he's looking for a woman to give him a son?
Even if I acted like I didn't care about my father, I was already feeling broken and unloved. Everything and everyone around me seemed to be fake. They seemed to be acting like they love me because they plan to get something from me in return.
I am sure I must have failed him as his only son or disappointed him, and maybe that's why he's acting this way. He needs a son that he would call Yoo — a son who will not end up being a wolf, or fighting an endless battle, or a prey to Guyong. A son who would focus on managing his company and staying away from trouble.
I perceived that my father was starting a new life. But I won't let my family go down the mud. My mother and sister, in the merciless hands of Guyong. I felt the pain of being a rejected son — especially one that is fighting alone.
I tried to pick up my broken pieces, but it was hard to. I darted back in my speed to Jiah. I just wanted to be around the people I felt loved me. The ones I could call family — at least for now.
I can't speak for tomorrow; tomorrow will speak for itself.
"Don't feel this way. Know that you are just the best version of yourself — strong, a warrior, caring, and above all, your mother would be proud of the man you are becoming. So do not feel sad. I am sure that with time, your dad will come to realize the gravity of what he is getting himself involved in," Jiah said.
"That lady is nothing but a gold digger. I do not know how your dad had come in contact with such a lady," Yula said, dangling herself on the hanging chair that was a few steps away.
"I thought he could help me put a call through to Nara and tell her what I will be plotting with him, but I couldn't get a hold of myself to tell him anything else."
"I get that type of feeling," Yula responded as she munched a small portion of popcorn that she poured into a small bowl.
"Don't worry, I will talk to your father to help us call Nara on the phone," Jiah said.
Nara's POV
I got to Guyong's territory looking clean — no scratch, no cuts on me; nothing to be suspicious of! As I walked through every corner, I noticed everyone around me and their looks. But I soon ran into Kajan.
"My Lady!" I said, bowing my head.
She gazed at me suspiciously.
"You smell like sin!" she snapped, her maids looking to the ground.
"You haven't been in the territory for some days now. I had some wolves spy on you!" she said, her head raising with pride.
"Yes, I was with my fated mate and his father as our master ordered that I do a follow-up until they are under our arms," I replied as she slowly let down her head, her eyes dimming with suspicion.
"Be careful. I have my eyes on you! And hey! Come style my hair. I have a date with my husband tonight!" she said, as I followed a step behind her.
In our territory, no wolf dares to walk on the same lane with Kajan. As her servants, you must be a step or more behind to show some respect for our Lady.
I followed her into her chamber as she sat in front of an old mirror to have her hair styled.
I started with a comb when Beta Jiwon asked in the mind-link.
"I got information that you just came in!"
"Yes, styling Kajan's hair in her chamber. Are you still in the cell?"
"Yes, I am. I think they are having a party tonight."
"Yeah! Kajan said so. So what's up?"
"Nothing much yet… I think Guyong has been asking after you. Zami told me that Beta Tan told her so."
"Really?"
"You should go hear what he wants to tell you because tonight Luyank will be letting us out for that stuff!"
"I get that! That's fine."
